“as the GOP attack dogs set their sights on Patrick Fitzgerald”
Do you just make this shit up as you go along?
Who on the republican side has said anything about Fitzgerald other than to praise him for being fair and honest, as the President did yesterday in an interview with Matt Lauer.
Try not to project the same shameful actions that the minions of the Criminal Clinton did with Ken Starr onto the demonstrably honorable republicans.
By the time Bush is done with Fitzgerald his mother wouldn't recognize him. After all, Fitz is trying to amputate his right arm. Fitz will turn out to be a poodle fucking fellow traveler. He wears women's underwear. He cheated on his college exams. His kids abuse drugs. He's cheated on his taxes for 10 years running. That can't all be true, you say? Well, repeat a lie long enough and loudly enough and the American populace will come to believe it. After all this is the same citizenry, when polled, that says to the tune of 60-something percent Saddam downed the Trade Towers. Hell, Bush may even have another trifecta in his pocket, with Joe, Valerie and Patrick being the ones ending up jailed. Implausible? No more implausible than a lying failed businessman, dry drunk, war deserter and sociopath becoming President.

Before you attack me for "making shit up" do me a favor and READ THE LINKS in the post (highlighted over the phrase "set their sights on").
I try not to get upset but this kind of juvenile nonsense does test one's patience.
Posted by eriposte at October 12, 2005 08:47 AMeriposite, Don't worry, he won't be around much longer. As soon as the indictments come down.
Posted by Goose1 at October 12, 2005 08:49 AMYeah, I saw a first tentative beginning to go after Fitzgerald last night on Olberman. It was an NBC reporter so it was probably produced for another show, or network, and the Countdown crew just brought it in.
Basically, the slams were that Fitzgerald is very booksmart but not very street smart and that he tended to be overzealous when going after big fish, implying that he was mugging for publicity.
But I gotta say it was a pretty tame piece, probably because NBC wouldn't go as far as they used to for the whitehouse because of it's obviously weakened state.
Oh, and don't miss Countdown with Olberman tonight, special show on The Nexus of Politics and Terror looking at the odd coincidence that when Bush poll numbers are falling there are terror threats.

Posted by mikevotes at October 12, 2005 08:54 AMeriposte,
If you are trying to say that the WSJ article questioning Fitzgerald's jailing of Judy Miller is a "slime", you are stretching pretty far.
Posted by j.west at October 12, 2005 08:59 AMWho is Eriposte?
As the Plame case appears to be reaching its conclusion and as the liberal attack dogs try to justify their misguided theories, I thought a quick rundown of what we know about him is in order.
He is nervous.
Being a politically active person, eriposte knows how criminals act when they are guilty. By following the template of actions laid forth by the Criminal Clinton, the difference between guilty and innocent parties becomes apparent.
Demonize the prosecutor – It was impossible to turn on a TV, pick up a newspaper or magazine or read an internet article during the Starr investigation without finding negative comments by the usual suspects tearing Starr down. No one in the Bush administration, party or even right wing commentators have said anything other than praise for Fitzgerald.
Leak as you go along and call bad news “old news” – This investigation has been remarkable in the absence of leaks, in stark contrast to those heady impeachment days.
Spin, spin and then spin some more – Where are Bush’s surrogates trying to put the proper spin on this? Answer is: No spin is needed.
Delay, delay and then delay some more – No need for that. Everyone in the Bush administration has cooperated fully and quickly to any request.
Fight, fight and fight some more – No “executive privilege”, no rulings needed for documents or testimony, full cooperation just like you would expect from innocent people.
Of course eriposte is nervous. He knows from experience how criminals act and this just doesn’t fit.

Posted by AvengingAngel at October 12, 2005 09:21 AMIt really does feel like the "perfect storm" that is building. Bush has eroded the strength and conviction of his defense/attack dogs with the nomination of Miers + the fact that Fitzgerald has unimpeachable credentials (at least thus far).

I wonder how much, if any, of that is occurring? You don't even read of leaks to that effect. Anyone seen such tactics referred to anywhere?
Posted by steve duncan at October 12, 2005 10:51 AM“Please ignore the troll”
Of course, weinerdog, you would like people to ignore the troll. If it were a “troll” who posts “Clinton/Gore/Kerry etc. Sucks” in response to “Bush Sucks” posts, I would agree with you.
But what you have here is the most destructive type of troll to the liberal way of thinking. A troll who posts something so obviously true that it totally refutes the liberal mindset and shatters left wing wet dreams.
The way to tell the difference between good trollists and people who just like to fight is the reaction. When liberals read a great troll post, they get that same feeling in the pit of their stomach that they had at about 5:00pm, November 2, 2003. It’s one of those “oh fuck” moments that we trolls live for.
We do serve the greater good by preparing those in the liberal community who still retain some common sense the shock of the perpetual letdowns one faces by being liberal. Please don’t hate us, we are here for your own protection.

