Impressively connected. How the dots will further connect remains to be seen. Senator Pat Roberts thinks he can wrap up the Harry Reid demanded phase Two Intel investigation by . . . . November 14. More on this at YELLOWCAKE JOURNALISM

eR

Doesn't the July 2000 date put it in the heart of transition to civilian government, while the 2001 date puts it outside that transition?

That is, they weren't so much trying to avoid the wrong day of the week, but they were trying to avoid a time when the State Court wasn't really meeting much. (I don't know the exact dates here, but a vague memory says July 2000 was a really chaotic time in Niger.

You know, very OT, but I had a friend in grad school who was working on Nigerien things. She spent quite a lot of time there (a year and a half) between 1996 and 2002. Maybe it's time I hunted her down. She's got to be one of like 12 Americans who really knows Niger well. She and Joe Wilson.

emptywheel, you may be right. I need to brush up some more on Niger's history. Let me know if you locate your friend :)

The chain of command is purposely not transparent. Responsibility is distorted. The waters are muddied. It is warped victory over truth for which our democracy, such as it is, is paying a terrible price. Worse than the Gulf of Tonkin by an order of magnitude.

Thought you would like to see this new article from Knight Rider. The main point I thought was interesting is this passage that must be refering to the second report that was written up 0n 2/05/02.

One of the reports passed by SISMI contained language that turned out to have been lifted verbatim from crudely forged documents that outlined the purported uranium-ore deal, the U.S. officials said.

Re "Wednesday July 7, 2000"

July 7 is indeed a Wednesday IN THE YEAR 1999.
