heh. Wonder if this had to do with upcoming elections?
Posted by Jolly Sapper at February 8, 2006 10:35 AMCall me a cynic but I think Jolly has it right.
If not an election year and GOP numbers weren't so bad, this regulatory changed doesn't happen.
Posted by Simp at February 8, 2006 10:40 AMIsn't that just great! Kill a few miners with a cancelled breather regulation so that reinstating it can be claimed as correcting a serious industry safety oversight!
I hope Chao's hell involves eternal suffocation in the dark!
Posted by pessimist at February 8, 2006 10:56 AMIt's all Clinton's fault!
Posted by bbtb at February 8, 2006 11:23 AMYes a few innocents may have died.
But the bigger picture is that so so many miners were put on the pathway to freedom by the actions of the Bush administration. Freedom from combersome safety equipment and freedom from the drudgery of mandatory training sessions!
God bless George Bush!
(Oh yeah, and I also heard that with the funds that the mine owners saved by not having to provide the safety equipment, which mostly just sat around and did nothing anyway, they were able to build new executive washrooms. The old executive facility was opened up for use by the miners! Who says trickle down economics doesn't work!)
Posted by snark at February 8, 2006 12:36 PMSnark- don't you mean "tinkle down economics"?
Posted by Trieatalot at February 8, 2006 02:03 PM"tinkle down economics"
LOL!
Posted by snark at February 8, 2006 02:16 PMKentucky is a major coal mining state supplying some ten per cent of the nation's coal mostly via the latest scrape the mountain top off into the valley techniques.

Unholy Trinity: Katrina, Allbaugh and Brown:
A RealNews investigation, encompassing scores of interviews and hundreds of documents, has unearthed a stunning back story that shines a bright light on the mysterious Bush-Allbaugh-Brown relationship.
Wouldn't it also make sense to stock those same coal mines with food/rations and water?

White House Gives Details on Surveillance
Does Wilson have something on BushCo? After Rove's threat of cutting any Reps off who didn't toe the line, this appears very, very suspect to me.

White House Gives Details on Surveillance
Posted by ann at February 8, 2006 05:34 PMBuckle up folks-it is going to get a tad bit upsetting ( and a little embarassing) for some in the near future. The NSA issue that you have been counting on is begining to melt.
Posted by jj at February 8, 2006 06:27 PMOh, "it is going to get a tad upsetting" because the White House is going to ask Congress for the approval to declare what bu$h is doing legal?
Please, tell us something that we didn't know was going to happen!
bu$h breaks the fucking law, then has the republi-Con Congress make it a law to protect his ass!
It was like we said it was going to happen, he would just get approval to pre-date all his illegal wiretaps!
Now in the interest of domestic tranquility we can move on because it's okie-dokie!!
You know what asswipe, it's not OK and never will be!
When there is a Democratic Congress he will rue the day he ever cut his deals!
Buckle up folks-it is going to get a tad bit upsetting ( and a little embarassing) for some in the near future. The NSA issue that you have been counting on is begining to melt.

Actually, fuckwad, you goons are the fools who are claiming that you're going to make political hay from this, and it appears now that you're captitulating.
After that performance by Alberto, capitulation would be wise.

"After back-to-back mining accidents in West Virginia that killed 14 men last month, the Bush administration is reviving a rule that would require the added supplies of the masks and the training to use them."
Yeah, sure, right.
Scroll pass the trolls.
