Comments: Big Dog Now Has A Lot of AOL Fans

Yeh, sure Steve, but when I fed these numbers into my Diebold home machine, I got:

Who is more trustworthy?

Clinton 22%
Bush 18%
Cheney 60%
Total Votes: 395,409
Manipulated Votes: 212,519

Who is the better president?
Clinton 25%
Bush 13%
Hoover 62%
Total Votes: 399,549
Rejected Votes 102,506

I'm not sure whether to trust AOL or Diebold on this one.

Love the affair with carefully selected polls on this site. Is this a liberal thing? Better poll: How many polls did Clinton consult before making all 3 decisions as president? (A) 1000, or (B) 5000.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. AOL politics polls are like asking all Suburu drivers / NPR listeners / Apple computer users / NY Times-propaganda-readers who they like better, Bush or Clinton?

Big surprise.

Keep trying Hindu, keep trying...

Actually, Hindu, I think AOL polls are usually more conservative.

It's an even bigger surprise because AOL uses are not techies and are less likely to be Democrats. You are under the misapprehension that the New York Times is liberal. It is a Republican paper which printed numerous lies by Judith Miller supporting Bush's war, lies by Jeff Gerth making up a troopergate story, and lies about Wen Ho Lee. The New York Times is propaganda, but it's Republican propaganda.

No one takes online polls very seriously, but to find one that is generally Republican showing such bad results, results in line with other, more reputable polls, is unusual.

Hindu, I've got to disagree with you on your analysis. As an ex AOL subscriber, I always felt that the results of their polls skewed right. Probably accurately reflecting the feeling of the American public. I switched ISP several months ago, so I'm not in touch with the trend of AOL's poll results, but I suspect that they still reflect the pulse of the public. Face it. America has had it up to here with the Bush/Cheney cabal. You guys are losing, and losing big, and you can't admit defeat. Get over it. Funny how that sounds just like what you guys have been saying for the last five years isn't it. Now try admitting the new reality. Or are you guys all the same? Unable to admit mistakes? Unwilling to admit defeat?

Here are some scientific polls which show the same thing:

Newsweek:
"Do you think the overall level of ethics and honesty in the federal government has risen, fallen or stayed the same with Bush as president?"

Risen 17%, Fallen 43%, Stayed the Same 39%

CNN:
When asked if they trust Bush more than they had Clinton, 48 percent of respondents said they trusted Bush less, while 36 percent said they trusted him more and 15 percent said they trusted Bush the same as Clinton.

Hindu,

And just what the fuck is wrong with Subarus?

Posted by Vinnie at November 16, 2005 09:07 PM

These polls are so banal. Why don't people ask questions that need to be answered? Such as....

Who gives better head?

A) Monica Lewinsky
B) Laura Bush

Ick.

Bush from the beginning knew about the ousting Valerie Plame. He probably chocked on the famous pretzel because Wilson came out and redress the lies... Woodward is now reveal that he was involved, but as a man that can articulate his words and so call the Watergate reporter is now involved with the WH cover up! He is a man that should be fires. . Did he not see this asshole for what he was writing is book on and help this WH with the lies? WP should fire him. They will loose more readers. The media is so corrupt that they are a joke. That is why from 1 in the free press, we reach 44 as good reporters’ real news? I see it every day on CNN. Thank for Democracy Now. I watch them only for real new for real news.

I agree with Elrod. When I used to have AOL, I noticed that the responses to their polls were extremely conservative.

Posted by ann at November 17, 2005 05:36 AM

This poll shouldn't be too surprising, really --- the results are basically Clinton's popularity when he left office and Bush's popularity now.

Posted by dm at November 17, 2005 05:52 AM

I have seen a big change in the AOL polling over a period of a year by subscribers. You are right, it has been conservative, and still is.

Don't bother Hindu with actual information about AOL!

In Right Wing World, his OPINION about AOL is a FACT.

Hindu, some of these folks worship at the alter of polling data. They have their favorite polling data, and consider any other polling data to be a "false religion."

I see a lot of the same thing in the investing world. There are many analysts who are bearish or bullish, and they all publish opinions.

Which ones you choose to listen to or value more depends on your views on the market. If you're bullish, you'll agree with the bullish analyts and think the bears are nuts. If you're bearish, you'll agree with the bearish analysts and think the bulls are nuts.

It's "the crowd" mentality. Most of these kind of folks don't think for themselves. Then they're completely shocked and blindsided when election outcomes or stock market direction goes exactly the opposite of whoever is misleading them.

They are right that Bush's approval ratings are extremely low. But they're not connecting the dots on what this means for the 2006 election cycle. Bush isn't running. And then folks here were against redistricting reform in CA and OH, which was kind of bizarre if they wanted to take back Congress. Even the liberal newspapers supported redistricting reform. The folks here didn't connect those dots. Gerrymandered districts make it so 90% or more of House seats aren't even contested.
