Comments: No More Golden Fleece

Sorry that no one commented in your 'no more golden fleece post.'

I think that it is because we have now so tremendously exceeded anything that once resembled fiscal responsibility that the idea of addressing a good man who at one time found fleecing seems small when juxtaposed with the daily fleecing that occurs.

I thank you, pessimist, for paying such close attention to so much.

Isn't there another liberal Senator from Wisconsin who's pretty aggressive about how the government spends money? Pushed through some campaign finance reform? Doesn't take cost-of-living raises that are conveniently not voted on?

Surely, surely, we have a candidate to continue the Golden Fleece awards.

If memory serves me well, Proximire was also one of the most respected members of the Senate. I heard nothing of his passing, so thank you Pessimist for the post. Every generation has a Proximire, but today they seem to die in small plane crashes (Paul Wellstone).

Proxmire shook my hand, as well as many others at the entrance to the Miller 200 stock -car race in the late 70's. He was well respected by both sides. Unfortunately, he was not a Buhdist, so we are stuck with the current crop of cretins.
