Gee, didn't the military ask the media not to turn this into a milestone? E&P says so.

The ones who are still alive and not embroiled in civil war while trying to survive without electricity and sewage services, that is. In other words, Chalabi and his friends.
Thanks for leaving the Democratic party, asshole. You would have given them a bad name.

I'm glad someone will thank them. The administration certainly won't.
Posted by tempus at October 25, 2005 01:49 PMThis point in tonight's Nightline should register with the "moral values" crowd:
Also tonight, we'll take a look at the rising divorce rate in the military -- another issue sure to make recruiting more difficult. Since 9/11, the divorce rate among the military has increased 53%, and among officers it's even higher. Military Chaplains say, while separation is nothing new for military families, the duration and frequency of deployments has increased. Faced with the challenge of keeping morale high in an all-volunteer Army, the military has begun intense marriage seminars for the troops and their families.

to thank the former democrat for helping christian America needlessly kill 2000 of my comrades ,in a war designed only to get Bush re-elected. This is not a real war it is an occupation fighting the people that do not approve of our invading THEIR country.
Steve Clemons is reporting that indictments will be handed down tomorrow with a presser to follow on Thursday.
Does that make this Fitzmas Eve?
Sorry for the OT.

Posted by tempus at October 25, 2005 02:20 PMA Former Dem. is rather like the flaming bag of dog poo you find on your porch, left by a prankster. My advice: If you must respond to the door bell, DON'T stomp on the bag of poo, that's what the flamer wants. Ignore it and the flame will soon die out, then the poo embers can be disposed of after they've cooled. (:>

Bagley, It doesn't matter what his name is, they have all died for bu$h's lies. Mother S would not have to whore anybody if it weren't for an illegal occupation!!
Take your EX-officer ass out of here, serve a real purpose, and go hang your head in shame. Prick!

There is no greater disrespect for the dead American soldiers than the continued lies their Commander-in-Chief told that lead to their sacrifice. It's time you moved out of your parents basement and found a job.
Tempus, thanks for reminding me that conservatives are 100% correct when they say that liberals are stuck in the past. The Iraq War is Vietnam, the Cia leak is Watergate/Nixon etc. Keep it up. When I start to worry a little about our chances next year, they are quickly dashed when I see posts like that.
God of War - Actually the electricity is above pre-war levels, but I wouldn't expect facts to get in the way of your fantasy world. I guess you'd be real happy if Saddam was still cutting out tongues and chopping off fingers.
Also, continuing to root for a civil war doesn't mean ir will happen (anymore than hoping that the forged documents about Bush were real).
Posted by The Real Truth at October 25, 2005 05:17 PMThanks Tempus, the words are still as meaningful today as in the 60's. I wish the youth of today had the same convictions and same determination to end this War as some of us did way back in ancient times.

Yes, your chances are quite dashed indeed.
Posted by dj moonbat at October 25, 2005 06:23 PMBush made a speech today, chuckling about his anniversary with Laura. I guess that is the way he supports their sacrifice. And he is our "war president". No wonder most people pay no attention to this war. It doesn't affect him, and it doesn't affect them either. Yet. No one even bothers to ask where are the wmd's, where's Osama? As a parent I feel their pain, but I guess since Bush never needs to worry about his daughters future he can just chuckle.

Sounds like a conservative; nothing real or true
about you pal.
It's all about money, buying the Christian vote
with your faith based garbage, than filling with cronies,
This is the Greed driven conservative movement
that now wastes our land ,our schools, and the heart of America.
Very Sad that bush and his Christian elite have turned our country into a backword 3rd world place to live.
No evolution here, thats for sure.
Arrests at White House

