Erm, okay, I'll bite.
Mary Lou who?
[Say, wasn't there a Mary Lou Who of Whoville? One of those excessively happy people that softened the Grinch's heart?]
[Sorry, that's my Puritan heritage (I'm a Congregationalist, which descends from Puritanism) and y'all know what they say about Puritans: "A Puritan is someone with a lurking suspicion that someone, somewhere is happy".]

I know this isn't really a political comment, but anyone watching the Olympics at all? I have always been a junkie of them, growing up in a family of sport-Olympic junkies with my mom leading the way and setting the example for all of us. Hoping to pass that legacy onto my own children as we sat around the woodstove watching the speed skating, nordic combined, luge, moguls, women's hockey and my absolute favorite, pairs figure skating. History was made last nite in as the US pairs were the first to successfully complete a throw triple axel in Olympic competition! But those dominant Russian teams are just phenomenal and are my favorites here with their speed, eloquence, athleticism, stamina, crispness, artistry, and theatrical abilities...the total package. They are in a league/class of their own. Although I am amazed at the Chinese skater who is 6 months status post ruptured achilles out there...that's amazing in itself.

Anyway, it's a blizzard here today, time to tend to the woodstove and shovel a small path out through a drift for the beloved animals and yes kids heading out for a day of their own olympics, snowboarding, skiing, and luging a nearby hill.

Man, Press the Meat was awsome this morning. Timmeh actually ambushed Roberts and had the old geezer spitting and shaking his head. Daschle sounded like he had been reading Soto himself. Hit all the high points, destroyed Roberts and his republican lacky's pre-prepared talking points.

The official dem party line seems to be we need to spy on terrorists, but it is not effective when done extra-legaly. The tide is turning on this, and the Bush personality cult is starting to surface.

By now, the sheep now see the wolves clearly.

The only question is now how many sheep still think the wolves are their friend?

I think we all know how those sheep will fare.

A couple days ago I saw someone refer to the mainstream media as M$M. And here's a Stirling Newberry opinion about the WaPo guy whining about the blogs.

Angry is the New Shrill:
Jim Brady Joins the circled wagons

On another note, here's news you won't see in the US of course. British soldiers beat up Iraqi teens.

Brooks just ragged on Daily Kos on Mathews joint. Thanks for another million hits Bo-Bo.

Howard Dean just bitch-slapped Cheney. Schiffier and the MSM drone were staring in wide-eye terror at such unvarnished truth.

They are reading the blogs people. Open source democracy works, and it is like garlic to the vampires.

... anyone watching the Olympics at all?

I won't watch at all. It isn't that I don't like sports, either. It's that somehow the nations that spawn these athletes deserves the credit far more than the athlete does, which I think is a load of crap. If they want to honor the athletes, that is appropriate, but to present this as some kind of a nationalist achievement goes against my grain.

Posted by pessimist at February 12, 2006 09:27 AM

I see your point pess, but I disregard the medal counts bs and really just look to the athleticism of it all. I try to instill that into my kids too and really could give a crap what country wins the top medal or has more medals bs. Too me I make it all about the athlete and often times it's nice to finally see the less traditional US sports that are hyped all the time here not in them. I mean how often do you witness non- traditional typically less popular US sports like luge, speedskating, short track speedskating, bobsledding, cross country skiing, skijumping, and women's hockey on the idiot box as say compared to football, baseball, men's hockey, golf, and nascar racing that often dominate the airwaves in the States?

On march 20, 2006, Iran will sell its oil in euros instead of dollars. Some people believe that a US war with iran will start before this event occurs. Anyone have interesting analysis of this theory. Only have to wait a month to find out if true or false.

... anyone watching the Olympics at all?

I stopped when amateur athletes stopped being the focal point of the Olympics. There is only so much corporate whoredom I can stand at any one time in my life.

I watched it. I agree, it will get no time on TV in the U.S.S.A. since it's off message. As Darth Cheney opined at CPAC, you are probably a doubting Thomas for even bringing it up in light of the great strides made in bringing democracy to the ragheads.

Cheney shoots hunting buddy!

He must of made a comment about the wiretapping, or maybe Plame/Libby, or torture cells or his daughter, or Iraq, or Halliburton or.....

Posted by bbtb at February 12, 2006 02:26 PM

isn't it about time we remove the crazed Cheney from the presidenc...er...vice-presidency? I mean..lying to us on Energy, on Iraq, on9/11, on Plamegate......and now attempted murder?...Have we had enough?

The worlitzer must be broke, because I just saw this clip on the 5:30 ABC news follies.

Posted by at February 12, 2006 03:52 PM

...it was shown as a distraction from the fact that Dick Cheney's a bad shot.

The worlitzer must be broke,

You should have seen 60 minutes! The Worlitzer was non-existant.
