Comments: Is Bush About To Lose His Iraq Bet?

Don't get your hopes up Stevie-boy. It's obvious that it's just a strategem employed by your favorite fiddle players in their ongoing campaign to try to ignite an internecine conflict.

This too will fail, your useful idiot cheerleading not withstanding

The destruction of this precious, ancient shrine will be viewed as another great "benefit" of feckless, paralyzed Bushco democracy. The blame will be pinned on the occupation, as is already happening.

This will be the bomb that broke the camel's back, the absurd boobery of dipshit notwithstanding.

From the screeds of the right and from Cole, I think the Civil War just got touched off from a slow burn to a crackling fire.

The civil war in Iraq, you know, the 18 month old civil war in Iraq. The civil war that has been ongoing, as civil wars will often do. The civil war that the rest of world recognizes and talks about, may finally be recognized as a civil war by our civilian idiots. Of course, a civil war makes it to where we can't possibly leave.

No doubt we will see troop levels increasing soon. Why? Mission Accomplished! Like Vietnam and their civil war. Mission fucking Accomplished.

sez dipshit: It's obvious that [blowing up a Shiite mosque]'s just a strategem employed by your favorite fiddle players in their ongoing campaign to try to ignite an internecine conflict.

Yes, just a stratagem. Doubtless all of the Shiites whom this "stratagem" attempted to incite will see right through it, and forego the temptation to engage in retaliatory violence. That would certainly be in keeping with how things have been going so far.

This clusterfuck will make Pandora's box look like a party.

In response to the bombing of the al-Askariya shrine in Samarra, President Bush issued an eloquent statement:

I ask all Iraqis to exercise restraint in the wake of this tragedy and to pursue justice in accordance with the laws and constitution of Iraq. Violence will only contribute to what the terrorists sought to achieve by this act.
Is it inconceivable that while addressing his fellow Americans after September 11, 2001, Bush could have expressed a similar sentiment? (more...)
