Comments: Media Labels 2006 Democratic Iraq War Candidates As "Single Issue", But Not GOP Evangelicals

Let me answer your question in the customary two words:

Rank hypocrisy.

Why is this occurring? For the same reason that the media can hound to death a Democratic President for lying about a consensual affair and support the spending of millions of tax-payer dollars to "investigate" virtually every detail of his life, while pretty much paying lip-service to a Republican President who lies about virtually everything, including domestic spying w/out a warrant, the 'reasons' for going to war (how much did the media "investigate" the Downing Street Minutes?), torture and prisoner abuse, and on and on... As we all know, the media in this country, with damn few exceptions, (such as Democracy Now, Air America, and LINK TV), are merely tools of industry and it's governmental whores. You want "fair and balanced"? Here's your answer: Just be white, male, Republican, rich, and own/have vested interest in large American corporations. That is your best bet. Otherwise, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and just deal with it! For the most part, the current Repugni-con, UnAmerican, non-democratic, freedom-hating, shove-it-down-your-throat government tells the media what kind of slant they want and the kind stories they can print, and then they print it. End of story. When will we learn? How long until we say, "ENOUGH!".

Well put oppressmenot. A democracy remains healthy if the press is independant. Unfortunately our press is either lazy or intimidated and is no longer independant. As a result, our democracy is sick and needs a cure real fast.

How true. Remember growing up, when the Big, Bad Wolf was the Communists, and we were constantly reminded about how a major difference between us (the good guys) and them (the bad guys) was that we had a free and independent press, while their press was nothing more than a mean, nasty, government-controlled propaganda tool? Hmmm? How far we've come - backwards.

Why was it perfectly normal and absolutely necessary to impeach Clinton over nothing, but having committed numerous crimes against the American people, it would be ridiculous and even treasonous to impeach Bush? I think he started the war to grab more power and protection.

Double standards are just part of being a good republican.

Because when the economy is good and people are fairly content, there's not much for the opposition party to campaign on.

I have an idea. Why not campaign on hating the Los Angeles Lakers? They're mostly hated outside of California. And not like the Democrats are going to lose CA, so they can take Lakers fans for granted.

Just start chanting "Lakers suck!" at campaign meetings, and waive around posters of Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson with Devil horns on 'em.

Why reports call the Fighting Democrats 'one-issue candidates' ........................

Name-callling is a way to denigrate someone's opinion without ever discussing it.

If Democrats are 'one-issue candidates,' then we never have to address that issue (getting out of Iraq) -- or any of the other issues they are concerned about (because we don't acknowledge any other issues).
