The mad scrambling which must be going on a the White House today is focuses on one single thing: Save the Bush Presidency. Any and all will be sacrificed to that end, and any and all lies, spin and blameshifting will be used, with a still-compliant Media, to save Bush. However, whether the Overlords of the GOP Conservative Religious wing even want to save Bush at this point is the real question that will rear it's head over the next month.

Miers is done. But the administration is in quite a quandry. They can't have indictments of top advisors and the withdrawl of a SCOTUS nominee in the same news cycle. I'm sure there's pressure for Miers to remove herself but there's probably more resistance to that than support. The hearings will go on but I believe she will be voted down by the judiciary committee. If not them then in the full Senate. Forstalling that eventuallity is probably more palatable to the White House cabal than taking two torpedos at the same time. Regardless, the torpedos are in the water and lifeboats are being made ready because the rudder is locked and evasive maneuvers are not an option.

Listening to Jerry Springer talk about DeLay's phony booking photo...well, I for one am glad to know that folks can now "dress up" and SMILE and have their retakes until they get the one they want to give their relatives and friends! It may cost the taxpayers a bit more but how very nice for the criminals. I'm not as bothered as some by the lack of "numbers" under his grinning image...just wanted to see the words..."I am NOT a crook!" in hopes that the outcome would be the same...

And people laughed at me when I mugged for the DOT on my driver's license photo.

Justification!

Hm. Low and Left is now blocked at work.

The office firewall is weird. DailyKos passes, but StreetProphets was blocked in 2 days.

Posted by idiosynchronic at October 21, 2005 07:28 AM

idio, probably due to my potty mouth, or Delay's ugly mug. Is there any way to find out why something gets blocked?

Posted by iamcoyote at October 21, 2005 08:07 AM

Low and Left is now blocked at work.

I sent Karl the URL and he sent out the orders. Firewall companies are making he updates accordingly.

I can't understand why more hasn't been made of the article written by Gene C. Gerard, "VA Seeks To Punish Iraq War Veterans"? It's posted at DU, LEFT is RIGHT, and only a few other blogspots! It's not even posted at some of the better Veteran's blogs! They should be ashamed for not bringing this news to the forefront, we certainly know MSM won't do it!!
bu$hco is screwing with the lives of the people who are carrying out his lies! If he does not take care of them, there will be some pissed off Afghan and Iraqi War Veterans. These kids coming home, with their desensitized background, are going to make the Vietnam Vets look tame!!

We're honored, mucky, that you consider L&L enough of a threat to the administration that we must be silenced. Heh.

Are you familiar with MSOC's potty mouth? She makes you look tame, o pixie-ish one. And MyLeftWing still passes the firewall.

It's exceptionally hit or miss. Blogspot and Livejournal are blocked - Typepad isn't.

My best guess is that as the St.Bernard firewall system has admins who protect DailyKos and other libby big-wigs on their whitelists, but the smaller derivative blogs are promptly blacklisted as they crop up as they use a different DNS with the same IP as an established domain. It's an established run-around of other internet filtering systems by malware and spybot producers. I'm not the admin though.

DeLay wants a new judge.

From the NYTimes:

In the motion asking that Judge Perkins step aside, or be pushed aside, Mr. DeGuerin said that Judge Perkins "has made political contributions to causes and persons opposed to Tom DeLay," and that he has "involved himself in political matters, invariably aligning himself in opposition to Tom DeLay and Tom DeLay's political affiliation."

The motion cited contributions of $35 to $1,000 by Judge Perkins to Texas Democratic candidates, the state Democratic Party and the presidential campaign of Senator John Kerry, as well as a $200 contribution to the liberal organization MoveOn.org.

Mr. DeGuerin said MoveOn.org. had been selling T-shirts bearing the image of Mr. DeLay's mug shot.

Funny, but I couldn't find any Tom DeLay mug shot t-shirts on moveon.org or anywhere else for that matter.

Posted by ann at October 21, 2005 11:02 AM

Oh, I take that back. You can find the t-shirts here: get 'em while they're hot

Doesn't seem to be affiliated with moveon.org, though.

Posted by ann at October 21, 2005 11:05 AM

So a judges political affiliations now disqualify them from being able to judge a case on its merits?

Is the GOP sure it wants to go down that path?

Posted by snark at October 21, 2005 11:48 AM

Whoa, idio, that's some serious firepower. I want one! Them racoons won't be stealing my crocus bulbs this year, heh heh heh.

And God forbid they support moveon.org! But make sure you manage to slander/libel moveon.org while you're in the process of trying to get a new judge. Make sure you remind people how bad a liberal organization it is.

Odd you put it that way. Mine's for shooting the cat next door when he's assulting my siamese sweetie. I've had it with the fucker - he's going to be crapping orange pellets for the next month if I see him even look in my yard. Bad enough his owners operate a fucking stock car garage and racing team from their home at all hours - but I draw the line at their animal beating up my cat.

Like I said - guilty pleasures.

Posted by idiosynchronic at October 21, 2005 02:47 PM

I didn't know that if I am ever brought before a judge for a crime, I can insist that, if I don't like the judge's political leanings, a different judge. Oy, only in America.

Yesterday I heard a statement that I am passing along to those who believe in Choice. The anti-choice people are not anti-choice, they are PRO-FORCED BIRTH. From here on out, I will describe this particular group in that manner, for that is really their agenda.

Posted by Judith at October 21, 2005 03:51 PM

I use the soft pellets for the kitties, idio, 'cos apparently, some people like 'em. (I do like the siamese, tho - low maintenance)

Posted by iamcoyote at October 21, 2005 04:20 PM

Judith-
Pro-forced birth sounds like an accurate lable to me. I truly believe that some of these people pursue the forced-birth agenda because of some twisted desire to punish women. That baby, conceived under what some may consider less-than-ideal circumstances, is the punishment the woman must bear for her sins. The baby is the "Scarlet Letter".

Posted by OffTheFence at October 22, 2005 12:37 AM

OffTheFence, I agree completely with your statement. Pro-Forced Birth is indeed a punishment for women disguised as caring for the unborn.
