Comments: Lies, Damn Lies, And Red State Fairy Tales

The modern GOP is the worst bunch of cowardly, bitchy thugs this nation has seen. Goddamn. They run EVERY BRANCH, and they piss and moan like they are fucking victims of The Man. Hey you fucks: You ARE The Man! Its you in the mirror! From whiny Frist to bitchy DeLay to Furious George and their Christ-killing blasphemous plebes, its comedy and tragedy at once.

Its really something to behold. Its deserving of a brutal asskicking.

After all, the right-wing christian middle-aged white male is the most persecuted group in America.

The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. These guys own every fucking thing in sight and they're still pissed?

Sick motherfuckers.

*****

Yeah, and they can't wait to tell you all about it, while simultaneously accusing "liberals" of living with a victim mentality and playing the victim card.

The hypocrisy is staggering.

I have some article emailed to me from one list serve or another, that I barely could read in my "I'm too tired" mode last night.

I will read it later today.

But it spoke of the way that it is so easy for America to fall into the "BE AFRAID" mentality.

Personally, I feel that the be afraid, powerlessness, mantra that they all chant in unison is really a way to avoid taking responsibility for one's self. If I am always a victim of 'colored terrorist threats' then I have excuses for not doing whatever it is that must be done.

The irony of the neo-cons who shout 'every one must be self-sufficient and never ever take a government handout' superimposed against the dichotomy of 'be afraid, be very afraid, give me your liberties and I will save you,' is indeed an interested psychological study.

The wingnut and neocon fear is displaced.

They should be afraid of me.

I read an article yesterday about the 500 folks to be laid off today at GM's tech center in Warren MI. One (former now) contract employee is quoted as saying, "It was unexpected." Deliberate blindness I guess.

Remember the Retirees! They are getting screwed also:

IBM to Change Pension Benefits to Save $3 Bln by 2010

Visited an old co-worker today. She said her 92 year old mom had hip replacement surgery last month. They did it then because GM's pension is due to change. Yep, CEO rips away 92 year old's security. Like taking candy from a baby. He must be proud of himself; probably gave himself an end-of-year bonus.

It is pathetic that corporations one by one trying to cut medical benifits to the retirees that were promised before. However it is easy to blame these corporations. But just think about the escalating cost of Health benifits. It is increasing by double digits every year. Since we do not have a National Health Insurance such as in Europe, employers are required to provide it to the employees. This has always put more burden and made US companies less competative compared with European companies. So far we made it up with our increased productivity. However, the rising medical costs are such that we cannot sustain them any longer.

It is time for our Congress to look into the Health Insurance issue and come up with a Comprehensive National Health Insurance for all Americans.

By the way the best health care in the world is in Sweden and it is through National Health care system. Why can't we do that?

Oh yes! And you can expect this "crybaby hypocrisy" to continue the more they solidify control of every facet of government. The more the Authoritarians control, the more they will claim to be oppressed. Co-opting the language of Progressives and the oppressed has been a master Orwellian stroke of Authoritarians in this country, and partly explains why Republicans are composed of a strange-bedfellow alliance of Authoritarians and Libertarians, groups that should be fundamentally incompatible.

Authoritarians didn't get very far in the 20th Century by being honest. Abandoning the Democratic Party, forming the Dixiecrats, and rallying around "Segregation Now! Segregation Forever!" didn't work. Indeed, their only real outright, honest 20th Century heydeys were during times of intense fear of Communism. Moreover, genuine Libertarian concerns about growing government programs and laws weren't finding their voice either.

What did seem to work was combining Libertarian language, Progressive notions of oppression, and Authoritarian fear mongering and control tactics.

Think about how everything is framed these days:

When a court rules that the government has no power to illegalize gay marriage, it's framed as a tyrannical court oppressing the will of the people, and forcing them to accept gay marriage, which is against the people's religion.

Anti-discrimination laws designed to offer equal opportunity in the workplace are framed as violations of the freedom of the employer (even if it's a non-sentient entity like an international corporation) to associate only with people the employer wants to associate with. Or, it's said that the employer's freedom of religion is violated by forcing him (it) to hire gay people.

The separation of church and state is itself being framed as a violation of the first amendment, as the ACLU is labled an oppressive regime banning religious displays on public property.

I could go on. The point is that crying oppressed resonates in this country, probably for a lot of very complicated reasons - historical, sociological, cultural, psychological - and the more control Authoritarians gain, the more they wlil cry oppressed.

Eventually, war will be peace and freedom will be slavery. (Or are we already there?)

It's time for a Jon Stewart quote:

"Does the Christian persecution complex have an expiration date? Because...you've all been in charge pretty much since...what was that guys name...Constantine. He converted in, what was it, 312 A.D. I'm just saying, enjoy your success."

We are at war with Iraq. We have always been at war with Iraq. We will always be at war with Iraq---no, Iran... Iraq is our ally. We have always been allied with Iraq...

I know people were pissed at the Transit Workers strike in New York, but every strike after this will be about keeping more on pensions and giving less back on healthcare, wages won't even be mentioned.

Time to wake the fuck up people.

I bet if Dems made health care a campaign issue, alot of Repubs would vote for them too.

Posted by Sharon at January 6, 2006 09:45 PM

Health Care?! But that's socialistic-commie-bastardism! It's not 'murican!

Posted by DukeRevolution at January 7, 2006 01:43 AM

Democrats could win running on that issue alone. Talk about fear. There isn't an American that doesn't fear not having coverage or not enough coverage.
