who rolled? would the republicons be screaming for death sentences if this politically motivated treason had happened under a dem administration? nah..... not those nice people

Posted by at October 17, 2005 10:33 PMWell, there were a number of people in the CIA that were royally pissed at the way the administration strong-armed them into backing the admin's drive to war and then trying to stick the entire blame for the failure of finding WMD on the CIA's bad intelligence. I'd say that this would be an example of the CIA getting back at the liars for their lies and hypocrisy.

I am NOT counting my chickens before I hatch them. Really, I'm not counting that this will happen, no one can predict the future. While I'm pretty sure this is what went down, proving it could be beyong difficult for Ftiz.
Still, this late in the game, the logical orders go like the following, where arrows represent people turning evidence against another party.
Novak > Rove > Libby > Cheney
Cooper > Libby > Cheney
Miller > Libby > Cheney
And this is just what we know, but can't necessarily prove. We just have to wait and see if Fitz can prove it. Libby for sure is screwed here.
Posted by Brian Bell at October 17, 2005 11:10 PMWhy would Libby sell out Cheney when all he has to do is wait for a presidential pardon when Bush leaves office?
If he talks he's done with the Republicans.

Scooter almost certainly would take a bullet for Cheney. But it may be beyond that. If Bush himself gets indicted, pardons are going to be a lot more problematic.
I think that one of the most telling things about this particular situation is the nearly complete lack of pushback from Karl Rove of all people. I mean this guy makes a living smearing his opponents but he has completely backed off. Why? Probably because Fritz has him backed into a legal corner. Both Judy and Rove have had to resort to the lame "I don't remember who I talked to about this stuff" excuse. This will not float on the grand jury and everyone knows it.
Novak's two senior administration officials told a lot of people about Plame. Whole newsrooms know who did this deed. This suggest to me that Fritz has the proof he needs to paint the whole picture. The damage done by this criminal act was severe and he has three judges backing him up. He is poised to indict Bush, Cheney, Scooter, Rove, Bolton and Judy with multiple counts each.
Maybe I am crazy to believe this. But when I first heard about Novak's column, I thought, surely this blatant criminal act demonstrates that hubris has reached toxic levels in the White House. They are no longer even trying to be careful. They clearly think that they are above the law and this just might be their downfall. Three years later, and I may just be right.
