Looks like the "Joementum" might have encountered an equal or greater opposing force.
Posted by snark at February 17, 2006 12:18 PMIt would be a great day for me (and the country) to see Lieberman fall in a primary. He's never been a real Democrat -- William F. Buckley recruited him to run against the liberal Republican Lowell Weicker in the first place for crying out loud. Give Connecticut's recent trends, I'm sure Lamont could win the general election, so I don't think the Democrats should fear losing the seat. Censorin' Joe has got to go.
Posted by Edward Copeland at February 17, 2006 12:24 PMTaking out Joementum and the traitor Ceullar in TX-28 would be a triumph of the netroots.
I would love to see the DLCers attempt to triangulate that!
LOL
Posted by SnarkyShark at February 17, 2006 12:29 PMI have contributed money to both Ciro and Lamont. It's time to ditch the right wing Democrats and replace them with real Democrats.
Posted by Monica at February 17, 2006 12:41 PMJoementum knows Democrats aren't happy with his fellating George Bush on the Iraq war and the mindless military spending at the expense of all else.
Lamont is a serious and viable challenger to Joementum's reelection in November.
Of course, Lamont doesn't have the money Joementum has or the dozens of wealthy Republican lobbyists and other conservatives who have a vested interest in seeing Joementum return to the US Senate.
Then there's the matter of the long rumored cabinet position in the Bush administration. Some say it may be Secretary of Defense, as lunatic neocon Rummy the Dummy wants out to pursue lobbying.
Posted by Christopher at February 17, 2006 01:31 PMI gave to both candidates last night. IF they fight, they get my support. If the don't, they won't.
Doesn't mean I'm giving up, at all, just that I can do better things with my money then the Party can at this time.
And Steve is right, that's what the Dems are going to do, and I add, it ain't gonna work.
Posted by Duckman GR at February 17, 2006 02:04 PMWill ~The Party~ ask Ned to stand down?
Posted by yesyesyes at February 17, 2006 02:04 PMWell, I do suppose that it was only a matter of time before the lunatic left began to purge the Democratic Party of those individuals (Lieberman) who still retain some idea of reality.
The process of destroying a once great party, the party of Harry Truman and JFK, continues apace.
Posted by Bagley at February 17, 2006 04:13 PMFunny, I'm not even a part of the lunatic left Bagley. I'm an Independant who votes for the Democrats out of pure necessity.
The continous lunatic left phrase is getting mighty old. I suppose George Will, Paul Roberts and any other conservative who has problems with Bush is part of the lunatic left fringe too?
Posted by Monica at February 17, 2006 04:36 PM"Funny, I'm not even a part of the lunatic left Bagley."
Well, good for you!
"I'm an Independant who votes for the Democrats out of pure necessity."
Would not that mean that you align most often (always?) with the Democratic Party. Why not give up the pretense of being "Independent."
"The continous lunatic left phrase is getting mighty old."
An apt description, however.
"I suppose George Will, Paul Roberts and any other conservative who has problems with Bush is part of the lunatic left fringe too?"
Not at all. I disagree with President Bushon awhole host of issues. The fact is that there is far more tolerance for disagreement in the conservative movement than is tolerated by the left. Consider that the nature of the original post by Steve Soto concerns challenges to Joe Lieberman because he is not sufficiently critical of President Bush on any and all issues. (So much for tolerating dissenting voices among the "lunatic left.")
Posted by Bagley at February 17, 2006 04:53 PMMonica,
Anybody who's not a member of the Cult of Bush is the "lunatic fringe" to thse whack jobs.
Lieberman sent out a campaign letter today stating that he is "fighting Bush all the way" and will "stand up to the extremist agenda of the Bush administration."
So, I guess that Lieberman can now be considered part of the lunatic left. Anybody who doesn't stand up to the Elmer Fudd twins is stupid anyhow. They are politically toxic.
Posted by Ga6thDem at February 17, 2006 04:56 PM"Hackett was infuriated by the subterfuge. “I felt like I got fucked by the Democratic Party because they enticed me in and then they pulled the rug out from beneath me. It sounds eerily familiar to sending in the military to Iraq, which was a misuse of the military, and then not giving them what they need to fight.”" From motherjones.com
Thanks Democrats for this present!
Posted by peter at February 17, 2006 06:02 PMBagley,
I actually appreciate a true conservative, I respect them. I remember what a true conservative used to stand up for. Small government, get the government off my back, freedom from the government. I see nothing here in this government as being truly conservative. Huge deficits, the Terri Shiavo fiasco, nation building, corruption of our highest levels of goverment.
In the past where the Democrats got totally out of control, I supported the conservatives. We have an old saying, when a government goes haywire, throw the bums out. That is what I am voting for, and supporting with my dollars. Whether they are Democrats or Republicans, it doesn't really matter if they prop up the extremists, as they currently do. Moderates and conservatives reject extremism, in any party.
Posted by Monica at February 17, 2006 06:22 PMpeter,
Touche. Hackett is a fighting reformer, not a politican and the politicans did him wrong.
I hope we haven't heard the last of him.
Posted by rlp at February 17, 2006 09:40 PMSen. Joe doesn't belong in the senate with the other democrats. He is much too fair and has good common sense. He HAS to go. He should be sent to "reeducation camp" ( the type 400,000 South Vietnamese were sent after we walked away from Kennedy and Johnson's war...no naked pig piles there...no-one called a "poopy-head" but real torture as the North Vietnamese practiced )and taught that the United States must NEVER be involved in any type of war...even if this nation is attcked. It is just not worth fighting for. That's the new Democrat Mantra.
Poor Sen. Joe was foolish enough to believe that the United States was worth defending. We all know how outdated that concept is.
yeah, joe read a lot about viet nam
Posted by at February 18, 2006 07:05 AMLieberman has got to be defeated because he values nothing the Democratic Party stand for. You Right-wingers think he is so great, then take him, he's yours.
Posted by Judith at February 18, 2006 07:28 AMGore turned his back on Clinton in favor of the first "democrat" to keep the impeachment alive on the Senate floor. Then "his own maness" went out and took credit for everything Clinton did, enfuriating the faithful.
Still listening to Donna, Al? How could the silver spoon son of a Senator be so stupid?
Thanks for the one-way ticket to bushcohell.
PS. You gave a great speech the other day, but too late.
