Spencer Abraham -- Arab American, former BushCo cabinet member, Senator, and law school professor -- to show the world that the US is not reflexively anti-Arab.

John Yoo is a darkhorse possibility.

So do we know anything about Callahan? I couldn't find a photo of her or even an up to date DOJ profile...

Posted by Mr Furious at September 26, 2005 02:03 PM

Callahan's CV has to be one of the skimpiest and least impressive I've EVER seen as a potential candidate for SCOTUS. The fact that she's only 55, female and hispanic with no paper trail, makes her a prime Rove choice. Any Democrat who would vote for her should be removed from any position of responsiblity and thoroughly castigated. That means Joementum and Biden will probably vote for her, Biden only after stern questioning.

Filibuster MUST be exercised for the next turd proposed by the Bush White House. No more "positioning" can be accepted! The opposition party, FINALLY, needs to oppose. What the HELL is in the water of the District of Columbia?

I am still hoping for Ann Coulter, but I will settle for janis Rogers Brown. I just love it when Byrd tells us the reasons a former poor black woman shouldn't serve on the high court.

Cyber Sarge:

Ann Coulter has questionable conservative Christian principles. She dyes her hair, and if her boobs weren't so small, I would swear she visited Dr. Robert. And she wrote something about the President being responsible for some of the Katrina mess. Come on, he wasn't even there! A friend of mine even told me something so disgusting about A. Coulter that I had to wake up my pastor and have my brain purged.

That she's really a liberal gay Buddhist male mole from San Francisco who is out to discredit the GOP - and failed due to the fact that they had already done themselves in?

Oh, the Humanity!

No, it had to do with peanut butter. Don't ask, don't tell.

Ann Coulter ran out of Preparation H?

I hope she liked the chunky - we were out of smooth!

Cyber Sarge is already spouting the GOP
propaganda that will be directed towards the Democrats on the next appointment.

Most likely Bush has already made his decision which is why he's running with the 'no white male' tag line...

In some ways at this point I have to say that I think Bush out maneuvered the Dems on SCOTUS nominees. In theory the first nomination was going to be a major conservative to replace Chief Justice Rehnquist, but then Assoc. Justice O'Connor resigns. Bush nominates what on the surface is a moderate white male (who would be vulnerable to filibuster). This candidate makes it past the moderate test and has a clean bill of health prior to confirmation when the Chief Justice dies "unexpectedly". Now Bush elevates the pick he knows will be approved to Chief and waits for the nomination to complete.

Next up a pick that isn't a white male making it harder to filibuster the pick, not impossible just politically more difficult. Turns out that someone up there got the order correct regardless of who he next nominates - it'll be harder to filibuster the second nominee (although the 3rd nominee if one is needed is in for a real battle royale...)

Posted by OutsideTheEchoChamber at September 26, 2005 11:12 PM

Well, I know one thing for sure. If the Democrats do not filibuster the next pick, if not acceptable, then they can kiss my vote goodby for ever. I'm getting tired of giving them one more chance and getting kicked in the teeth. Canada is beginning to look better and better.

Judith I pray that the Democrats filibuster Janis Rogers Brown (my personal pick) it will end the stupid rule forever and also place a very conservative women on the high court. The mask of being for Blacks advancement fell off the Democrats during the Justice Thomas interviews. They are only in favor of those Blacks that tow their liberal line and not Blacks as a group. I hope after a Janis Brown appointment the entire façade would fall down on top of the Liberal Left and maybe take a few Congress people and Senators with them. Maybe just maybe a few people might look at the track record and not the rhetoric.

So when Democrats oppose a white nominee does that mean they are against the advancement of whites as a group? And how come George Bush doesn't nominate a liberal black or hispanic candidate? Would it be because they "don't tow"(sic) his conservative line?

Cyber Sarge what's it like to think strictly in gross generalities all the time? I'm fascinated.
