Bu$hism is like an adult version of Santa Claus. Once you know it's not true, there's no going back.
Now, if we can just keep the cult from destroying the country in the next three years recovery then becomes possible.
the failure to rebound dispite Rove's best efforts and Media cooperation needs to be considered by looking at the last 18 months in Regime Bush. He was down to Kerry for months before the election, indeed his approval rating has been above 50% for only one day, November 2, 2005, in over a year. He was defeated by Gore in 2000. So really, the general public has never liked the guy, and in the last year, he has steadily declined as he has presided over one failed policy after another. His rock bottom is likely about 35-36%, and he's been quite close to that in recent months......rebound.....I don't think so. This guy is a loser and a liar and no amount of the felon Rove's spin is ever going to bring him back to 50%. We'll soon be treated to another State of the Lie fest, followed quickly by the 3rd anniversary of our Cakewalk in Iraq, and god knows how many revelations of criminality and pure subversiveness. He's toast.......unfortunately, we may be also.
Posted by T2 at January 30, 2006 11:39 AMBut what the hell is going on with Rasmussen? He now has bu$h at 50% approval, and has had him climbing about a point a day for the last several days. I know he's a rethug-leaning pollster and he's typically got bu$h somewhat above the nationally-recognized polls, but 50%? Things just keep getiting curiouser and curiouser!
Posted by redstater at January 30, 2006 11:47 AMAn interesting opinion piece on Bush from Sunday's Tribune:
Pledges and lofty notions of long ago
60 percent said he had not met his promise to "restore honor and integrity" in the White House
Posted by ann at January 30, 2006 11:51 AMJesus it is depressing that so many Americans are still so goddamned fucking stupid as to think the idiot is doing a good job. What the fuck is it that they see that the rest of us are missing?
Posted by Vinnie at January 30, 2006 11:55 AM60 percent said he had not met his promise to "restore honor and integrity" in the White House
Another fucking nail for Dems to hammer in both 2006 and 2008.
Posted by idiosynchronic at January 30, 2006 12:10 PMRedstater,
Rasmussen was off by 50% in the 2005 elections. The winning margins for kilgore and corzine were twice what ras predicted. He's wrong more than he's right.
From the language, it looks like there is no monopoly on "stupid"
Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 12:35 PMThe way to singe into the public consciousness that Bush is a failed, incompetent, malignant fool is to tell him, loud and clear from the Senate floor, that no, asshole, you can't have your fucking enabler on our Supreme Court. Try again, motherfucker!

Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 12:37 PMRumor is that Bush is going to make Energy Independence a top priority during his speech. (Just check out the alternative energy stocks today. Boo-yah!)
I think it's about time. We should've done this 30 years ago. But better late than never. Time to quit sending money to those Trolls in the Middle East.
Don't buy fuel from a Troll!

Another promise I'm sure he'll reneg on.
It would be nice were it true, but I'm just about 100% positive that coming from Rove, it will be a cynical ploy.
Posted by God Of War at January 30, 2006 12:46 PMNo just cute What other words do you know?
Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 12:49 PMRumor is that Bush is going to make Energy Independence a top priority during his speech.
And you'd trust a failed oilman to be in charge of energy independence programs? Can you imagine the crony hires he'd come up with for that?
Btw, Bush is going to throw out some tax credits for hybrids and some other corporate welfare handouts. Nothing major, no call for conservation or higher CAFE standards, nothing that will actually have an impact. But it's safer than letting him toy with health insurance, he can't screw up as much with just handing out tax credits.
Posted by ann at January 30, 2006 12:49 PMDon't you love how trolls get so offended when they see the f-word? Horrors!
Posted by ann at January 30, 2006 12:50 PMRumor is that Bush is going to make Energy Independence a top priority during his speech.
It's what he makes a priority after his speeches that's the problem.
Posted by snark at January 30, 2006 12:52 PM
The gist of Harry Reid's speech today on the Senate floor was...whatever bu$h says means the opposite! He cannot be more right!
Posted by bbtb at January 30, 2006 12:58 PMOffended? No. Disappointed? Yes. You see, I am an HHH Democrat, early 1960's, more than likely 40 years older than you folks and votes to the middle , you know, the percentage that actually elects somebody. This web page was listed in one of Minnesota's newspapers so I thought I would look at it. Probably a lot of people have looked at it, more than likely just for curiosity, to see what some think. Bottom line is this-do you really believe you can influence people and win votes with drivel like this? Clean it up and actually act like we could be in position to lead, beacause trust me folks, this won't do it.

