Comments: Bill Bennett, bottom-feeder

Funny, Let's call a spade a spade was the title of a post of mine on this subject. Basically blacks are viewed as outdoor pets and treated accordingly. That's why a conservative can talk recommend abortion and get away with it. Just spaying the animals.

It is true that, on average, crime involvement in the U.S. is higher among blacks than whites.

I have a problem with this statement. I think blacks are more frequently targeted by the police, so the statistics about involvement in crime are misleading. I also believe that if one included statistics for "white-collar" crime, the incidence of involvement in crime would be racially the same.

Ann,

I think you are correct on this (quite a bit of data supporting it):
"I think blacks are more frequently targeted by the police, so the statistics about involvement in crime are misleading."

Thanks for pointing it out.

Bill Bennett is good, white Christian conservative. The charges of pedophilia were quietly dismissed, and the charge of buggery isn't even a crime in his state. His dog has even forgiven him. What more do you want?

It is unbelievable that liberals would waste their time persecuting Mr. Bennett and Mr. Bush, and Mr. Libby, and Mr. Rove, and Mr. Brown. Collectively, they represent God, albeit not on one of his better days. May you all contract a nasty sexually transmitted disease.

Whoa, that's absolutely the last time I mix acid and tequila.

I actually sat near Bennett at a fund raiser once (table of 10 with Ex-Sen. Phil Gramm) and on meeting him later found him very pleasant.

To my knowledge, he did not burp or fart, nor did he advocate beating up the black guests or staff. His table manners were excellent and although there was one joke told that could be described as sexist, not one racist remark (discounting code words) was made the entire evening.

Wow, Matt could make the case for neo-nazis, if you replace the word "jews with "bankers" that would ad "context" to the final solution.

Touche... I'm going to have to think about this some more...

I am so sick of these jokers I don't know what to do. And this lunatic was the former Secy of Education????

I also read that the White House responded that George W. Bush "believes the comments were not appropriate."

Not appropriate. Wow George!!!! Do you think you may have been a little too harsh in your expressing your disapproval of Bennett's comments.

That is funny, celebrate the ubiquitous crime of mass murder through illegal invasion for its unintended effect of increasing the rate of terror crimes.

For the record, I was not trying to make the definitive argument against Bennett, but instead trying to demonstrat how it was impossible to be "ok" with Bennett's remarks under any circumstances or assumptions.

Armando,

Point taken. I didn't mean to imply that your response was not appropriate...

Thanks.

j.west, Was that fundraiser at an Indian Casino?

I think this could just be a ruse by the RNC, to get someone to say something inflamatory. While abhorrent, it does change the subject. bu$h comes out and makes the stooge say he's sorry. bu$h looks like the good guy, albeit temporarily.
