Comments: Aftermath of Katrina Continues to Expose the Bankruptcy of the Republican-led Government

Katrina has often been named as the turning point in the TV media reporting, and thus public opinion. Ofcourse the TV media could not miss out on those beautiful emotional pictures of people looking for loved ones or stuck on their rooftops. But these pictures begged the question.... “wait a minute... Why are these people *still* stuck”? So a big batch of critical coverage was born. This is an explanation I read from people in the TV business.

But it leaves one huge question:

Why was Cindy Sheehan on TV?

Seriously, there where protest marches with thousands of people which got far, far, less airtime. I am not saying I expect coverage to make rational sense (Congo, Malawi? malawhat?), I just expected far less Sheehan. The answer can't just be that camera crews camping outside the crawford ranch were bored and figured they might as well do a small fluffy human interest story. That would explain one fluffy huamn interest story.

My guess, TV media had an eye on the bush and war approval ratings and the TV ratings of critical reporting. They figured critical reporting would no longer hit them in their fight to stop loosing precious eyeball advertising surface to “fluffy feel-good good news” FOX and everyone who tried to be like them. They felt lots of their audience would no longer reach for the remote when the questions started. But then again I think that to some people bush his work is, like the work of celebrity, a tool to get people to look at the screen inbetween commercials.

On the historical approval rating front, noone should expect people (including TV media) to make long term plans that include being seen standing shoulder to shoulder with bush. This might mean starting with a fresh cool case of new trustworthy faces like some in the GOP would like. (including getting rid of DeLay) and getting a diffrend face with and opinoin on the war on the screen (murtha)

Why was Cindy Sheehan on TV?

If you are talking about the origianl protest, there is a simple answer. She was the one person who was willing to bear the brunt of all the hatreds that coalesced into the current damnation of our soul called the eternal war on a noun.

I could go on about the tense confrentations with the librul hatin cousin lovin locals. Or about all the people who came from all across the nation, not because they were enamored of Cindy, but because they needed to find penance for the crimes that were being perpetuated in their name.

I could tell you all this because I was right in the middle of it. But if you dont understand this by now, you never will.

If by your original question, you mean why wasnt all Katrina 24/7, with the Crawford event being blacked out, all I can say is: you are not the arbitrator of that.

Even if you think you should be.

If you all spent more time in prayer and less time watching corporate fascist TV shows, you'd be better off. No matter where Ms. Sheehan is, press covered or no, people who have brains know she is right. And when you are right, you are right.

However, on the lefty blogs, I do notice a lack of coverage for Mother S's recent activities.

Oh well, 15:01.

SnarkyShark, how is that....One. History. Course. Going.
