Comments: Rummy Steering Taxpayer Dollars To Rendon Group For Unpopular Afghanistan Propaganda Campaign

Shamelessly off topic, but I just saw an NBC report about rioting in Australia about those of Arab descent. Riots in France, riots in Australia, brewing anger in the US... what's happening to this world? I wonder if we're heading for some international terror.

Then there's the more on-topic concept of Pentagon spying on protest movements... NBC spoke of the latest MACDIS and showed bits of it. I unfortunately could not find a link in a timely manner.

I wonder if Hamid has yet figured out how he's been played! All that hype about being the George Washington of Afghanistan has to be wearing thin now that it's clear that it isn't a major hemorrhoid that pains his tail - it's that Bu$hCo hand that reaches up clear to his tonsils.

according to Olberman's show tonite, Rummy is also running a very robust spy operation on normal American citizens who don't toe the Bush line. Outrageous......but really, it's an outrage a day with these guys.

Duke and T2, I too saw that report. As a man said "have we learned nothing?" Those who protested against the Vietnam War knew damn well they were being tracked. Nixon certainly wanted to know who his enemies were, and the list included not only demonstrators but newspapers and journalists. Bush doesn't have to worry about the two latter groups, but he does have to worry about those who want peace or don't agree with this Administration. Dissent is no longer a right. By-the-way, in Nixon's day the public protested loud and clear. Today, the public doesn't care.

The riots in Australia are racially motivated. Whites vs. Arabs - or even just Arab looking people. I'm afraid we're heading for some very scary times.

This from the administration who investigated peace activists and environmental activists as suspected terrorists. Nothing surprises me about these people. Nothing.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that ever since Rumsfeld accused the media of not covering 'all the good' that goes on in Iraq, that now, every single soldier interviewed says 'we just want the people at home to know about all of the good things that we are doing and how happy that the Iraqis are that we are here'?

I also noticed that the two little girls (couldn't have been more than 22)that Anderson Cooper was interviewing were glancing at each other before they responded and the younger one was sucking on her lower lip. This was not just nervousness from being interviewed, seems to me it was nervousness that if they did not answer in 'the right way' there'd be hell to pay.

What the f*ck is Rummy peddling and does he not think that American people are smarter than this crap?!?!?

No more propaganda!

I'd like to think we're not a stupid nation, even if it may be wishful thinking. Americans generally like happy endings, and so will eagerly swallow the creamy nougat-wrapped Bits O' Propaganda the Pentagon confectionary machine churns out. Why not listen to it? It makes us feel good.