And yet, when their beloved alleged President f-words America, including them, the protest with nary a whimper.
Posted by at January 30, 2006 01:03 PMyou're gonna have to deal with it Hank...your people have got nothing done in the last 5 years and I daresay alot longer than that.
You can have Holy Joe and Evan Bayh and John Breaux and all the yellow dog dems with their tails between their legs...you are part of the reason we are in this mess and your running to the center every time things get dicey is pure cowardice.
Posted by John B. at January 30, 2006 01:08 PMHank, Didn't you post here before? I remember a retired military guy, posting by Hank...is that you?
Posted by bbtb at January 30, 2006 01:17 PMDeal with it? Do I sound like the bitter one? Who is dealing with what? And when we lose another one, and we will, what will you do, who will you blame, and then will you step up to another level of nasty after seeing how well this level has worked. It all comes down to winning elections and this is not the way to do it.
Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 01:18 PMHank, do you have anything of substance to add to the discussion of Bush's approval ratings or are you simply here to disrupt the thread with your faux outrage of the use of the f-word in some of the comments?
Methinks avaroo has morphed into Hank.
Posted by ann at January 30, 2006 01:20 PMI'd just like to add that my folks are in their 80's and they think bu$h is the biggest crook ever. They have never seen a pResident who cannot enunciate words or is as slow witted as bu$h. They are loyal "Kennedy" (camelot days) democrats.
Posted by bbtb at January 30, 2006 01:23 PMBitter Hank? How would you know? because I say deal with it? Pissed of is more like it and your argument for why I shouldn't be pissed off is exactly what? Bush and Rove and Cheney and rusfeld are gonna play nicer next time? Besides, I'm not so convinced that the Dems, and if you are a Dem that means you and me, didn't win the last 2 elections. Granted they were both close.
But I think history will bear out the fact that now is the time for some anger and what is happening to our country, our electoral representative democracy and our values, freedoms and families is only going to be changed by some outraged folks pinning thier ears back and getting to work electing people that will stand up for what they believe and will fight tooth and nail against the forces of greed, militarism and evil.
Yes. If we learn how to win elections, our approval rating do not mean as much, do they?
bbtb-good example of what I mean.
Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 01:27 PMJust asking, but can we go back to not feeding the trolls? It was nice for awhile.
Posted by idiosynchronic at January 30, 2006 01:28 PMSo, Hank (avaroo,) are you saying that by commentors on The Left Coaster not using the f-word, the Dems will somehow win and Bush's approval ratings won't matter?
Posted by ann at January 30, 2006 01:30 PMHello, gang, "Hank" has made his meaningless nonsense point ("Polls don't matter"). Ignore the trolls.
There's nothing else to say to someone who thinks the citizens' views are irrelevant in a democratic government.
Posted by euzoius at January 30, 2006 01:38 PMAnn
Don't know "avaroo" and don't care. Mpls Star Tribune yesterday, anything before that unknown-I am talking about winning elections, F word or No F word, and bitterness and anger or "pissed off"as one refered to it, fine feel that way if you want-be beware that the main body of voters will NOT respond positively to it beause it is constant apparently in this type of web page and some publications An opportunity has been delivered, what wil;l we do with it?
Posted by Hank at January 30, 2006 01:40 PMif you, i mean we members of the democrat party don't pay more attention to joe lieberman and bob shrum, you, i mean we will keep losing elections instead of the long string of victories the DLC will give you, i mean us, any day now.

Same 2000 statements on energy redux?
Great! Those statements led to $3.00 a gallon gas and the highest cost for Natural Gas ever. I don't know if I can stand another new Busch energy policy.
You think his energy plan will include Chavez supporting poor Americans energy costs in America?

The credulous also have short memories.
Posted by shargash at January 30, 2006 04:04 PMThey are picking up all od the Dem's talking points!
You bet. Thank God Al Qaeda wants assurances that Diebold doesn't rig the vote. And how about the way they dispute the Supremes and 2000? Oh yeah, and the way they support funding for education. I too seem to remember their call for reform of lobbys, and again for universal healthcare. Hey, how about the way they said Medicare prescription drug reform was a crock? That was a good one. Shit, and they were frontline when the admin completely fucked-up relief for Katrina victims. And who can forget how Al Qaeda bitches and whines about the troop deaths in Iraq, and how the admin fails to supply them properly causing even more deaths?
Yep, indeed. Al Qaeda took all of our most memorable talking points.
But they do take the biggest of your talking points:
Faith! Death! Misery!
Yes. They took your big one!
Posted by phidipides at January 30, 2006 04:26 PMRumor is that Bush is going to make Energy Independence a top priority…...Posted by muckdogThat would be a strange rumor about this oilmen administration. The first attempts of alternative energy was begun by Jimmy Carter and ended by Ronald Reagan. Aside from making some platitudes about hydrogen fuel, this administration has not nothing at all to promote alternative energy sources.
this-do you really believe you can influence people and win votes with drivel like this? Posted by HankWhat is politically successful in this time are the vitriolic spew from LFG, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, and the rest of the right wing. A real HHH Democrat would fight, not whimper.
Remember the book by Evelyn Waugh, Put Out More Flags ? Appeal to fear, patriotism and more fear, while the media whores who control public discourse will swoon in ecstasy over his "Churchillian" speech.
