TIME is reporting that members of both parties in Congress are considering a constitutional amendment to rein in Dubya's war powers.

Posted by Edward Copeland at February 6, 2006 02:56 AMThat will get about as far as a Democrat in Diebold Ohio!
Posted by pessimist at February 6, 2006 03:28 AM"constitutional amendment to rein in Dubya's war powers."
Yeah, right.
An amendment.
The fuckers won't contemplate impeachment, but they'll consider a fucking constitutional amendment? And just What will it say? "Shutting out Congress in the buisness of executing the laws of the United States is bad? Bad president! Bad!"
I smell some fucking neo-con plot with a football and sly words telling us this time they won't yank the ball away.
Posted by idiosynchronic at February 6, 2006 07:53 AMBoy, those officials are getting ripped for yesterday's Super Bowl. Rightly so. The officiating might've cost the Seahawks the game, although Jeremy Stevens dropping passes might've done them in, too.
With the season over, rumors are that Shaun Alexander wants $80 million in his next contract. Hahahahahhaahh.
Posted by muckdog at February 6, 2006 09:52 AMOh, one more thing on Mick Jagger...
He left out the word "cum" in Start Me Up.
He left out the word "cocks" in the new Bigger Bang song in the middle of the set (whatever it's called).
And initially, he left out the words "girly action" in Satisfaction. But must've forgot the rules later in the song when he did say it.
Posted by muckdog at February 6, 2006 09:55 AMmuck, The words were bleeped out. 7 second delay, discretion of the network.
Posted by bbtb at February 6, 2006 11:11 AMI had to change the channel at halftime, it was so bad it was embarrassing. Never liked the stones much anyhow, so it wasn't a hardship. Never liked the halftime show much either, what do over the hill pop stars have to do with football, anyhow?
Posted by iamcoyote at February 6, 2006 11:25 AMThey should have gone with Green Day.
Posted by God Of War at February 6, 2006 11:42 AMAd purchasers would have never gone for Green Day! The networks haven't come that far yet. I found it ironic for an 'All American Tradition' they put the Stones out there. It's like having them celebrating the 4th of July for us.
Posted by bbtb at February 6, 2006 11:56 AMI thought it was rather telling that the Stones didn't perform Sweet Neo Con.
Posted by ann at February 6, 2006 12:07 PMAnyone surprised that muckdog assumed Mick changed his lyrics rather than assuming that the corporate media prudes bleeped him?
Just keep telling yourself;
CORPORATIONS CAN DO NO WRONG.
CORPORATIONS CAN DO NO WRONG.
CORPORATIONS CAN DO NO WRONG.......

You forgot the part about clicking the heels of your Ruby slippers together.
Posted by phidipides at February 6, 2006 01:00 PMI should've watched the Lingerie Bowl instead. It was probably better officiated and had more exciting moments.
The only thing worse than the Rolling Stones was the national anthem. What the heck was that? Good lord.
Posted by muckdog at February 6, 2006 02:10 PMThe national anthem was just plain awful...
As to Mick Jagger's "words". Heck, I can't even understand the words that aren't offensive.
Then again, I was never a Stones fan, and sitting their watching these geriatrics dance around on the stage didn't make me a fan either.
Posted by Carpediem at February 6, 2006 02:23 PMA couple of them were from New Orleans. Maybe it was tribute to a once great city, singing the national anthem of a once great nation.
Posted by bbtb at February 6, 2006 07:16 PMTypical liberalism...America "once was great".
I wish that you and all others that feel this way might move to somewhere more in your liking, like Cuba or North Korea, or better yet France.
