Comments: As GOP Senators Cave On NSA Spying, GOP House Challenges Bush On Dubai Ports Deal

This situation sucks. It's time for Vera Wang and Stella McCartney to start designing good looking army fatiques. Civil will state here. Hang the big fat chimp and his big fat chimpettes. and his little dog, too!

The obscene farce continues, unabated. Chief Fascist Republican swine Karl Rove faxes Congress with his orders of the day, and every gooper follows in precise formation, goose-stepping their way to the total destruction of the Constitution, and the now outdated concepts of judicial review and congressional oversight. An imperial presidency is now upon us.

And the reaction of the electorate?

Well, guess what. Cheney's polls aren't as bad as they were made out to be. It appears now that the drunken shooting spree in Texas has NOT seriously affected fat ass's standing, nor diminished in any way his firm grip on the short hairs of congressmen. Oversee the secret spying? Forget it.

There should be outrage, but there isn't, except in the liberal blogs and we all know what that means. Karl has permanently redefined the term, so now we have to scramble around and find a new label, like progressive. Well, all right. Fine. I'm now a progressive.

This lack of public outrage is a very bad sign. I fear for America. It is being destroyed step-by-step, and the solid fascist swine "base" remains locked at 40 percent or thereabouts.

I say again, and I'll keep repeating it. Any American who votes in November for a Republican is a goddamned TRAITOR.

The Congress serves no other purpose than providing a trough for the gluttons.

"And the reaction of the electorate?"

Well John, don't look for anything to change in the near future either. After one of the biggest ongoing scandals, the voters sealed the nomination for DeLay for the U S House. My question is how can a person that has been indicted and awaiting trial on charges of illegally funneling corporate donations, be allowed to run for fucking anything? The voters of this Country are down right braindead stupid fucks.!

Posted by Judith at March 8, 2006 01:59 AM

That's okay, because one day they will come for Chuck Hagel, Olympia Snowe, and Mike DeWine and no one will give a fuck.

What I want to know is how Rove gets people to change their minds? That alone is a story unto itself.

Posted by Judith at March 8, 2006 02:25 AM

Our crackerjack "press" is reporting this story as the "moderates" forcing stunning, bitter concessions from Deadeye Dick and the White House---expanded briefings and a requirement that a new "subcommittee" will have to "approve" any warrantless surveillance that exceeds 45 days.

So now rubberstampers Olympia and Chuck are untrained FISA judges as well ----that should work out well, I'm tremendously reassured.

History will mark March 7, 2006 is a crucial day in the destruction of our existing constitutional system. The Senate Committee charged with oversight on a linchpin federal statute has declined to investigate admitted violations of that statute, under pressure from the lawbreaking executive not to do so. This is a complete abdication of the Senate's constitutional function.

We no longer live in the constitutional republic that we were born into. And it is not being reported in the press. As far as I can tell, the Democrats on the Committee are hardly even speaking about it, let alone castigating and calling to account the Republicans who caved on our Constitution.

To vote for Republicans at this juncture in our history is to support unchecked executive power. That is what they stand for, their Dubai posing notwithstanding (on that the Senate will support Nero Jr, so the House bill is campaign window dressing).

Democrats must loudly assert that a vote for them is a vote to investigate and hold the executive accountable for his lawbreaking.

The war criminals in charge don't give a good goddamn about democracy, human rights, the rule of law, the fucking constitution, any of it. Anyone who believes they do is an irredeemable moron and anyone who claims they do is a lying rethug hack.

So what's next? I'm thinking a false-flag "terrorist" strike on US soil gives G. "Baby Doc" Bush the pretext he needs to cancel elections, declare martial law, declare himself Dear Leader for life and send dissenters off to those reeducation camps Halliburton is building.

Or do they even need to go to that extreme now that they can steal elections with impunity?

The democratic party has collaborated at every juncture with the destruction of our constitutional liberties.

Elect more democrats? What for? There's not a shred of substantative difference between the two parties.

Posted by Sonoma at March 8, 2006 06:56 AM

Well, they weren't "collaborating" yesterday, Sonoma: the vote was 8-7, strict party line.

And did you check out the confirmation vote on Alito? The most partisan confirmation vote in history.

I agree, there should be even more differences; but enough exist to convince me that I'd much rather have Dems running the show than these criminal Republicans.

But Dubai says the operations will belong to them NO MATTER WHAT CONGRESS DOES????

Where is the outrage?

Well, there's competence in running the government and then there's the current Republican administration. Remember FEMA under Clinton? Think about FEMA under Bush.

elect enough dems to the house and conyers will start impeachment proceedings.

Posted by benjoya at March 8, 2006 10:12 AM

Euzoiu and Ann: Your points are superfluous.

The democrats truckling in the face of the this specific Bushite assault on our constitutional liberties is all too typical of their lickspittle behavior across the board, from the issue of war to the intentional destruction of the federal budget.

How many Americans are aware of yesterdays party line vote? And don't blame the corporate media, either. Had each of the seven democrats convened in the senate chamber to denounce the GOP treason, for treason it is; had they attacked the Bushite GOP as a mortal threat to our freedom, in no uncertain terms; had they done these two things, the media would have been forced to report it. Were the seven to reconvene day after day after day, and with them their colleagues of both Houses, and demand adherence to the laws of the USA by the executive branch, by God they would be heard, and the people would rally to them.

Instead, what do we see? What do we hear?

Their lack of common sense courage is tantamount to collaboration with this nation's mortal enemies. They democrats are gutless, they are craven, and they are deserving of of every patriot's contempt. They've earned it, more times than I've got the stomach to recall.

They are collaborators with the agents of oppression. Goddamn them ALL.
