We don't need no stinking more war.

Posted by ann at February 22, 2006 03:48 PMSo, is this kinda like blackmail? Give us the contract or else. My favorite part of this Port scandal is that George would have us believe that he just found out about it. Really?
Posted by Judith at February 22, 2006 04:06 PMNot to worry kids. Global warming will take care of everything.
Posted by angryspittle at February 22, 2006 04:16 PMI thought everyone knew that the largest military facility ever contructed, anywhere, was being buiit in the UAE by the United States. Where was this missed?
Posted by phidipides at February 22, 2006 04:43 PMI've known two people who have worked in customs. One worked at Kennedy airport and the other in the Los Angeles/Long Beach harbor area. Both said there was a lot of stuff they weren't allowed to touch; stuff going out and stuff coming in. Currently, only a small percentage of our cargo containers are checked. Let's not forget that this loose system is what has made it possible for companies to send out equipment they weren't supposed to send to such places as Iraq which was under sanctions during the 1990s.
The Dubai deal needs to be nixed and the whole system of how we handle our ports needs to be reviewed and tightened.
Bush uses terrorism as a political tool but there are real weaknesses in our defenses that Bush and his Republicans friends neglect.
Posted by Craig at February 22, 2006 05:47 PMWell, it's about time--we haven't had a new war in almost four years. Let's face it, reruns of Iraq are getting a little monotonous.
Posted by dj moonbat at February 22, 2006 06:01 PMWell, now you know why I still think the Selection was a more traumatic even for our country than 9/11, and why we still need to focus on stopping the Diebold project.
