Kick the Hammer in the Slammer and throw away the key!

Hang him. I mean it. Delay should swing. And I say Earle for the Senate from Texas.

hanging is too good for the hammer...

Communication is important, FWIW, the noise machine is having some success in promoting "St. Thomas the persecuted" at least according to Rasmussen.

Eriposte,

Please place the link "http://www.houstonpress.com/issues/1994-06-23/feature.html" in your post. It goes to a very detailed 1994 article by Miriam Rozen that covers the documentary evidence and witness statements Earle would have presented if there had been an actual trial of Hutchinson. Sounds pretty damning to me. I think a rational person can infer some guilt from the evidence, even if Earle made mistakes in the prosecution of the case.

Ever since Tom paid down my mortgage in return for a trivial illegality, I have thought the world of him. However, given the latest revelations, and the repercussions for God’s party, I would prefer to have weasels rip his flesh.

Heard on NPR (Diane Rehm show) that Earle is a cautious prosecutor. The fact that the indictment was narrow and didn't say much might be taken to mean that he has some very specific info on DeLay. A guy on FOX news said Earle probably should have made the indictment broader--it's very narrow, but this person on NPR was saying that the fact that it's narrow probably means something, and he would not indict without some really good evidence.

What a great collection of misdeeds on Delays' part. Unfornately, none of this is spelled out in the indictment which charges conspiracy in a very narrow case. It's my understnding (but I sure all of you will correct me) that this is the only charge that Delay was under investigation for? If that's so this was just a big waste of time on the part of Ronnie Earl. Even if they have a video of Delay spelling out exactly what he was doing (in the worst case scenario for him) he could always claim that this avenue was left open because of the Texas law. Under that Statuate Local races cannot accept corporate funds but the national party can send them fund. Delay may have money laundered but that is not what he is being charged with and Earl better have something much bigger or he is going to look very silly. The law doesn't spell out that you can't send money to the National party and they inturn send money back to local races. Delay could make a very compelling case that it was left open for that very purpose. I bet the State Democrats are hoping that Earle doesn't go down this road because they most likely have used this method as well.

Cyber Sarge:

Do you honestly believe that DeLay is not the lovable scumbucket that we have come to know so well? This guy would sell morning-after pills to a nun.

Oh, for god's sake. The law is clear. Stretching the limits to suit your purposes is extremely weak. Ever heard the phrase: letter and spirit?

The Texas Grand Jury indicted DeLay. Clearly, there's something there. Just because you choose to pretend that it isn't a big deal doesn't mean it's not.

well the solution is obvious..let cyber smuck defend delay..he has it all figured out better than the prosecutor...

"Oh, for god's sake. The law is clear." If the law was that clear Earle would have charged Delay under that statuate, he did not. From my point of view if the Left wasn't constantly calling for Delay head, I would suspect he was slacking at his job. Since he has the Democrats all fired up, it's clear that he is doing his job.

Cyber Sarge:

Actually, his head is of little value. His balls are currently worth $525.00 US on eBay. And as far as doing his job, only his proctologist would know for sure.

The indictment specifically alleges that DeLay, who helped organize the Texas political committee at the heart of the charge, participated in a conspiracy to funnel corporate money into the 2002 state election "with the intent that a felony be committed."

From your point of view....well, sure, when you want to believe you are being persecuted, you'll believe you're being persecuted...even when you aren't. The Texas Law says no corporate money to elect candidates or remove them from office. So, DeLay thought he could beat the system (aka: violate the law) by sending the corporate money he raised to a national committee and then having them send different money back. Puhleeze. You can whine about technicalities all you want, but we all see the reality.

You know, Andy Fastow and Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay still don't think they broke the law. But they did.

remember: it's ok to be corrupt if you're in the criminal party...

Ronnie Earle for the next Supreme Court Justice seat!!

There is no crime the right will admit it is guilty of committing. They excel in moral turpitude and will defend each other no matter how heinous their offense. One would have to be a moral leper not to find Tom DeLay offensive because he is a man with zero ethical standards.
