Why do we always have to be right? Hey trolls, can't you even win an election without lying, fraud and deceit?

GAO REPORT

by Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman
October 26, 2005

As a legal noose appears to be tightening around the Bush/Cheney/Rove
inner circle, a shocking government report shows the floor under the
legitimacy of their alleged election to the White House is crumbling.

The latest critical confirmation of key indicators that the election of
2004 was stolen comes in an extremely powerful, penetrating report from
the General Accounting Office that has gotten virtually no mainstream
media coverage.

The government's lead investigative agency is known for its general
incorruptibility and its through, in-depth analyses. Its concurrence
with assertions widely dismissed as "conspiracy theories" adds crucial
new weight to the case that Team Bush has no legitimate business being
in the White House.

I was doing some backround checking on the names mentioned in Richard Sale's latest UPI pice on the Plame investigations - he mentions Gen. Wayne Downing and Frances Brooke as possible targets.

According to the paper "Truth from These Podia", often cited here, Frances Brooke worked with Linda Flohr, a 27 year veteran of the CIA's clandestine service (with one Valerie Plame?) according to the New Yorker. Flohr worked at the Rendon Group with Brooke and in the joint US-UK Coalition Information Center with Downing. Is this anything?

Could Fitzgerald be looking into violations of the Smith-Mundt Act, which prohibits the disseminating of propaganda to a domestic audience? What (if anything) does this have to do with the Niger forgeries out of Italy?

My head be exploding.

stick a fork in Miers, she's done. Who will George now turn to as the "second best choice" he can find. Now that Rove will likely lose his WH job, could he be the new SC nominee? Or maybe Brent Scowcroft?nah. Maybe one of the grandest gestures Bush could make would be to nominate one of the Shia Clerics now running Iraq - they already have the robes...or maybe Hillary -get her out of the 2008 race. Or, to satisfy the "base" maybe Grover Nordquist, or the Grand Dragon of the KKK (he already has his robe, too) .

Harriet Meirs has withdrawn, "Raw Story".

Damn, we got some spam.

I want that GAO report available online NOW.

Posted by idiosynchronic at October 27, 2005 06:22 AM

Hell with Raw Story - It's all over the morning news media. Here's the meme:

[Bush] blamed her withdrawal on calls in the Senate for the release of internal White House documents that the administration has insisted were protected by executive privilege.

"It is clear that senators would not be satisfied until they gained access to internal documents concerning advice provided during her tenure at the White House -- disclosures that would undermine a president's ability to receive candid counsel," Bush said.

Why is that when the White House has something to hide, they run for executive priviledge?

And, duh, Dubya, what do you expect when you nominate a candidate with absolutely no judicial record and has been at least peripheral to most of the White House events for 5 years? Did you just just think those Senators were going to line up on their knees to endorse your appointee?

Posted by idiosynchronic at October 27, 2005 06:28 AM

Don't know who Jr. is going to appoint now. There a two schools of thought here: 1. He will appoint a reactionary to play to his base but will probably failed to win nomination. 2. He will pick someone who is an easy nomination since he has zero political capital.

I bet he won't be asking Andy Card for his advice this time.

Heard on the radio: Jebbie apologizes for not getting help to people fast enough - says he takes full responsibility. Seems like the vaulted Florida preparation for disasters was outmatched by Wilma. Wonder why his big bro didn't call out the military to take over the disaster response efforts.

Mary,

You are absolutely right and I have now changed my party affiliation.

Once I learned that the poor residents of Palm Beach were eating the corpses of the people who died waiting in the four hour lines for ice and water, the mismanagement of the Bush administration struck me.

Couldn’t Jeb control the riots of retirees in Naples? Where was the National Guard when people in the Marco Island emergency shelters were being raped and murdered? This corrupt cabal of republicans needs to be removed by force. My God, there are citizens still without electricity – Oh the humanity!

And btw, muck. Not too long ago you were saying inflation was a non-issue. Do you still stand by that?

Posted by Cosrai at October 26, 2005 02:20 PM

From yesterday's OPEN THREAD, just thought I'd carry this one forward.

