I already dumped my steaming, stewing brain out at Low & Left. Sorry, Mary. Considering the nature of the rant, I might as well spead 'em and blogwhore too.

Warning to the good people of Dover, PA:

Resident televangelist and whackjob Pat Robertson apprently has it on good authority that God has lifted his protection from natural disasters over your town. In apparent retribution for voting out your school board. The same school board who felt Intelligent Design trumps Evolution as actual science.

Actually I'm still praying for God to lift his protection over Robertson from Federal Prosecution. I'm sure if the concept of Racketeering were around during Old Testament time, it would have been Commandment number 11.

Posted by Jason at November 11, 2005 08:01 AM

Apparently Robertson believes that God is vindictive and not compassionate. Are we sure Robertson is a Christian?

Dispatch from GooperWorld.

Deep in the heart of reddest Texas:

Ola! Although the Rednecks have a little joy in their heart over their continuing oppression of gay folk, there is very little optimism.

W stickers continue to dissapear, and the local city counsel is starting a PR campaign to redifine the city away from the cultural backwater it is.

Good luck with that after the Bubba-celebration fast the last 2 years have been.

Its kind of like they woke up with a bad hang-over and realized they were at a gay orgy.Very shocking thing for a god-fearin country boy.

No one really wants to talk about anything but the draught and 85deg weather.(can you say global warming)

I never miss the oppertunity to sport my Dean for America T-shirt.

Life is good again, I just hope the damage to my country isn't permenant.

I will never forget what we have been through, and who did the deed. Never.

In apparent retribution for voting out your school board.

Robertson jumped the shark on that one. It's one thing to advocate the assasination of a Central American friend of Fidel. Quite another to give the middle finger to every non-rapturist in America.

When I used to try the middle-of-the-roaders that the American Taliban(tm) was way out of control, they used to scoff.

With the Mullahs having to bless SCOTUS nominees, and whacko creationist school board members, Roberts just sealed the deal with a kiss.Moderates are quite clear on the concept now.

I wonder how the captive lions breeding program is going, because if we are always going to be accused of oppressing these cultist then we might as well get some entertainment out of the deal.

Posted by SnarkyShark at November 11, 2005 08:23 AM

When I used to try the middle-of-the-roaders

used to try to tell the middle.....damn Cannibas(tm), get out of my brain!

Posted by SnarkyShark at November 11, 2005 08:26 AM

Here is the deal. The HardRight has the whitereligiousnuts in their pocket. That was clearly evident in the Prop 2 vote in Texas. So, lets be hypothetical: you have an election with 100,000 registered voters. 20% whitereligiousnuts under direct control of Rovian GOPers. We know only about 50% of voters turn out for elections, so that reduces the vote count from the 100k to 50,000 votes cast. BUT the 20,000 GOPreligiousnuts ALL show up as their pastors ordered. That means the GOPers only need to find 5,000 more votes and they are at 50% (and they'll cheat for the extra 1%). So with only 30% of the registered voters, they manage to win elections.

What's funny is that the members of the school board who were just elected have already rubber stamped teaching Intelligent Design. So what's he being so pissy about?

Posted by at November 11, 2005 08:30 AM

Didn't Robertson just confirm that ID is actually about his own personal Jesus, lifting the pseudo-science moniker to show the creationist underneath? He sure did. Between him and O'Liely inviting terrorists to bomb San Francisco for trying to keep recruiters out of high schools, the wingnuts have shown their traitorous asses like baboons in a zoo. Thanks for the laughs, wingnuttia!

Are we sure Robertson is a Christian?

We are sure he is not. What a complete lunatic. Despite the horror show we endure from Jr., can you possibly imagine what would have happened if Robertson had been elected president? If this unholy dog dropping represents religion, it’s no wonder I’m an atheist.

I think there's a lying-to-Congress problem with this "Scalito" guy I keep hearing about. Man, it would be awesome if two nominees went down without Democrats having to go nukyaler.

Bush's Veteran's Day speech today is going to be on the topic of the War on Terror. As though we just haven't heard enough about his non plan: stay the course. I do hear that he's planning to address accusations that they lied about WMDs. This at a point when six in ten Americans doubt Bush's honesty.

