so pessimist, are you still going to post on To The Barricades? and you know i like the tunes!
Posted by nick danger at October 5, 2003 05:18 PMYou know, Pessimist, my voting record and yours shares common ground. But I knew John Anderson was a right wing nutter. And, I voted for him anyway. Because I hated Carter and wanted him OUT of the White House; and I knew Reagan was gonna win. But not with my vote. That man couldn't parent worth a damn. He was an actor, all right.
Yup. On Ross Perot. Saw him on Larry King the night it all started. You know, I actually used to watch television? Volunteered for his campaign. And, threw my vote into his 19%. If he didn't go totally nuts and withdraw, and then change his mind, I think he'd have done better. But it didn't matter. He proved you could hate a Bush and also pull a Bush off his high horse.
Clinton? Didn't get impressed right away.
Even used to listen to Limbaugh. He didn't get repititious for the first six months. But I got to really LIKE Clinton! The Monica scandal didn't phase me. It was just the CIA bagmen up to their usual tricks.
Now, of course, it's hard to tell just who is supposed to be victimized by Plame and her husband, Wilson. These two pieces of work are very twisted characters. And, you can't underestimate how George Tenet 'may' be just trying to stave off blame from the CIA for all the calamities brought to our shores, by our government's deeply imbedded friends, The Saudis.
We're not out of the woods, yet.
This isn't Vietnam.
It would be nice if our world ran on stuff other than the strong dependence on oil ... but it doesn't.
And, those enemies are real, too.
My guess is that the democrats are doing well now because Bill and Hillary Clinton, close to the source of power, are brilliant at strategy.
Our CIA is NOT brilliant at strategy.
And, Bush is terrified of people who haven't proven their loyalities to the "family" (not the country) since the days of Prescott Bush. And, you've got to go back to Hitler to get perspective here.
Real money in our country has been funnelled to the right wing. Including the phony war on drugs.
Rehnquist, I think, gave this Bush only 4 years to work his mischief. He's just done a lot more mischief than anyone thought he could get away with, because he capitalized on 9/11.
Who knows what the future holds?
At least it doesn't seem the right wing nutters have all the momentum. There seems to be a future ahead worth rooting for.
This Bush's idea of bringing integrity to the White House (one of his campaign promises), has more to do with his promise to screw Laura Bush, as if what Bill & Hill were doing (or not doing) was any of our businesses. Integrity, however, was not the word that describes this policy best. Ya know.
Posted by Carol in California at October 5, 2003 06:15 PMwelcome pessimist. I have enjoyed your postings on blogs for a while now. I think it's always interesting to get someone's biography. Even the most average joe, imho, has a fascinating biography.

My intention is to continue posting at To The Barricades as well. I am still working out exactly how I will do this, but I want to have different lines of topics on each site. We'll see how it develops.
Thanks to everyone else for your kind words.

Posted by Hoosiercat at October 6, 2003 08:46 AMWelcome pessimist! My first Prez vote and I went with Anderson too. Why? Because I knew that reagan was a complete wrong turn, and Carter, I dunno, perhaps that SCLM sold me on his incompetence. What did I know, waaaay back then!
If we had listened better to a person speaking from the heart instead of reading lines, maybe we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today. Or not. What was cute back then, "There you go again!" "Well, I don't know!" is sickening now, and if schwartzenhat gets selected, sickening won't begin to describe it.
But, as somebody once said, "The times they are a-changin." Or something like that.
