I believe Osmama clearly thought the tape would help "re-elect" Nero Jr, too. He didn't want the slightest deviation in BushAmerica's foreign policy.
Remember that the Reactionary Right brayed the tape was a gross error on criminal mastermind Osmama's part since "obviously" he wanted the "weak" Kerry to win.
The Shitbrained Reationary Right: they either lie or cannot think straight---those are their only operating modes.
euzoius, That is why we haven't been attacked again. OBL wants Bush as president. As long as he is president there is no need to attack.

I sense sarcasam here :) I almost didn't see it, and was about to open the can. Yeah, who needs terrorists, when we have domestic social terrorists.
... hope that was sarcasam.

“I thought it was going to help,” Bush said. “I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn’t want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush.”
God Lord, but he is a simple man.
Posted by ann at February 28, 2006 09:36 AMUm, that was supposed to be: Good Lord.
Posted by ann at February 28, 2006 09:37 AMZalmay Khalilzad is on the payroll.
If he was told by Rumsfeld to tell people Bush is Allah reincarnated, he's do so.
Meanwhile, Little Boots is off to India and he's not exactly being warmed received. In fact, thousands are burning nasty effigies of him and the Indian government is quite worried about security.

You'd think they'd never heard of these Free Speech Zones Dubya likes to have the locals set up.
Posted by idiosynchronic at February 28, 2006 10:12 AMgoose1 is exactly right, Bush has graciously given Osama everything he's ever asked for, and more, with the Dubai deal. Bush is the best thing that happened to terrorists since C4. Didn't the Spanish AQ pretty much say they wanted Bush to continue in office because he's upped recruitment tenfold?
idio, Bush will just have to reiterate Powell's assurance that he'll be sending masses of jobs over to India, and they'll welcome him with open arms.
Posted by iamcoyote at February 28, 2006 10:17 AMChristopher:
You are wrong about Bush being not welcomed warmly in India. I just got back from India and even though majority of Indians think that Iraq war was unnecessary, they like America realizing the Islamic terrorism. India has been fighting it for last 15 years and now see America as a partner in doing so. Actually Bush is the first American president who has considered a special relationship with India. It may be to use India as a counter to China.
I was surprised to see that 70% people in India have favorable impression about America, inspite of the view that America is a bully with her action in Iraq.
Posted by suresh at February 28, 2006 10:17 AMSteve, we need pictures like this in "rabbit-ear land", to remind the red state knuckle draggers of the consequences of their misguided religious voting.
How come we never hear about agnostic suicide bombers?
Posted by TIKI AL at February 28, 2006 10:21 AMDennis, do you disagree with what I said? I did not say bush was a terrorist, but he has given them everything they want.
Posted by goose1 at February 28, 2006 10:29 AMSuresh,
I based my remarks on this piece:
Indians Burn Effigies of Bush Before Visit

Posted by Christopher at February 28, 2006 10:30 AMURcoyote: "Bush is the best thing to happen to terrorists since c-4". Can't argue with that one. Would make a great dem talking point, if their stem-cell spine regrowth program is sucessful.
Posted by TIKI AL at February 28, 2006 10:31 AMApparently the Maoist rebels n India are planning a warm welcome for Bush. They detonated a mine today and killed 50+ anti-Maoist personnel.
Posted by snark at February 28, 2006 10:31 AMI'm curious about what American troops are currently doing, having been told to stay in quarters in the wake of the golden mosque bombing (to not get in the way of (non, incipient) civil war). If they are not patrolling, trying to "keep the peace," what exactly are they doing? Are they regarding the ramped up violence as a teachable moment for the greater training efforts for the Iraqi armed forces? Is more training in fact taking place? If not "peace keeping" or training, what are they still doing there?
Charles
If not "peace keeping" or training, what are they still doing there?
Catching shrapnel.

Keeping their powder dry?

Staying the course. It makes Bush look tough.

Christopher, that's interesting, consdering that all I heard on the news was how they were going to welcome him.

Yes there were demonstrations by Muslims and communists against Bush. However, 1000 people demonstrating in a country of 1 Billion people is not significant. Please note that India has large Muslim population (2nd largest in the world)and majority of them are swayed by the religion more than actual facts. Also India being a democracy, the communists are also quite active. They are always against any thing that is American.
Posted by suresh at February 28, 2006 11:34 AMI'll tell you what the troops are doing: They are on guard missions. They man their post, they have "Rules of Engagement", meaning that they cannot use their weapon unless fired upon or threatened. Basically a sitting duck. They are given a certain allocated amount of rounds. The soldier has to account for every round. If not, he faces disciplinary action. If he is on night guard duty he will have to face debriefing in the morning before sleeping. His worst nightmare will be when they are probed by the enemy, a test to see if they have a weakness.
More training in down times.
There will be other missions for the highly skilled special ops soldier or Marines. But that is about it.
Here's another article that includes a photo of protestors in India. Looks like a lot more than a thousand people to me,
Posted by ann at February 28, 2006 11:43 AMPlease note that India has large Muslim population (2nd largest in the world)and majority of them are swayed by the religion more than actual facts.
One would think they would embrace Bush's visit given that he is also swayed more by faith than facts.

Actual facts? What actual facts are you referring to?

The facts that I mentioned are that Islam is not in any danger due to the spread of western culture and ideas. Therefore there is no need for any "Jihad" (Holy war) as proposed by Bin Laden and likes and supported by these masses. These same people were protesting US action in Afghanistan even though we all (including Democrats)agreed that it was the right action. When Indian Prime Minister supported US action in Afghanistan and asked all Indians to also support it, the Imam (spiritual leader) of Indian muslims asked all muslims not to listen to the Prime Minister.
Their protest against Bush is not based on the issues such as misleading us about the reason for war. It is because he started a war against a muslim state. If Bush attacked a non muslim country, these people have no problem with his actions.