I tried to post this yesterday and failed. A long but interesting article on what's next for the GOP. From Andrew Sullivan's blog:

Believe it or not, I agree with the assessment that Pat robertson is a NUT. I can assure you most Christians do not think like he does (think God).

He and Quasi Efume both need paded cells.

I know I probably spelled his name wrong but I have no time at the moment to search for it. Sorry.

Very interesting news out of Italy this morning, and news which appears to confirm a theory advanced recently by a poster at theleftcoaster.com...

I have been wondering about something for some time. Remember when, in the run up to the Iraq war, the Iraqi government was pressed to give its report on its weapons programs? Then, the report came out and it was quite long, thousands of pages if I remember right. After that, before anyone could have reasonable read and digested it, Administration flaks (I specifically remember then National Security Advisor Rice being one of them) criticized the report as a pack of lies and before long, we were off to war. Now, in retrospect, we know that there were no WMD's. What I wonder is this: How close was the information in the report to the reality that was actually discovered after the invasion? Was the report correct in its revelations about Iraq's weapons programs? Was the report itself more truthful than the propaganda we received from our own government? Just wondering.

Fuck you. I'm glad you've found your natural home and are no longer polluting our house with your steaming shit.

If that's the biggest thing on your mind that you could think of to contribute here you're surely in the correct party along with the good Rev. Robertson.

Let me just say if I were a Republican I'd be hoping you'd stop posting comments here. I'd imagine it's really rather embarrassing for them.

Josh Marshall could have linked to eriposte's research, or at least mentioned our blogger by name. Pretty stingy with the kudos, there Josh.

I love Josh, don't get me wrong. I just hope to see that eriposte gets credit for the outstanding research on this topic.

That's Ms. coyote to you, Mr. B. But yeah, give JMM a chance to make good toward eriposte, whose slogging through documents surpasses even emptywheel for analytical rigor.

If the 2006 elections were held today... (according to Zogby):

Even with today's horrible approval ratings, the republicans are projected to carry the Senate, 53-43-1. Of the three rated "tie" 2 are leaning (D) and one leaning (R).

Haven't found House polls, but the Dems need to net 15 wins to take control. Most political opinions I've read think the Democrats can manage gains in the high-single digits. Not enough to win the House. The redistricting defeats in CA and OH probably saved this one for the GOP.

The WSJ link has governor's races, and the Democrats do look to net out quite a few gains there. Currently 28 GOP and 22 Democrat. Forecast shows 22 GOP, 25 Democrat, and 3 rated tie. This includes the projected wins in Virginia and New Jersey by Democrats, and assumes Arnold will lose to Angelides in CA.

Fortunately for America, we still have time.

Posted by dj moonbat at November 11, 2005 02:51 PM

I wonder if Zogby took Don Sherwood, that fine upstanding family values representative from PA into consideration -- especially after he slipped his settlement with his long time girlfriend into the news on election day.

Jason, what is most distrubing about Pat Robertson, a minister of God's Word, is his use of non-scripture. To tell people that God is going to condemn them is so anti-Christian and anti-God's Word. Furthermore, to suggest that there is no forgiveness and God's revenge will come upon you, is enough for this man to be stripped of any and all duties as a minister. He truly is evil and a wacko.

One last thought, if God was into doing destructive things to people for their actions, i.e., voting the school board out, this WH would have met God's judgement long before now.

Attack at the Syrian border, Chalabi in DC, Hadley rant, Rove on Blitzer, Rice in Mosul, Suicide in Amman, Bush the Chimp rant on Vets' Day ... there is no coincidence the proximity of these events nor the inverted 119 symbolism. When the reactionaries hit back they mean fucking business. They did the same thing in Vietnam. Rumsfeld and Cheney go deeper moving their hooligan sycophants into position. Likud guards in DC make plans to unravel the borders before there is time to investigate. There's no stoppping them. The ratings and polls be damned. Greater Isreal requires chaos and sick profits to cover the tracks. Western Asia is a distraction from escalating China. The 2002 elections were the cause of the timed invasion and 911 was a set up. Iraq was a target long before the steady bombings and "no fly zone" despite the legions of inspections. Zealotry has it's virtues. Like Bill Keller said. Wolfowitz is patient.
