Most of the women I have met who are the most active in stopping the insanity of the war machine are Grandmothers. Some have lived through the holocaust and see our government going towards fascism, many have lost loved ones in Vietnam, or in the Korean war and have led simple lives deeply touched by war. Their message is quite simple; save the next generation. Their wisdom, compassion, and zest for life is an amazing thing to behold.

FORTY? Fucking FORTY!!! I don't feel so old now. And when I heard some chicky on campus say she was thinking of joining the army, with her dad's encouragement, SINCE IT WOULD PAY FOR GRAD SCHOOL, I told her there's a lot of fine print, officer or no officer position, and she might never get out to GO to grad school. And yeah, I felt old that day.

"Save the next generation...." I have news for you. You don't save any lives by being pacifists. Your Grandmother would have been speaking German if it weren't for the brave American war effort in WW II.

I can think of a good spot for Stats in the armed forces...drawing sniper fire in Bagdhad. Yeah, he wouldn't last long, but it might save the life of a worthy human being, and it really wouldn't be much of a loss to mankind.

I'm guessing Stats would have found some way -any way- to opt out during WWII as well.
