Steve,
Actually, the trolls are right about the Democrats being bankrupt as a political party.
They are pathetic, and the fact that the Republicans are even worse does not exonerate the Democrats.
If the Democrats are bankrupt but still beating Bush by 15-16 points, what does that make Bush and the GOP?
Posted by Steve Soto at October 26, 2005 10:24 PMI still don't think the Dems can take Congress back. They ought to make inroads, gains, in fact if they don't they're pitiful. But taking Congress back after so many losing years is a tall order.
Posted by Brian Bell at October 26, 2005 11:49 PMWe have a lot of work to do-- get rid of the Republicans AND the deadbeat Democrats.
Posted by elrod at October 27, 2005 12:15 AM'I don't belong to any organized political party, I'm a Democrat." - Will Rogers. The Democrats in control of the Democratic Party, many of them are incompetents who won't be able to make gains even though they have been handed a golden opportunity to do so.
Posted by condor at October 27, 2005 12:24 AMWow. I guess we conservatives should just go slink into our caves and just give up.
You guys really amuse me.
Yeah, your really beating the Republicans - everywhere, except of course at the ballot box.
If this was a socialist country (which I know you hope for), then you'd be sitting pretty.
But keep at it. You've apparently convinced yourself your going to win next year. Just like you siad in 2002 and 2004.
Posted by The Real Truth at October 27, 2005 04:59 AMOn no, Bush will get killed the next time he runs for President. LOL.
Posted by The Real Truth at October 27, 2005 05:01 AMthe problem for the dems is that in 2008 w will be more involved with get the furniture and personal stuff boxed up for shipment to crawford....you will not have him to run against. there will be some fresh republican face who can put some space between himself or herself ( a bow to ms rice) and it wont necessarily be a cakewalk for the dems. indeed, if the senator from ny with two x chromosomes is the standard bearer ,she lugs around some heavy baggage and will be an easy and convenient target. anyway, dont get complacent as there is a lotta race left to run.....i am not sure where i fall on political spectrum but most of the stuff here is excellent and interesting. jjj

That's a joke right?
There's gonna be about as much space between Rice and Bush as there was between Clinton and Gore. Rice will be about as fresh as a ten dollar whore in 2008.
Fresh faces?
Where?
Posted by snark at October 27, 2005 06:19 AMhow about mccain/rice as republican duo.......mccain isnt joined at the hip to w and the press loves him...he would not be an instant tart of their jibes...and maybe ms rice could be or that ticket what lbj was for jfk in 1960. he was key to victory as jfk cold not have carried texas without the help of his running mate....in a similiar vain, the first black woman candidate for national office would likely siphon away enough crucial african american votes in some toss up states to matter......that is (in my humble opinion) a plausible scenario.....thanks.jjj
So your saying that Bush can't win a third term? You are a super smart fellow. I wonder how many Electoral Votes an unnamed Democrat candidate will get? To summarize the Democrats stragtegery for 2006 and 2008 is to run an unnamed candidate(s) in hopes that that will beat a named GOP candidate(s)? Ok guys I won’t try to point out the obvious flaws in your reasoning. I will leave you with this recent quote from a very famous pollster (because you like polls): "The Democrats aren't scoring points in terms of landing any significant punches on Bush or in terms of saying anything meaningful to the American people," Mr. Zogby said.

Until she opens her mouth enough times. Once they know what she really stands for, African Americans will vote with their heads, not their hearts.
Posted by rlp at October 27, 2005 08:08 AMIf Bush ran today, he would lose, with voters knowing finally now what they should have known all along. The poll results are there for everyone to see. Bush will not be helping the GOP keep Congress next year. Plain and simple.
Posted by Steve Soto at October 27, 2005 08:15 AMRegardless of what you may believe the Democrats are still in trouble and it would take little for the Republicans to distance themselves from Bush or is that Bust. Once the Republicans have distanced themselves it will still be up to the Democrats to come up with something other than the lame attempts of the DLC to appear Republican lite. The Presidents woes are not a sure thing for the Democrats.
