Comments: Oh Lay Lay/DeLay Low

Very snarky piece, I enjoyed it. Sure doesn't look good for that bunch of Bush pioneer donaters.

One wonders what they got for all that money they gave monkey.

Were there any get-out of jail free cards?

WASHINGTON, Jan. 21 -- A new television ad that links embattled Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, to corruption is scheduled to air in the Houston area beginning Sunday. The stations' decision to air the spot marks a turning point in the controversy which began when Rep. DeLay threatened to sue media outlets if they aired an earlier ad. The new spot highlights "the ad Tom DeLay doesn't want you to see" and addresses the same facts.

After considerable public pressure and negotiations with the stations, at least two stations, KPRC-NBC and KRIV-FOX in Houston, agreed to begin airing the new spot during Sunday's morning news programs.

hehehe..

You guys had Enron. I'm in a huge gas producing state. We have bills going from $54.00 last year to $220.00 this year (a milder winter to boot). Thank god for neo-cons. Someone is doing well in this economy, but it ain't us.

JHJ- I have dreamed of this moment for so very long.

Delay will look doubly stupid now. That man is done.

Chicago just won a big settlement stemming from Enron dealings and schemes. In the end, it means about $100/customer over the next two years. Not bad for teaching a utility a lesson in not cheating the customers. I'll be looking forward to those credits on my gas bill as well as the Enron trials.

"I will turn off the lights on mine safety". Who at the Dept. of the Interior said that? Anyone know?

Following the disastrous week in the coal mining business, it is very difficult to rationalize the industry, unsafe by its very nature, to any meaningful degree anymore.

The simple, and obscene fact is that men and women 'go down' every day, and may not resurface. And for what? The profiteers who own the mines, minimize safety to maximize profit. What are the lives of a few trogs when money is to be made? The same owner/operators of the mines provide sufficient financial incentive to keep even the occasional honest politician at bay.

That being said, the recent mining deaths, tragic as they are, are simply swamped by the civilian and military losses from a politically and monitarily inspired war, one we will never win or apparently cannot quit. The Intelligent Design idiots have one thing right; we do no learn from past mistakes, are doomed to repeat them, and certainly have not evolved. I hope the ghost of Marley is still walking this Earth to remind us of our common stupidity.
