Live from Sacramento, it's Saturday Night!
Posted by muckdog at December 3, 2005 11:41 PMEmptywheel had a great post the other day about Bush's victory speech and Billmon's critique of it. Using lots of bulletpoints can definitely lose important connections and information.
Here's another example of thinking in Powerpoint that hilariously illustrates some of the problem.
Posted by Mary at December 4, 2005 02:07 AMSpeaking of Saturday Night Live, last night they showed the famous picture of Bush with the PLAN FOR VICTORY banner behind him. Then they zoom in to show the year 2048 in the right hand corner of the banner. LOL
Posted by Judith at December 4, 2005 06:41 AMThat PowerPoint Gettysburg address is an Internet classic. There's also an entire site dedicated to military-themed PowerPoint humor.
PowerPoint is just one of many dumbening (yes, I know that's not a word) influences in modern American life, of course. There's also USA Today, People magazine, and Sean Hannity.
Posted by dj moonbat at December 4, 2005 07:48 AMIs it just me, or does Bob Schieffer look like Yoda?
John Kerry gave a campaign speech on Schieffers joint. As usual it was a meandering hard to follow kind of thing, but I took notes and with the help of some rightous Dro(tm) was able to decipher these tidbits.
1. Kerry called for Bush to renounce those permanent bases.
2.Bush hyped, mislead, and witheld pertianent information from congress and the American people.
He made some other easily proven, now conventional wisdom talking points. Hopefully he didn't put the unwashed food-units into a coma, but I fear he did.
Its probably the Ganja(tm) talking, but I found todays Sundays clown shows to be fairly entertaining.
Reading between the lines....chimpy is delusional and McCain must be slid in the back door.
That works for me as long as it goes down with much rapidity, and McCain doesnt paln on serving past 2006.
Cause the people are ready to bet on the Donkey. The elephant appears to be stuck in some kind of tar pit.
Buy bye

Used to describe some paticular strain or another.

Katrina Emails Show Chaos....
Blanco Releases Katrina Records
La. Governor Seeks to 'Set the Record Straight'
"Bush's "entire effort on behalf of the federal government has been reflected in his and his people's nonchalant attitude to the people of LA. You may give him this to read."
"The documents, which were posted on the Internet late Friday, also provide the most detailed account yet of the harrowing conditions at the storm's epicenter, as state officials and emergency workers fought to retain control amid rising floodwaters and failing communications systems. Their release comes amid new efforts by Blanco to defend her government's much-criticized response to the nation's costliest natural disaster."

Posted by Judith at December 4, 2005 09:46 AMPeople magazine and Sean Hannity.
After taking a strange pill last night, and listening to a remarkably interesting conversation from under my usual pub table, I realized how misguided I have been in my life, and believe I had an epiphany.
I read People and listening to Sean before a root canal and really enjoyed the operation. I read an article on Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes, and suddenly understood everything the President has ever said, and why we are in Iraq and Venezuela. To think I wasted my life believing in JFK, RFK, and Gandhi. Fool.
I crawled bravely across the street, bought an XBOX, a new car, a very friendly girl down the street, and apparently a rare form of venereal disease. I don't have to pay until 2006! What a country! Muckpuppy, you are the Prophet.
I have burned my copy of the Tao of Pooh, re-papered my living room with George, Dick and Donald photo-ops, and bought a bronze plaque on that nice Jim Bakker's Wall of Faith. I might even upgrade, as it's apparently a limited time offer and my eternal soul we're talking about. I never thought about that.
Shares in Jack Abramoff's lobby company are so cheap, I got a pre-approved loan, and bought a large chunk against my dog’s wishes. He is so narrow-minded at times.
Judith, the SNL shot was cropped. It read "Bush/Cheney 2048". God is good. I still have $14.98 left on my new MasterCard, so I going back to see if I can find my new girlfriend.
Posted by tempus at December 4, 2005 10:36 AMOh, and I heard an amazing version of John Lennon's "Imagine" by Jessica Simpson, and realized how much better it was than the original.
I gave my entire collection of CD's and guitars to a nice man who said he would take them for only $25.00. What a day, and it's still not opening time at the pub.
