Comments: Thanking Russ Feingold

Anjha, you may want to contact Feingold's office and let them know you're doing this. If the action is big enough, it could garner media attention, but we're talking tens of thousands before the press will give the action notice. Feingold's office probably has an activist network that can take the action and really get some response. You could also contact PFAW, MoveOn, PIRG and some other groups that have established activist networks to see if they would be willing to join the action and gather thank yous. In an action like this the only thing that will really make an impact is VOLUME. I think it's a fantastic idea, and could be a great action if enough people will participate.

Lordy, this is funny. Not only did Feingold run away - literally- when asked to debate his motion, but all the other Dem senators did the same - literally.

Posted by dipshit at March 15, 2006 09:11 AM

It sounds as if most of Feingold's offices wish he had never brought the issue up in the first place.

Dipshits who need a lesson in law, US History, the rise of fascism and civics = 1.

If you look at the record of Feingold, you can see that he puts America ahead of his party. How many politicians can do that? Certainly ZERO of Republicans and just handful of Democrats.

Anjha: I went ahead and called 5 of the numbers for Feingold's office, thanking them all. It took me maybe 5 minutes at the outside, gave my name & address and was told they were getting quite a few calls of thanks. Hey, 5 minutes for Democracy today, got me more than I usually get. thanks for the good idea.

How very true ann. However, the plot to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge and kill hundreds, if not thousands, was stopprd because of the legal electronic surveillance by the Bush administration of al-Qeada terrorists calling their agents in the US,

Nothing illegal about it.

Posted by dipshit at March 15, 2006 11:22 AM

domestic wiretapping with no warrant = illegal wiretapping

Posted by ann at March 15, 2006 11:57 AM

the plot to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge

the rocket scientist behind this "plot" had imagined not blowing up my beloved neigbor to the west, but to take it down by dissolving its cables with acetylene torches. but you knew that.

no, you probably didn't.

Exactly why I didn't respond. It's much more inflammatory if you claim it was a real plot and they were going to blow up a bridge. Telling the truth about it would be, well, boring, and no one in Idaho would get scared.

I called Feingolds people and thanked them for doing their jobs.

I called my Senators, Menendez and Lautenberg and requested they do the same.

Their staff reported they have not taken a position yet. They had better.

Posted by mparker at March 15, 2006 12:34 PM

Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO) even accused Feingold of "siding with the terrorists," and the Republican National Committee is mounting a petition against him. Move-on is asking everyone to call their Senators and let them know you support Feingold and so should they.

Posted by Judith at March 15, 2006 12:35 PM

Can we get Move-on to post this?

Posted by Judith at March 15, 2006 12:37 PM

Judith ~ The cons are mounting a petition because they're scared. Senator Feingold was against the war in Iraq, against the Patriot Act and wants to censure the pResident. This is the man to lead our party. If he is too good for the Dems, split the party so that someone can lead this nation back to reality. We need to turn the destruction of our country around.

Feingold '08

I've called my Senators and I wasn't pleasant!

Posted by Who is John Galt? at March 15, 2006 01:39 PM

I thank Senator Feingold for his political grandstanding. What great theater! What a great reminder to the American people about how serious the Democrats are in fighting Islamicism.

pessimist, read Rude Pundit's post today, and you'll know why the troll demons are all a-twitter. They've just gotten a desperate blast fax saying "do what you can to stop the bleeding, before Feingold gets support!"

Frustrating day of running errands after work with two 10 year-old-boys in the car. Good times, good times.

Why no technorati links to here? Does one have to post a special post linking to this post to have the posts go technorati (sorry, channeling Rummy there.)

Really, how does that work?

I went all over the blogosphere (with no map) talking up the campaign and linking to here.

I know it is on the move. I can feel it. I have received only positive feedback. People are sending the cards.

Will one of you educated blog people educate me on the technorati link thing?

Posted by Anjha at March 15, 2006 03:58 PM

Faxed a thank you to Senator Feingold, in which I let him know that I also took a few minutes today to do the following: E-mail my California Senator Feinstein, who sits on the Judiciary Committee, to tell her I hope she's got Feingold's back and we can count on her support, and send a fat donation to Ned Lamont so that Lieberman's tired wrinkly unsupportive butt will be retired soon.

What stopped Hackett in Ohio was that there are accusations that he abused the corpses of dead terrorists in Fallujah.

Adhering to the Dan Rather standards of reporting, it must be true since no one has stepped forward to prove it didn't happen.

Dipshit

Well Dipshit, if you go with a sign that says you oppose the Iraq war hoping that you will demonstrate in front of Bush, you will be forced to move about 2 miles from where Bush is. However, if you carry a sign supporting the Iraq war, you will be right in front of him. Now who is taking away right to free speech?

Posted by suresh at March 15, 2006 04:27 PM

"Are back from West Pac already, Bagley? I thought sure you would have to to read Don Quixote while you were out there!"

Actually, the title of the book was "Quixotic: A Leftist's Guide to Influence in American Politics."

Everyone here post the links to sites where information has been obtained, except you.

He's not alone, Judith! According to the Republican Comment Troll Handbook (Find it yourself! Why should I provide a link to support my assertion?) If you provide a link, you are making it easier for the falsehoods to be revealed! This would take away time and effort needed for the next falsehood!

Them liberals move quickly, you know! Got to keep 'em busy! Why, turn around twice, and they just might be taking over the government!

That's the point, you dullard, but the accusation is there nevertheless.

Posted by dipshit at March 15, 2006 07:01 PM

Do you support Feingold resolution to censure Bush?

Posted by Al at March 15, 2006 07:36 PM

"That's the point, you dullard, but the accusation is there nevertheless."

Yeah, and you Dipshit keep posting it as the truth. Then because you say no one has stepped forward to say it isn't true, it's true.

Let's follow that logic:

Bush had a gay reporter visit the WH quite often. He has been accused of being a closet homosexual by some. He never stepped forward and said he wasn't homosexual, so therefore it must be true that he a homosexual. See how simple that is?

By-the-way, I may be a stupid or unimaginative person, which is what dullard means, but I am not stupid enough to believe your bullcrap.

Posted by Judith at March 15, 2006 09:19 PM

Feingold really farted in church (or temple) with this thing. No one wants to come near him.

Lock onto these losers and you'll never reclaim either chamber of Congress.