Why I'm Getting Arrested at the White House Today
October 26, 2005
The first reason I'm going to lie down, refuse to move, and wait to be arrested outside the White House
today is my belief that massive civil disobedience is needed if we are going to end the war and forestall the next war. The power of nonviolent sacrifice has been tried and tested. It may not work this time, but nothing else seems remotely likely to do the job, not even my most extravagant hopes for indictments. I'm being as practical as I know how to be. Public opinion is widely against the war in this country, in Iraq,
and around the world. Talk is cheap. Our democracy is a shell. Something more is needed.
But there are other reasons for my action. A few of them are...
David Swanson's diary :: ::
* Solidarity - I've been encouraging civil disobedience and reporting on it, but have not been engaging in it.
If I miss another useful opportunity to engage in it, I become a hypocrite and a bad example. And were I to miss it, I would miss the bonds of solidarity that are formed in such actions.
If you think I am right, what do you think about what you, yourself, are doing? Or not doing?
Admiration - I plan to get arrested together with Cindy Sheehan and other leaders of the movement for peace, including veterans of the war and family members of the dead. I greatly admire these people and consider it an honor to act with them.
Honor - I want to honor and remember the people whose lives have been most directly destroyed by this war, including those who have fought in it on both sides, and those - the vast majority of the dead -- who have died in this war without ever picking up a gun. These people have been brutally attacked from behind a desk in an oval-shaped office. Children have lost limbs and minds by the tens of thousands for the greed and power of a small number of cruel people....
oin us! 6 p.m. E.T. at the White House.

U.S. REP. JIM MCGOVERN TO INTRODUCE BILL ENDING FUNDING FOR IRAQ WAR
Submitted by davidswanson on Tue, 2005-10-25
Since I haven't seen anyone here link to it, I thought I would. I'm planning to go out.
Not just for them but for you guys too who comment here. The numbers of how many will turn out are not really accurate. So if you can't find one near you, then maybe you could start one.

Posted by iamcoyote at October 26, 2005 05:50 AM"It doesn't matter what his name is..."
Not to you folks. To you folks he is just a number, and the number is a time for celebration on the left.
Mother S has another corpse to whore out.
Why 2000?
To me, 7, 67, 159, 1032, and 2074 are equally important, and as deserving of my recognition and thanks.
I visit many lefty blogs and come away with the same sense of disgust: that so many good men and women have died to protect your freedom to hold their service and their sacrifice in such contempt.
Let me ask you. These terrorists in Iraq, what would they be doing if they were not in Iraq? Weaving rugs for the tourist trade? I think not.
Contrary to the opinion of Michael Moore -- and many of you -- these are not the equivalent of the [our] Minute Men. These are murderers and they would be as happy to slit the throat of your child as they are to kill infants via suicide bombers in Iraq.
You folks do not care. To you people this is an oportunity: "hooray" you scream...an oportunity to bash Bush. "Hooray," you scream, an oportunity to relive the glory days:
"Thanks Tempus, the words are still as meaningful today as in the 60's. I wish the youth of today had the same convictions and same determination to end this War as some of us did way back in ancient times."
And in those ancient times, after the US left Viet Nam, how many millions of Vietnamese died in the re-education camps. How millions of Cambodians died in the Killing Fields.
How many died trying to escape.
Well boys and girls, if we lose in Iraq, it will be another victory for the left. But this time, after the killing fields have occurred in the Middle East.....the murderers will be coming here.
Remember 9/11. The murderers visited the US on that day. The worst nightmare is not GWB and the Republican party, but your hatered for them prevents you from envisioning what would be, collectively, for all of us, an irrecoverable nightmare.
And you people will be complicit in that nightmare.
Bagley, first of all, the "you people/you folks" thing is worn out. And if you were truly honest with yourself, you would admit that it is not a celebration. You know that no one here is gleeful about the loss of life. If you actually read any of the descriptions of what will happen, then you would see that what is planned is a far cry from a celebration.
I know you were reaching way back when you wrote this And in those ancient times, after the US left Viet Nam, how many millions of Vietnamese died in the re-education camps. How millions of Cambodians died in the Killing Fields.
How many died trying to escape. The point I read here is that war is hell. The point others were trying to make, I think, was that, given war is hell, why wage it on false pretenses? What rational makes it ok to pre-emptively strike another country when the justification is so very thin? Is it only a lack of imagination that explains the fact that the bush administration did not in fact exhaust all possible alternatives?
And you don't have to remind anyone about September 11th. It still impacts my daily life, as it does so many others. And many of them do not think it was the best move to invade Iraq.
You paint with such a broad brush, Bagley.
When I commented earlier and linked to the afsc site, I was thinking of you, too. I included you when I said Not just for them but for you guys too who comment here. I will go to the vigil and think of all of you -- the ones I know and the ones I don't.
