we must stop saying things like, "if janet reno..."
or
"if al gore had shot..."
or "if this had happened under clinton..."

the ground rules have changed.
they changed 'em.
it doesn't mean we have to accept that change as permanent, but posing those "if"s is not a real effective way of beginning the process. it's tiresome. and it's lame.