Absolutely, the core rate year over year is just 2%. Higher energy prices act like a tax hike on consumers, and tax hikes are not inflationary. Looks like the new Fed Chair to be Bernanke agrees with this. Fortunately for investors, the i-bond rates (announced next week) are based on the total number, not the core rate. So there will probably be one heckuva rate on i-bonds for the next 6-months, that far outpaces core inflation. For those interested in fixed income investments, anyways.

I can't remember the person who replied to my "you need to invest" comment, and said that many folks are living paycheck to paycheck, and therefore have no money to save/invest. I'll just restate that people need to spend wisely. If you're living paycheck to paycheck, and not saving and investing, you're not spending wisely.

It's that simple.

Pay yourself first. At least 10%. Treat that 401(k) plan as a monthly bill, just like the house payment.

Not while Jr. is in office. The man can't do anything but make the ecomony worse. If I were one of those tin foil types, I would think that he has some sort of curse on him.

My 401K LOST money for several years before I finally took it out of the stock market. Jr. + stock market=losing money.

Mucky, you've never been poor, have you? Otherwise you'd know how much of a prick you really are.

Posted by iamcoyote at October 27, 2005 09:01 AM

Coyote, the reason folks are poor is because of bad choices. Not saving at least 10% of your income is making a bad choice. There really isn't any excuse not to do it.

My 401K LOST money for several years before I finally took it out of the stock market. Jr. + stock market=losing money.

Wrong conclusion, because the bear market started in 2000 when W. and McCain were battling in the primaries. Check out a stockchart, and look at the January 2000 top in the DOW, and the March 2000 tops in the Nasdaq and SP500. By the time W was being sworn in (January 2001), the Nasdaq was already down over 25%.

In October 2002, the SP500 was under 800. Now it's near 1200. Hopefully, you've caught this bull market. You weren't one of these folks who got panic stricken at the market lows and sold on the bottom tick, were you?

Those who have maintained the discipline of dollar cost averaging into the market over, are doing fine. Over the long term, stocks have outperformed every other investment class. Better than bonds. Better than real estate. Etc.

muck, Not eating is a bad choice! Not having heat in the cold is a bad choice! Not paying your water bill is a bad choice! Saving when you can't, is not a bad choice!!!

Working for the County, I have met a lot of poor people over the last eight years. To say they all have anything in common except a lack of money is just plain ignorance.

Posted by Jim Hurt at October 27, 2005 12:26 PM

LOL Muck. Jr. has been President for almost five years now and the NYSE has been stagnant. I don't care about NASDAQ. NASDAQ is highly speculative.

Muck, you are truly clueless as to saving money. Obviously, you don't have a family or you wouldn't say something so ignorant. Life happens. The only people who can save 10% of their income are single people who have decent paying jobs. You can't do that when you work at Wal Mart.

Idiosynchronic, George Walker Bush will go to hell. That's only four pictures. There are thousands of pictures. I think the Bible warns against harming the hair on the head of one innocent child (and that includes those of a different culture). The trolls will tell us that it's just collateral damage in a War. I say it is genecide, and it is unforgiveable. How that BASTARD who sits in the WH can sleep at night, is beyond my comprehension.

Posted by Judith at October 27, 2005 03:28 PM

Ga6 and Coyote, don't give me the liberal line of crap that it can't be done. Poor isn't a condition, it should only be a temporary circumstance.

Choices. Unless you're handicapped or get hit by a bus along the way, everything is about the choices you make.

Unless folks save and invest, I don't see how they'll ever stop being poor. Saving and investing is the easy way. Playing lotto scratchers is the long shot.

I remember starting saving with $20 a month. That was it. Seemed hopeless. But you have to start somewhere.

Ga6 says the NYSE has been stagnant for 5 years. Gee, that seens like a good opportunity to accumulate shares via dollar cost averaging. Because can you name me a 20-yr period where the stock market, including dividends, declined? (The answer to this is no, by the way.)

Do you think the market will be higher or lower 20 years from now?

Investing isn't like playing lotto scratchers, Ga6. It's a long-term way to save, invest, and grow with the US economy.

I have to laugh at a commentary I read somewhere, that said while the former New Orleans poor residents have fled to states that are offering assistance and aid, other poor folks are coming in to work and rebuild the city.

Choices. Many of these former New Orleans folks could get off the dole, and go work for a company that is rebuilding the city. Seems like there'd be opportunity there to get a paycheck and gain some skills.
