After reading yesterday's thread, I wonder why Carpe Diem (or crap of the day, as I like to call him) doesn't get as offended by the real violence done by Bu$hco and friends, and the real damage being done to his liberty, by the same, as he does by GOW's electronic rage? The false indignation is really laughable. Someday perhaps he will come to relize that the true patriots were those who cared enough to fight to defend our (his)liberties, rather than kiss up to the corrupt and vicious corporate overlords. Crappy, we're mostly offended by your comments, (which is obviously your intent). But you're always allowed to come over hear and unload your bile. So, about your faux indignation, get over yourself. How I wish you would focus your energies on the real criminals that have taken over our country, instead of wasting it on attacking those of us who actually care.

Look, I'm not here to threaten anybody. I'm here to tell these America haters how its going to be.

I'm here to make it abundantly clear that I will never surrender my rights to traitors to our Constitution without the mother of all fights, by any means necessary.

And I am not alone.

If you trolls are expecting us to roll over as you destroy the nation and the Constitution that our ancestors died protecting, you've got a lot bigger battle on your hands than devising a Rovian marketing campaign.

Read my lips, you aristocratic, theocratic assholes: The Constitution of this nation IS NOT IN PLAY. It's not open for debate. If you want to change it, try to amend it as articulated by its own language. Otherwise, respect it...or brace for hell.

I doubt he will ever come to this conclusion. Since the illegal wiretapping issue broke, I've read various letters to the editor in a broad range of different newspapers. I'm constantly shocked when I read someone's letter that says they don't care if anyone spies on them, they have nothing to hide, as long as we're safe from the terrorists.

And if I hear Cheney spew how we could have prevented 9/11 if we had this illegal wiretapping program going back then, I will scream.

This is why we have a representative government, folks. The majority of people in this country are so uninformed and misinformed that I shudder to think what our laws might be if the people did vote directly on every issue.

Posted by ann at January 13, 2006 08:15 AM

ann, I agree with your thoughts, but I'm not really sure the people are uninformed or misinformed---they have access to the facts, but they just can't think properly anymore.

They no longer possess a real understanding of traditional American values, such as respecting constitutional rights and supporting the rule of law.

The people are degenerate, and our democracy cannot be better than its citizens.

And yet Cheney is still out there saying that if they had the illegal wiretapping program before 9/11 - which they did - 9/11 could have been prevented.

I've reached my outrage point now. Make sure everyone you know sees this article. Send it to your congressmen and representatives. Send if to the editors of your local papers. Get it out there.

"It appears that Bush started hs illegal wiretap program before, that's right before 9/11." Gee, you'd think he already knew he was going to get his "Trifecta". We've seen plenty evidence that Bush's regime had already made Iraq invasion plans, surveillance plans and lots of other ideas that the US would not have gone along with....until "everything changed after 9/11". This means he needed 9/11 to get them done. Wait until we find out the real story about why the Bush Administration ignored dozens of direct warnings about the attacks! Simple, they needed it...the question is "did they cause it"?

I don't think they caused it, but I think they let it happen. FDR needed Pearl Harbor, Bush needed 9/11.

The foundation of Conservative Republican belief is that the government cannot be trusted. It has been so since the first days of the John Birch Society in the 1950's.

Government is incompetent, evil, corrupt and filled with waste, fraud and abuse.

Now that they have taken over the government they have proven that their belief is in fact true.

No one should be surprised that the Republican government is incompetent, corrupt and filled with waste fraud and abuse.

Now the choice left to the rest of us is: Do we get rid of government or do we get rid of Republicans?

They always have been degenerate. The Founding Fathers saw them as a rabble of uneducated hicks. The only reason organized religion wasn't outlawed is that they thought it had a moralizing influence on the uneducated. Our Democracy has always been better than it's citizens. That's why those of conscience must protect the Constitution and the rights it affords us. I have family members -as do many of you- who died in every conflict, many before the revolutionary war. I used to feel the need for religion to keep the hicks moral, but now it's just a way to congregate likeminded morons into a voting bloc. So had the dems. That's why I agree with Biden, it's a waste of time to even have the hearings. Put his record out there and call a vote.

Now I believe there is always the need for good dissent. Everyone in power needs to have some checks and balances. Unfortunatley this motley crew with rampant temper tantrums and almost religious fanatacism is not what I consider helpful to those in power.

Try and find a higher ground and speak with sincereity not hatred.
Don't use Kennedy types to talk about morality with Supreme Court nominees. Dont' let Leahy talk about the leaking of information. Don't let people like Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, Sean Penn, Nancy Pelosi or Harry Ried speak at all.

You need to have someone with respect running your party and not idiots like DEAN. Sure it might make you feel good to hear that indictments are being made, impeachment hearings are being talked about, and Bush is going to jail, but its so far from reality, that is stupid and silly.

