Comments: Bush Rehires Michael Brown

If this is not a stunning display of arrogance and incompetence, I need to hear from a troll what the talking point is that explains it.

Yes, I need to hear the Bush apologists and defenders explain why this is a good thing? Inquiring minds want to see heads explode trying to defend the indefensible.

Repack Rider and Emal, never fear, they will have some distorted reason why this is a good thing, although I can't imagine what it will be.

CBS News correspondent Gloria Borger reports that Knocke told her that technically Brown remains at FEMA as a "contractor" and he is "transitioning out of his job." The reason he will remain at FEMA about a month after his resignation, said the spokesman, is that the agency wants to get the "proper download of his experience."

During that time, Brown will advise the department on "some of his views on his experience with Katrina," as he transitions out of his job, Knocke told the Associated Press.

I'm sure his imput will be of great value. After leaving office, he will be teaching at a university up east on The Peter Principal.

The administration doesn't want him talking. They have 2 choices:
1. Keep him on the payroll
2. Kill him
At the moment they seem to be giving #1 a try.

Oops. I don't actually care to reveal sources, but Michelle Brown was hired as a consultant by the White House. And her specialty is "Preparing Perennials For The Winter Months". This is a FIRLAD department under the direct control of Laura, and has no direct contact other than oral with the Department of Madness and Messy Death.

I hope that I have not revealed anything, well, too sensitive, regarding highly classified internal government departments or the apparent alertness or lack of exhibited by their members.

We can keep paying Brownie for not doing a job but we can't find anything in the federal budget to cut? They could pay me half his salary, and I'd be happy to not work, too.

Whatever happened to the "CEO presidency?" CEOs are always willing to cut, no matter how painful, just to increase the bottom line. And they usually start with labor costs.

Ann, maybe you're right. With a CEO as president, maybe he should outsource the FEMA job to India or China...

Posted by muckdog at September 26, 2005 09:53 PM

Or hey issue a blanket pardon ala Clinton

Posted by Avenger D-22 at September 26, 2005 10:29 PM

Yeah Brown's butt ought to be in jail for faking his resume and then screwing up... this one is a screw up by the Bush team.

Ok the only person here was Ron In Portland with the obvious reasons as to why they did this. I'll add a third. They really don't give a damn and they don't even try to pretend like they care anymore.

Where's west the wondertroll when we need him to explain why this is okay.

Posted by emal at September 27, 2005 05:01 AM

West would just tell you that Brown did an excellent job. It was the Mayor and Governor of NO that was the problem. Emal, you keep forgetting that up is down, right is wrong, etc.

Posted by Judith at September 27, 2005 05:39 AM

Judith you're right, unfortunately....*sigh*

Left is Right!

Posted by bbtb at September 27, 2005 08:15 AM

muck, I think we should just outsource you. wouldn't change much.

Funny, I thought we had already outsourced the FEMA job - to Halliburton.

CNN:

Brown's 2004 salary was $145,600, according to the Plum Book, a congressional reference guide to executive branch salaries.
