Comments: The Silver Bullet To Bush’s National Security Advantage

Instead of playing that game with security, let's actually argue on the merits. Maybe we can save some lives.

Seriously, are we in the left so warped that even national security is about beating Karl Rove?

George W. Bush: Worst. President. Ever.

Heck, the Dems get the national security issue far better than the Reps who have constantly voted against increased port security and chemical and nuclear safety from terrorist threats. To the Reps it's all about the almighty buck, not the safety of the "homeland" or the people.

Obama gets it

The best thing to come of this port issue is that the Reps will finally be forced to understand that when you vote against spending for national security and claim that you're strong on defense, the public isn't going to buy into it.

Should the Dubai deal go through? Will it make us less safe? I don't know, because we aren't safe to begin with.

Bush's only national security advantage is that the majority of red state voters don't have a clue about anything that happens outside the block they live on. They are incredibly xenophobic and clueless when it comes to matters that don't affect them personally and this very minute.

Stock markets are much more of an attraction than say, a tsunami wiping out hundreds of thousands, or an increasingly inevitable civil war in Iraq. What do they care? As long as they can afford to fill up the SUV, and buy a 50" television, they could care less what goes on in the rest of the world, or even the rest of their country. It is the old "this is my castle" syndrome, taken to extremes.

Well, maybe now that we've finally gotten beyond the Rovespin of how the Reps will keep us safer, we can. It was never about "beating" Rove, this is our government, not a spectator sport. It was about cutting through the spin so that people stopped listening to the "GOP can keep us safer" tag lines and could actually see that the Reps have done nothing to make us safer, and in fact have consistently voted against prudent measures that would make us safer.

United Arab Emirates Donated At Least $1M To Bush Library

I'm just about ready to hurl.

What Schadenfreud y'all exibiting. Well it keeps you busy.

What a pre-9/11 mentality.

Nearly six year into Little Boots 2nd administration and the Bush loyalists just can't ween themselves off former President Clinton.

It's like a pandemic of chronic Clintonitis.

The trolls need a twelve step program. Bill Clinton gave the Republicans a nervous breakdown. Haven't you noticed what crazy Bush apologists the Republican party has become? LOL!

Posted by Ga6thDem at February 24, 2006 12:55 PM

here's a cheery thought for the trolls to take to the weekend...soon we'll see the 2300th GI Death in Bush's War..you remember the War President, right. Bin Laden killed 2700
on 9/11. I wonder if Bush will pass Osama before he's gone?

Originally, the American people and the U.S. Congress was told the UAE port takeover included 6 ports.

What a difference 72 hours makes.

Now we learn the UAE port takeover includes 21 ports.

The deal must be stopped in its tracks.

Just now offered delay of "control'" transfer reportedly won't affect the money and liability transfer dates, so is irrelevant to the real purpose. The key isn't who's buying (whoever it ends up being is screwed) but who's selling, i.e. the soon-to-be-former owners of The Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company.

The fact is, whoever ends up holding those port contracts will own dead wet potatoes in our 6 ports and London very soon.

Google the 9/23/04 Nature piece "Glaciers Are Flowing Faster". You can also google Science 9/24/06 "A Bit of Icy Antarctica is Sliding Toward the Sea" and the Independent/UK 2/2/05 "Dramatic Change in West Antarctic Ice Could Produce 16ft rise in sea level".

Boston Globe 2/17/06 had "Greenland Glacial Pace on the Rise, Study Finds". Lots of potential sliding, south and north. Melting is not the worry, except inasmuch as it facilitates sliding (and coincidentally kills Gulf Stream and alters rest of thermohaline system, and thus economies and crops.)

Perhaps also google:

tesla earthquake

Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company rothschild

Remember that CSX sold its port operations (outside US) to Dubai, after John Snow became Treasury Secretary. Treasury Secretaries know stuff. See former Treasury Secretary Summers leaving coastal Harvard. Only financiers know the value of money.

For really scary stuff, google: denver airport

But however precipitated, ice on land below sea level will slide, and the end of the Antarctic summer is very stormy (See weather underground for current temps West Antarctica) and Greenland's ice (above sea level at least) holds potential in the northern summer.

So as usual, the left is pinning its hopes on opinion based upon misconceptions? Most of the people polled dont have any idea that the rights are already foreign-held.

Another teapot tempest.

Bush has been taking advantage of your stupidity for years now, MA; it's our turn now.

Posted by iamcoyote at February 24, 2006 03:22 PM

I really don't care what the public thinks of Bush - I already know he's an idiot.

What I care about is what the public thinks about my Republican representative. This is all about pork-loving, earmark-hording Repub congresscritters getting re-elected by distancing themselves from Bush. It's a setup, and once the elections are over they'll finish killing Social Security and driving our public school system into the ground.

I feel ill.