If you want to lead our country, then start now by setting an example of civility, of competence, of sincereity, and of intelligence. Venon and hatred and vile comments might make you feel good, but you will never win a majority with that.

Oh and dear Coyote boy. You find a way in which all organizations, religious, etc., can be taxed, then I"m all for that. I think that nobody should get a pass from paying taxes. I prefer NO INCOME TAX with a sales tax.
I'd prefer all basic food items, milk, bread, eggs, etc, be completely tax free, but just a flat sales tax on everything else.

I'm tired of the lobbiest in Washington using tax subsidies as some type of social engineering.

I say screw the IRS and lets get back to a try capitalistic society. oops, I said a bad word..."capitalist".

Back to my earlier comment. PLEASE PLEASE GET SOME BALLS, get some civility and become a true opposition party that stands FOR something and NOT AGAINST everything.

She took in people's laundry, cleaned houses and did everything in her power to make certain that her kids could eat.

She instilled in me a value in hard work and knowing that nothing in life is free. She taught me integrity and the value of a dollar. She taught me to speak my mind and tell the truth.

Actually I like Anjha's mother, but of course she is lying, because there is no way that in America, that anyone, including a women, can do anything for herself and her family without some good hearted Democratic Politician making a law that gives her everything she needs...

So how many children did she abort before you slipped by?

Actually, all sardonic wit aside, I admire people of your mother's character and experience. My life is so much easier than my parents, and my parents life is/was so much easier than their parents. I am afraid that with this welfare state and culture of "ME-ME-ME" that those traits of self dependancy might sadly fall by the wayside.

My fondest memories of my life are when I struggled to live, to exist. Back during the Carter years, finding work was tough and making ends meet while trying to go through college and getting married was no piece of cake. But I look back now and I see that although hard times were not in short supply, sometimes they make you stronger and more independent.

My single mom worked to raise my family too. We were eligible for food stamps and public assistance, but my mom refused to accept their money.

My son has a disability. The social security wanted to pay him some type of suppliment, I refused, 8 years later they wanted to write me a check for not having receieved the $300+/- per month for 8 years. I refused. This was long before I became a rich republican lawyer, but I didn't like them doiling out money when it was never asked.

I will say, that my 51 year old brother who lives in a special home (IQ of a 2 year old) is well deserving of his social security and is blessed by the wonderful people that care for his disabilities.

But congrats to your mother for being too proud to beg and too proud to complain and to become a better person for it. I'm sure you are proud of her accomplishments enlight of your comments as well as you should be.

Posted by carpediem at January 13, 2006 02:33 PM

Since Anjha's mother likely didn't spend half her time on the internet as Anjha does, I'd guess that Anjha's life is easier than her mothers was too. In fact, that could be something of a pattern for many people.

T2, of course it was all planned. "It is the New World Order." It as a one-world government headed by US or transnationals, oppressing the public through military means and a restriction on individual freedoms like movement or speech. The New World Order is becoming a reality. There is not one thing any of us can do to stop the progression of those who believe that they have the right to control others. My fear is that very soon we are going to have to make a choice, fight to our death or die under their regime.

Anjha, you go girl!

LAUGH FOR DAY:

"We need an opposition party that keeps the Republicans honest and true." Carp

Oh, so now it is our responsibility to keep you GOPers "honest and true?"

Well, I guess in the realm of no one being responsible except the Democrats, we will have to take on that burden too.

"You need to have someone with respect running your party and not idiots like DEAN."

Oh, you mean like Karen Hughes, or Karl Rove, or Kenny Mehlman, and those who follow the GOP book of building the party on the Lee Atwater principal. Yeah, they sure are respected, aren't they? I wouldn't even mention all the GOPers that are facing prison sentences. Oh, and I forgot your leader Delay and Frist.

"If you want to lead our country, then start now by setting an example of civility, of competence, of sincereity, and of intelligence. Venon and hatred and vile comments might make you feel good, but you will never win a majority with that."

"If you want to lead "our" Country"
(capitol C when naming a specific country). This is not your Country yet, and we are going to fight you every inch of the way to see that it does not become "your" Country.

Part of our problem has been "setting an example of civility, of competence, of sincereity, and of intelligence." That has been our problem in dealing with the likes of you. We should have kicked your collective asses the moment you opened your mouths.

Anjha, are you a chick? I always figured the way you spoke---er typed, that you were a guy, then I saw a post or two which seemed to associate you to a fem gal. Well, you sure to curse like a sailor, so who knows.

Anjha,

It's somtimes difficult to work with the material but I think the comment above was a compliment. It says, "You are smart enough to disquise youself as a guy." What more could a girl ask for?

What more could a girl ask for?

I figured out the answer to my own question, It is, "a guy (or maybe a girl) who can tell the difference."
