Comments: I Love Helen Thomas!

The actual transcript of the Thomas-Bush exchange can be found here.

So do I!

Le Thomas is the Diva of the Washington Press Corp.

She's the anti Nora O'Donnell.

Posted by Christopher at March 22, 2006 05:42 AM

You can bet it will be ANOTHER four years before Georgie Boy will call on her to ask a question again.

Posted by Hank at March 22, 2006 05:48 AM

Interviewed by Wolf-piss-ant, Helen said she apologized to Bush, and that's why she was finally recognized. She also said it was nice of Bush to call on her. WTF?

Did they slip something in her oatmeal?

Apparently Bushco will be permitted to blithely lie (espouse "revisionist history") about the last round of UN inspections as long as Nero Jr remains in office.

Nero can't stop saying that Saddam "denied" the UN inspectors---even though they were admitted into the country, were carrying out inspections, reporting violations, and telling the security council that continuing the inspections would be useful and fruitful.

WE (not Saddam) ordered the inspectors out, and they had not reported that their work was futile or that Saddam was not permitting meaningful inspections. Leave aside the little fact that, according to Blix, they were slowly uncovering the FUCKING TRUTH: that Iraq had no WMD and certainly no nuclear program, i.e. that there was no basis whatever for our invasion.

But Nero continues to lie full speed ahead on this subject, with no follow ups from the crackerjack press to call him on it.

Posted by euzoius at March 22, 2006 06:20 AM

40 years of the "lost tribe" of weapons inspectors wandering the desert should look pretty good to even the most avid kool-aid drinker about now, considering the failed alternative.

"they were slowly uncovering the FUCKING TRUTH: that Iraq had no WMD and certainly no nuclear program, i.e. that there was no basis whatever for our invasion."

Euzoius, true which is why Bush had to get the inspectors out fast. Couldn't have the truth be known when you are spinning a lie.

Couldn't have the truth be known when you are spinning a lie.

Especially if you are blatantly invading a sovereign nation without political cover or declaration of war for the first time in our nation's history.

Posted by pessimist at March 22, 2006 08:17 AM

But pessimist, Bush has told us he NEVER had any intentions of going to war. And if I was an inbred cretin from Wheeling, WV, I would believe him.

Someone should have slapped those bastards that were applauding Bush today with a wet bar-rag.

I watched the exchange between Helen and Bush. It was, for his part, pathetic. She nailed him, and he sounded like a kicked puppy. No, make that a kicked, incoherent puppy. It is a damn shame that Helen is not thirty-two.

The rest of the questions were the usual post-spayed and neutered crap you hear every time a "registered" group of reporters show up at the WH. What will it take for a WH reporter to step into Helen's shoes?

Posted by tempus at March 22, 2006 02:15 PM

Well, for journalists to fill Helen's shoes, they would have to ask uncomfortable questions and not mince words. They also would have to accept not being called on, like Helen. Where have these so-called journalists been during those years when Helen was being degraded and disrespected by this WH? They sure weren't defending her or stepping in to fill her shoes (as if that was possible). She has more balls than every man in that Press Conference including the idiot at the podium.

You guys really amuse me.

The reason Bush called on Helen Thomas is because he knew EXACTLY what she would do and he effectively baited her into doing it.

If you think Helen Thomas got the best of Bush and consider her a hero, more power to ya.

Excuse me now while I go laugh my butt off.

Yeah David, that's why he has avoided interacting with her for three fucking years. Must be that baiting technique he does so well.

Posted by Judith at March 22, 2006 07:37 PM

Bush did answer the Tuber's "question." He just made sure that he did it in the way he wished, not as she demanded.
