Comments: House And Senate Republicans Want More Oversight Of Bush White House On NSA Issue

Lameduck flu has broken out in the congress?

Posted by TIKI AL at February 11, 2006 01:50 AM

I don't know how this will change anything.
Seems like the American public is about even in support of the NSA wiretappings. It proves that bu$h doesn't need a warrant. It really blows my mind how people can be so blind. As always an apathetic public due to the support of a complicit media.
If it suits the will of the people then it must be OK, whether it's illegal or not. These are the numbers that congress will look at.

Remember, only the 49%ers that are truly against it.

bbtb, I think the reason the poll numbers are high for people saying they are okay is because of the questions they are asked (Do you approve of the President wiretapping a terrorist without a warrant?) and the fact that no one knows who they're really spying on. All it will take is one instance of the illegal wiretapping effecting someone on their side and the whole thing will explode. And BushCo. isn't really efficient with this whole "running the government" thingy, they're better with the dirty politics.

You left out this part, all in exchange for dropping any further nosing around into whether any laws were broken or any innocent person's civil rights were violated during the program(s).

You know what? The whining cur Dems in Congress will rollover, piss themselves and do it too.

Here's a great diary exploring other programs like TIA, etc. If you want to get some nice links and a good rundown of all the other spying programs already in place, soj ties it all together. Your life is so not secret, it's probably easier to count the things the gov't doesn't know about you than to ponder how much it actually does.

If you're going to run a shadow government, and channel parts of it through Justice, you really need an Attorney General who's good at national security and separation of powers; a guy who's just a loyal pretzel buddy, like Abu, just won't cut it.

It's one thing to staff up departments you don't care about—like, say, FEMA—who can't do their jobs properly. But you need a real badass AG if you plan to work a bunch of illegal domestic programs in the post-Watergate legal environment. If Bush were a smarter man, he would know that.

ann, That's why I say a complicit media, those are some silly ass questions.

Great link coyote!

dj, there's every indication they thought they were doing that, but from this angle it looks like a lame attempt at best. Harriet Miers, for goodness sake?

Thanks, bbtb, you were up early, weren't you?

Interesting that the interest is growing amongst Congressmembers despite the briefing given this week directly to Congress.

Frankly, I don't care what they know about me.
