Comments: Duke Cunningham Draws Nearly The Maximum

Good thing he is only a greedy, sleazy politican scamming millions, instead of some desperate black guy from the ghetto holding up a convenience store for 50 bucks, or he would get some real prison time.

Any bets where he'll serve his time? Folsom, maybe? Chino? Chowchilla? Susanville?

Naw. My money is on some cushy Federal country club befitting of his once high postion.

That would Lompoc.

That would BE Lompoc.

Yeah, he'll get one of the lower-security federal places, like Lompoc. They send the white collar guys there a lot, so Duke will go there. He'll die there unless he cuts a deal and rolls on someone, but to my surprise he hasn't done that yet.

Lompoc? Yikes! Isn't that where they send the serial killers?

The known part of his cut was $2.4 million. But he delivered almost $700 million for the Defense Department budget. The military had no desire or use for the digitization services that comprised the bulk of this theft. His crimes undoubtedly contributed to the increased deaths and casualties in Iraq caused by a lack of armor.

Life would have been a more appropriate sentence, though certainly not adequate for his crimes.

Eight years and four months. Let's see, with good behavior and being a model prisoner, he should have Thanksgiving dinner with his family in 2007.

The sad part of this story is that he probably will die in prison. I am sure that right now he would trade all his wealth for his freedom. Greed can destroy you as quickly as it made you rich. Others facing charges, like DeLay, are having sleepless nights I would imagine after this verdict.

What a trajectory: from legendary aerial duels with the North Vietnamese top gun to likely death in a prison cancer ward.

GOW, Folsom is a state prison not federal.

I saw "Walk the Line" last night, fucking outstanding!!

Duke-ster got what he deserved... my only problem with the judge is that he refused to let Duke-ster visit his 91-year-old mother for the last time (bleeding heart liberal that I am). 'Course "Mom" might have just scolded him - either for doing wrong or for getting caught doing wrong. :-p

bb: Anyone that plays "chicken" with a Mig 14, and forgets that unlike his F 4, they have missles AND GUNS, should be locked up. His memory was refreshed when the Mig opened fire on him, and he was too close to lock on a missle.

Same judgement that filled his pockets with money while thumbing his nose from a yacht.

Walk the line is cranked up ready to play as soon as my PF gets home.
