Comments: Ramdom Thoughts And Updates

Not to mention, several (maybe as many as 10) Republican House members may resign because they're wrapped up in the Abramoff fracas.

The Rice question started me thinking why an incredible diehard like Cheney may be considered likely to "step down" after the elections. Perhaps it has more to do with the 250 pages of recently released emails from him, among others.

Obviously, they know what was in them. They fought for 3 years to keep them out of Fitz's hands. Insider reports say they are damning to Cheney's sworn testimony. Maybe they don't have a choice about Cheney's longevity. We can certainly hope.

I don't get why putting rice in as vp would even be bad for gop senators. Look, all joking aside there is *no* political junky on either side who thinks condi could actually win an election. She is, and always has been, window dressing both as a woman and as a minority. So what would be the harm in bush putting her in--in fact, to my mind, its a stroke of genius. He can use her as a place holder and say to all the other gop hopefulls "look, I can't prejudice the next race by selecting one of you as VP. You are better off running as an outsider, if things are looking tough for the ?GOP nationally, and if things are looking good you can take condi as your vp and try to split the woman/democratic vote--the same rubes who always think theyw ill vote for colin powell.

Condi is and always has been a good soldier for bush and she will continue to be for her next paymaster.

If Thomas goes.....he's truly one of the worst. That would be very good news.

It is very good news about Fox. Don't think that didn't hurt--it did a great deal, and not just at Fox.

I never thought I'd say this...but I actually miss Trent Lott as the Puke's senate leader. Frist is such a downright creepy motherfucker that old Slow Drawl is palatable by comparison.

Replace one pathological liar with another? Sure sounds like Bu$hCo. And Rice is controllable by Bush, but Cheney, not so much. With Rice you have the advantage of knowing when she is lying - her mouth is moving.

I don't think the Repub. money men have decided yet on whom to bestow the crown, so maybe Rice as a placeholder VP (vowing not to run as President) makes some sense. They really can't select a Cheney half-term replacement from Congress without running the risk of picking someone covered in scandal crap.

i'll never forget you, condi!

"Given the revelations that Dubai still participates in the Arab economic boycott of Israel"

Regardless of the UAE port situation, your position on the boycott of Israel is typical of liberal apologists for Israel. You're just like the wingnutters in this.

Is there something wrong with boycotting an aparthied state that illegally occupies foreign territory?

Well well well!

Someone's got their panties all in a wad!

I personally know that the Isreal boycott isn't a big deal. They probabaly had the Isreal state department sign off on the deal for some cold hard cash. But it is supremly funny to throw this kind of thing back in the Repukes faces.

You're thinking we have to work with Republicans, I am more concerened with turning the Republican brand name into something akin to fecal matter. Any ammo that can be used, must be. We are not talking about polite political give and take. We are talking about putting down a crime syndicate.

End of story.

The most bizarre thing I heard yesterday was Tweety salivating over Sen. Kay Bailey Felon (R-TX) saying (and I'm paraphrasing) that "any GOP candidate for president would happily put her on the ticket as V.P.)

I'm beginning to like Trent Lott.

Think for a moment about the confirmation process in the Senate, when there are at least 4 GOP senators who will feel somewhat pissed about what Bush did to their 2008 chances

A replacement VP nominee has to pass through both houses of Congress, not just the Senate. And there will be a LOT of House members who will be pissed.

I actually don't think Condi is the most likely.

Someone at FDL said (sorry if I'm stealing your idea). But this is what I think they'd do:

Name Lieberman.

Dems couldn't (well, wouldn't, the whole spineless problem) vote against him. And Republicans wouldn't either because 1) they could make sure he failed and 2) they could ensure that a total creep had the inside track for the Dem nomination for President. Voila. The best way to leave the GOP field open. And ensure we're saddled with a losing proposition.

The anti-Israel sentiment of some of the posters is very telling. You people are disgusting.

"... aparthied state...."

Aparthied state: you really do not know what you are talking about, do you?

I'm beginning to like Trent Lott.

Don't go there. He's just posturing for his re-election campaign. This was a nice soundbite for him since the Republicans are having to distance themselves from Bush since Mr. 34% is becoming toxic to their campaigns.

Posted by ann at March 1, 2006 08:44 PM

Although I’m far from being a fan of the erstwhile Mr. Lott, I saw him discussing Katrina a few days ago and he was PISSED at Bush’s NON-response to Mississippi’s REPEATED pleas for help post-Hurricane. He appears GENUINELY ANGRY—as do his colleagues Gene Taylor (D-MS) and Charlie Melancon (D-LA)—at the DESPICABLE LACK of resources heading the Gulf Coast’s way.

Perhaps after FIVE LONG YEARS of eating Bushit, Congress is FINALLY awaking from its comatose slumber and REALIZING WHAT A DISASTER THIS ADMINISTRATION IS!

I just don't see Rice as a credible presidential candidate; there is no way she gets the nomination or is regarded as a threat . If anything, I continue to believe that Cheney wants the nomination, and even at 18% approval, feels he is the only man for the job.

Name Lieberman. Dems couldn't (well, wouldn't, the whole spineless problem) vote against him.

why should they? by all means, name lieberman. that way we can put a democrat in his senate seat!

honestly, even if he were VP, his presidential potential is between slim and none.