Posted by headxray at October 12, 2005 11:37 AMHeadcase,
Don’t know why, but this “enlist in the armed forces” thing seems to be a recurring theme with you and Sunshine. Because I have one of those soft “compassionate conservative” hearts and I truly would like for you not to suck on the wrong end of a shotgun, I will give up my military background.
Army – Fort Knox, Fort Bliss, Camp Casey (Korea), Fort Campbell. Offered jobs with ASA, NSA and White House Communications Advanced Team (but for the life of me, I don’t understand the last one because I had zero background in that).
My last assignment was teaching aircraft recognition and evaluating the possibility of equipping infantry troops with Redeye missile systems (bad idea).
Hope this helps.
Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back, West, you're like the rooster who thinks he's responsible for the sun rising every morning.
It's apparent that you've been having great fun, along with the rest of the wingnuts inventing your own 'reality,' but that's all coming to an end soon, when Fitzgerald starts handing out indictments like they were GOPAC money...
Posted by David W at October 12, 2005 11:37 AMj west is right. why, look at all the support i have for gettin the government out of your social security. only liberals want to continue this bureaucratic, socialist nightmare (why do you think they call it "social" security? heh heh). fortunately, the american people are mostly conservative, so my plan for a private-sector based retirement plan is going great guns. a vast majority of the congress has signed on to my privatization plan, and popular approval of it ranges between 80 and 90 percent! at least that's what i've been told.
Posted by dubya at October 12, 2005 11:42 AMDave,
Come on, you know when we trolls speak truth to the powerless it strikes a chord. The absence of talk against Fitzgerald, republicans not distancing themselves from Rove, no premature leaks being spun, no blocking actions of any kind….this has all got to give you a little pause as to what is going on.
How liberals can take pleasure in the temporary postponement in revising a 70 year old ponzi scheme at the expense of the poor and minorities is a mystery to me.
Hang you heads in shame.
it bears repeating..you are a chickenhawk coward west..since you love the chimp and his policies so much the place for you is Iraq..now go wet the bed some more coward...
Posted by headxray at October 12, 2005 12:06 PMdamn right, j west. that's why me and all the real americans are demanding PRIVATIZATION! that's why we use the word every chance we get, and why every republican is running on a platform of PRIVATIZATION - it's in all the ads, isn't it? say it with me, j: PRIVATIZATION of social secuirity is what i believe in and the only thing that's stopping PRIVATIZATION is the democrats. the only way americans can get the PRIVATIZATION of social security that they're all clamoring for is to keep the GOP in the majority. otherwise the liberals will continue with their commie plan that america hates so much!

wait, we do have the majority? sez you - if we had the majority, how come the PRIVATIZATION plan hasn't sailed through congress?

Posted by at October 12, 2005 01:11 PMJ West you are right about the traitor McCain he will step over/on kids to get to a mike to tell us that Rove is gone. Roves’ only ‘crime’ is that he has beaten the Dhimicrats like a drum and they can’t figure out why. Without a single shred of evidence or official report (because GJ are secret) the LLL has convicted and wants to sentence the entire Bush administration on the supposed crime of outing a already open CIA analyst. When the Republicans cooperate with Fitzgerald and testify they go into full spin mode. If gives testimony to the GJ they only reason they can see for it is because he is spilling his guts or lying. Of course when Joe Wilson (who hasn’t testified lately) goes before the GJ he is giving a laundry list of wrongdoing that of course Fitzgerald must be taking action on and readying the handcuffs for Bush and his team. But unless you have someone on the GJ that is feeding you info (and nobody does) then everything you conclude about said GJ is pure speculation and not based on any fact.

Of course, everything that everyone else has come up with is speculation also. I just feel my speculation fits the facts better than the liberal fantasy of getting Rove/Libby/et al.
My whole point to this exercise is to get these tree-huggers to back up a little and take a look at the forest. They twist the known facts and ignore the ones that don’t fit their scenario.

Posted by tree at October 12, 2005 02:34 PMInitially, I was somewhat concerned about the appointment of Patrick Fitz. as the special prosecutor, but living in the Chicagoland area, it is clear that he is completely non partisan. He is simultaneously pursuing Mayor Daley's machine for corruption, and there are indictments pending. It must be very scary for this administration that there is an honest prosecutor out there who appears competent.
Nevertheless, I'll hold off on the champagne until I actually SEE the indictments. Until then, I'll just enjoy the squirming of the little Repug. maggots.

Weinerdog43, you are so right. What I can't understand is why Asscroft, who recused himself from the Plame investigation, would have selected him in the first place. Maybe Asscroft, if a "genuine born-again Christian", knew Fitzgerald would not be dissuaded by an Administration he saw as corrupt.
Good article on Fitzgerald:
Posted by Judith at October 12, 2005 05:34 PM
I really don't think they expected this. By and large, most Republicans appear to be corrupt. The wailing and knashing of teeth at Patrick Fitz's. appt. seemed to be phony at the time. Now, I'm not so sure. This Democrat would happily vote for Patrick Fitz. than anything that Mike Madigan approves. I'm sick of business as usual.

After you've read this propaganda screed making Fitzgerald out to be some kind of "above partics" Sir Galahad -- and aof "pop icon" -- you might need a break before going back to the real world.
It's at:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/6/28/122051/908
Fitzgerald brought the 1998 Embassy Bombing cases to trial because he was told to. The US government had been humiliated by these attacks against their own embassies. The most logical Federal Attorney's Office to prosecute these cases was via the Office for Southern New York District. The Office -- after all -- had tried and convicted people for the 1993 WTC bombings.
