Great! Let's drill for oil and natural gas! More please!
I am going to buy a new SUV.
Oh yeah, it appears as though Mexico has lots of oil

I guess the invasion plans have been readied.
Posted by Bagley at March 15, 2006 05:21 PMOil in the Tajik-SAfghan basin!
I wonder how long it will take for the Tajik independence movement to get going. No doubt, they're thinking about that in next door Tajikistan.
Posted by herbal tee at March 15, 2006 05:24 PMYou know bagley, we love you. Keep coming back when bu$h gets down on his numbers.
Posted by bbtb at March 15, 2006 05:44 PMbbtb, 33%, OMG! Ol' teabagger's gotta love it!
And can I say, pessimist, kudos on the title, that's a keeper. You say it while faking a sneeze.
Posted by iamcoyote at March 15, 2006 05:49 PMYA know, if the big oil companies want to drill in places like that, fine. But they have to provide security on their own dime. No more unfunded mandates on our military. the oil companies and the thugs they hire have to be accountable to the world criminal court, of the war crimes court for thier actions.
If they can pocket 10 billion a quarter they can pay for their own security.
Oil, shmoil. All Bush has to do is legalize heroin. This year's record Afghanistan poppy crop would pay for all three current Bushco wars, and the upcoming invasions of Iran, Syria, and China, as well.

You people keepmistaking me for someone who supports President Bush. I disagree with this Administration on a whole host of issues: I am a Conservative.
That being said, however, I can feel the luv!
"...teabagger..."
Once again, iamcoyote, you demonstrate your mastery of humor and insightful political discourse.
Posted by Bagley at March 15, 2006 06:06 PMKabulshit, big oil is not going to pay for merc.'s if they don't have too. Especially when they can make the American taxpayer pony up the dough, all while the administration smiles their heads with approval!!
Posted by bbtb at March 15, 2006 06:24 PMbbtb
My point isn' that they wont it's that they should.
I know I'm a dreamer.
Pss, thnks fr th rsrch.
[Editor: ignore=off]But guys, the oil companies already are already using mercs for security. And yes, on our dime. That's where all the reconstruction $$ have been diverted. It's the main booming business in Iraq today. Remember the stories of millions of dollars in bricks were off loaded from trucks? Fallooja?
Posted by iamcoyote at March 15, 2006 06:40 PMYou people keepmistaking [sic] me for someone who supports President Bush.
If it waddles like a lame duck, ...
Prove it.
Posted by pessimist at March 15, 2006 06:50 PMBagley,
If you are a conservative then you are a Bush supporter. Bush is the most conservative president we have had, in what, eighty years?
Can we get over the fixation on ANWR now?
Posted by ann at March 15, 2006 07:24 PMThe problem with burning oil is twofold. First, global warming. Humans are acclimated to the current, status quo climate and climate zones. Global warming is bad.
Next, that oil ain't local, so we continue to be held hostage to those who have it.
Its time to move on from dinosaur goo.
Posted by God Of War at March 15, 2006 07:26 PMWell, this really helps 'the Carlyle Group'! More tax dollars to the poor man's group! These SOB's get to take their time solving Iraq's problems at the expense of our soldier's lives!
Posted by bbtb at March 15, 2006 07:37 PMOil in Mexico, as Bagley pointed out, combined with oil in the Afgan-Tajik basin, provides fuel for an increasingly compelling economic interest in these countries.
If you want to see how the U.S. government uses "economic hit men" to achieve these interests behind the scenes, John Perkins is one guy who has a story to tell.
I blogged about Perkins yesterday but feel free to google him (i'm not trying to hawk traffic but if you want to visit my blog, feel free) :-)
