I'd give my left nut to return to the days of blowjobs in the oval office!
Posted by jj at October 5, 2005 03:17 PMI'm spinning.....scandals to the left of me, scadals to the right....
Posted by ann at October 5, 2005 03:32 PMNote that he started his espionage in 1999 - back when there were lewinskies in the Whitehouse... and that the whole point was to release the information to the press...
his conviction shows the Whitehouse cracking down on leaks... the plea deal just limited his conviction to the final 2 years.
Posted by OutsideTheEchoChamber at October 5, 2005 04:22 PMHe didn't get his top secret clearence until the Bush admin. Nice try though.
Posted by goose1 at October 5, 2005 04:36 PMOTEC -- is the "he" you refer to Franklin? If so, could you provide a link to your statements that "he" started his espionage in 1999 and that his intent was to release the info to the press?
The article linked to the post states that "Weissman disclosed sensitive information as far back as 1999" so I'm at a loss as to where you got your info.
Posted by dorita at October 5, 2005 04:39 PMann:
Actually, ALL the scandals are to the right of you.
Posted by Rotwang at October 5, 2005 04:42 PMstring him up.
Posted by T2 at October 5, 2005 04:45 PMAccording to the indictment, Rosen & Weissman didn't contact Franklin until August '02. At the time, Franklin was working for DoD under Feith.
Posted by iamcoyote at October 5, 2005 06:39 PMOTEC won't be back on this thread, I think. Because s/he commented thinking we are idiots. Little battles won can be sweet :)
Posted by dorita at October 5, 2005 08:00 PMActually I commented because of the blow jobs comment. I try to always, at least once revisit a thread on which I comment, dor.
Espionage occurs in 'rings' this ring started in about '99, the fact that one of it's members joined in 2002 is immaterial. Of note getting a TS clearance takes years - thus the processing started well before the current admin. Fair enough I shouldn't have said 'he'.
BTW, it's the same with the Marine who was also reported on today, in fact that have him on tape on every MSM channel talking about how loyal he is because he's from the Philipines (nothing against people from the Philipines - he made the generalization not me.)
Why did both stories resurface today - well in the case of this one - because he pled guilty today... in the case of the other one because today it was disclosed he wasn't just an FBI analyst but had spied while at the Whitehouse.
No big conspiracy... for what it's worth there was actually a good story out today talking about how the Whitehouse should be sweating because of the fact that the special prosecutor might announce indictments before the end of the month (ie. within 4 weeks)... it also said that it wouldn't happen immediately because he would send letters to those that would be indicted before the indictments were announced. Ease up on the conspiracy theories.
BTW, sorry I don't monitor the board as frequently as you dor - I have a job and a life and those two things keep me busy. Plus this board is little more then a rumor mill with post designed to set a viewpoint as opposed to actually talk about issues (note various posters are of different quality Steve's posts are OK, Pessimist's are some of the low end - IMHO)
So now dor, I won't be back and you can win all the little battles you would like on this comment thread. As for another thread who knows I'm considering dropping this blog from my reading list because it's so insular and there are better left leaning blogs.
"Of note getting a TS clearance takes years..."
From personal experience, that's not true at all.
Posted by disgusted vet at October 6, 2005 12:30 AMWatch that door on your way out, OTEC. Since you never paid your dues here, we didn't have the funds to fix it.
WANTED: Intelligent conservative who has something to add to political conversations. Must be rational.
Posted by pessimist at October 6, 2005 02:07 AMthere are no rational conservatives...
Posted by headxray at October 6, 2005 03:25 AMIt is important that Franklin was recruited in '02, actually, since he's a bush supporter and worked under Feith. Rosen is a signatory on the PNAC statement, so he's a neocon, and Weissman is is partner. So the attempt to blame it on Clinton is silly.
Posted by iamcoyote at October 6, 2005 05:37 AMOutsideTheEchoChamber, sorry for shortening your name. I mean it is so much shorter than mine. But I do understand the indignation connected with someone changing your name -- in Latvia they changed mine. I didn't like it, but never complained.
The "blowjob" comment got you off and commenting? That's fun :)
Your response includes only a brief apology for your erronious pronoun reference, but still no support for your point. It seems blowjobs set you off to make unfounded comments. Correct me if I am wrong.
BTW what is "it" that seems the same to you, OutsideTheEchoChamber, with the marine. Your referent is?
I did not bring up any conspiracy theories -- but maybe your mind is playing tricks on you.
As far as your monitoring the boards goes, gees my mom works harder than you and she is retired. You only have a job and a life? Not two jobs? You slug!
Please don't drop this blog on my account. That wouldn't be fair. Play fair, please. I'm not really very important at all and only add comic relief on my better days.
*saw you on that other thread :)

I'll go even further. I miss the Cold War.
Posted by sch7363 at October 6, 2005 08:01 PMMiss no further. The White House (notice OutsideTheEchoChamber I don't adopt your typing :) Oh wait, s/he/it will only be back after this comment is gone . . .
The cold war is back, silly you didn't you pay attention to Our Leader?
