Tom Delay has been indicted...sorry to be off topic!
Posted by Goyo at September 28, 2005 09:36 AMsorry I was too excited to post the link previously!
Posted by Goyo at September 28, 2005 09:46 AMDrum is falling for one of the oldest mistakes in American politics. In 1936 there was a poll that showed conservatives at 41%, moderates at 40% and liberals at a paltry 19%. This "center-right" majority reelected FDR about a month later with only 2 states going for Landon. It's all about framing. If you ask operational questions like should all Americans have guarenteed access to healthcare or should the government punish polluters, this theoretically conservative country is operationally quite liberal.
Yes, you need the center to build a majority, but imitating failed conservative policies, especally now that people are ready for change, is not going to get you there.
Posted by rlp at September 28, 2005 10:27 AMOh come on, it's no fun when you just lay there and take it. Give me a big "HALIBURTON" and gin up a "DIEBOLD" conspiracy and maybe type up some docs that claim Frist was the spawn of the devil. If you are surprised that most Americans aint buying that crap then your side is truely in trouble in 2006. And yes Tom Delay was indicted by Ronnie Earle but he joins a long and very distinguished lists of Texas politicians. FYI Ronnie has a poor record on prosecution and I am still taking bets that Delay will never spend a day in jail.

Posted by at September 28, 2005 05:52 PMUnless we know the nationwide congressional district gerrymandered bias, national polls tell us little.
In other words a 50/50 voter split can be gerrymandered -- say in a 6 district state -- to produce an overwhelming win by one party of 1 district and modest wins for the other party in the remaining 5 districts; 50/50 becomes 83/17.
Does anyone know the current district party bias, nationwide?
