What's remarkable is not that there were conflicts of interest, but that Kissinger did resign because of them. That's all too rare these days.

MattS - Kissinger didn't really step down because of the ethicality of conflicts of interest. He was faced with having to reveal the client list of the oh-so-creepy Kissinger Associates, Inc. and balked.
