For a guy who was never in the military, RUMMY don't know shit from shinola when it comes to understanding what "real" war is like. He acts like a stupid, immature teenager who doesn't realize that "simulated" wars aren't the same as real wars where people really die, and you just can't push reset and start over again.
Like everyone in this administration, from the TOP down, Rummy is long past his "Peter Principle" levelo of employment!
Posted by oc democrat at March 13, 2006 05:42 PMFixing elections is one thing, successfully invading countries is quite another thing. To ignore the professional's advice was criminal.
However, in a one party theocracy, anything goes.
Posted by TIKI AL at March 13, 2006 05:52 PMThe picture is a riot! Did Bush just give him a hickey??? ;-)
Posted by Christopher at March 13, 2006 06:05 PMToday on CBS news, Bob Schieffer interviewed Gen. William Wallace on what went wrong in Iraq. After the interview was over, he comes back on live and says about the Iraq War, "...whatever you want to call it!", in a most loathsome manner. It's the most nauseated I've seen a headline anchor sound!

Rumsfeld was in the military (Air Force), but not during wartime.
Posted by dj moonbat at March 13, 2006 06:15 PMOur generals are singing like canaries in a desperate attempt to make sure the blame is pinned squarely on Bushco and his compliant Medal o' Freedom Wearer, as it certainly should be.
But don't forget that a huge part of the Iraq debacle is the American people's new love of military solutions and military "professionals", having been sold (and bought) the monstrous lie that modern war is all about "smart bombs" and "surgical strikes", where no one except the "bad evil madman dictator" gets hurt, other than a little "collateral damage".
We have become an insanely out of control militarist nation, the Prussia of the 21st century.
We MUST stop seeing every problem as a nail, just because we foolishly created the biggest, most dangerous hammer in history. And the generals responsible for forging and wielding that hammer know they are complicit in this immense disaster---hence all the vociferous leaking and finger pointing.
Don't get me wrong---I respect them for telling us what actually happened. But it's not the end of the problem.

Posted by ran at March 13, 2006 06:23 PMMy mistake on saying that Rummy didn't serve in the military. That said, he STILL don't know shit about running a war!
Posted by oc democrat at March 13, 2006 06:26 PMdj, I'm pretty sure it was the Navy.
Posted by bbtb at March 13, 2006 06:56 PMAh, yes. He was an aviator, which was what had me confused.
Posted by dj moonbat at March 13, 2006 07:21 PMIn order to win a war against the Godly one must KILL their God. Did Rumsfeld/Bush planned to send missionaries to Iraq and convert them to Christians? Those who are guaranteed entry into the kingdom of God and handsomly rewarded while their victims are guaranteed to go to hell are in no frame of mind to be converted to anything, alive that is. There can never be peace in the world and there never has been since hell was invented. The key ingredient in the jihad's thinking is that his victims are going to hell. The Bush gang's number one supporters are the hell fire and brimstone bunch. They are just like the Muslims with themselves going to heaven, "saved" while everyone else is going to hell.
Hell is the key to understanding that the Bible is a proved hoax. Formal proof requires the original material hoaxified by the hoaxers. It's been found and is on the net at the hoax-buster.org site. Millions now know the Bible is a proved hoax. The hoax nature of all religion is the key to understanding the thinking of Rumsfeld/Bush et al.
I think my name will get you to the hoax buster site if you would like to see the proof for yourself.
Posted by Bill at March 13, 2006 08:04 PMfwiw, during the 2000 election, I remember reading a bio on Rumsfeld in some MSM outlet--what sticks with me was the characterization of Rummy as determined to prove his military theories about moving 'fast and light,' rather than slow and heavy, which is the paradigm...well, Rummy got the chance to test his pet theories in Iraq, to the detriment of both his theories and our war effort--
All in all, it reminds me of that scene in Trading Places, when Duke v. Duke bet a dollar on Eddie Murphy, right before he bankrupted their company;>
Posted by DW at March 13, 2006 08:44 PMoozo: With the over-spending and over-reliance on the military, do all roads lead to Rome?
Posted by TIKI AL at March 13, 2006 10:41 PMBill, I see you are still preaching your message of hate. By-the-way, some people on this Blog are believers, so you are not endearing yourself to many here.
Posted by Judith at March 14, 2006 06:04 AMThe only way to win this is kill them with kindness, in a subtle way.
Judith, Your right there is no room or tolerance for hate, that's what the right wants!!! It will show a 'liberal hypocrisy' and that is not going to happen on my watch!
