Comments: The True Victims From Bush's Remarks Yesterday

Gosh. It must be tough for the Brown Shirts at this time. Poor things. Expected to stand en masse and yell "Seig Heil to the president gasman!" The resident SA will soon be along to extol the virtues of the Comrade Leedur of the U.S.S.A. It's easy to understand if you realize they think bases in Iraq are "enduring" bases, not "permanent." The semantics make it much better.

Posted by tempus at March 22, 2006 08:30 AM

The Democrats are once again not jumping on the opportunity delivered to them by this President to go on offensive. If they do not act soon, the Republican Spin Machine will effectively negate the Bush comments and turn those into practical policy statements.

When these Democrats going to learn?

Posted by suresh at March 22, 2006 08:41 AM

This is a problem for the GOP, who will have no choice but to stick with their president on this one. And this is an opportunity for Democrats to begin a framing of the GOP and this White House as a permanent war party.

For gawd's sake please, Dems, use that store of Dry Powder you used on nothing else -- but kept promising to -- and fire with both barrels.
.
The pReznit and his administration lied to Congress, to the public, to the UN and to the world to get authority for war. THEY ABUSED THAT AUTHORITY for personal and partisan gain and, among other things, give Chimpo W. Fuckup unprecedented imperial powers.
.
YOU WERE LIED INTO SUPPORTING THE IRAQ INVASION, Dems. Everyone knows it and when the flying monkeys start waving flip flops, just fucking say so. And add that the asshats are waving around fucking props like Carrot Top in a political debate and deserve to be taken as seriously and tell that to any GOP-fawning media asshole that chimpishly flies at you about it too. Jeez.

I live in a territory where homosexuality is open and tolerated, I have never heard of any ever having pedophile tendancies.. In fact we use them to take care of the children and have never once seen a problem...

I wonder what Rove thinks he has to gain by letting Bush loose, unscripted, un-wired in front of reporters who know he is going to lie to them. I did see a bit of the pressconf, and as usual Bush mangled the language, rambled, disassociated questions and answers, made stupid cracks and jokes and barely contained his contempt for most of the questioners. Performances like that won't bring him back to 51%, Karl.

when is our SCLM and our congress going to wake up and start to talk about what the Bush plan for Permanent War means.

the former Texas governor is due to warm the seat of govt through January 2009. that's 34 months. Let's base our assumptions of the last 36 months and project that the cost in human terms will be another 2300 US soldiers killed, another 10,000 maimed, wounded or disabled for life. the financial cost, financed of course by deficit spending, will be another $350 BILLION, and paid for through more off-budget supplemental appropriations. the Congress will most likely roll over and authorise these at the first whiff of Rovian name calling.

at some point there will have to be someone to stand up and make this stop. the media could start to spotlight the erosion of our economic future. the congress can simply stop funding Bush's misadventure. but it will take someone courageous enough to endure the slings and arrows of the right wing.

this is the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan on crack. we can't afford 3 more years.

I'm struck by the extraordinary selfishness of President Bush. The Iraq war is not about him, it's about the American people, our soldiers, the Iraqis and the world. Passing on the Iraqi problem to the next president because he, what?, doesn't want to risk being labeled a president who lost a war?

Our Commander-in-Chief is AWOL. Congress needs to wake up to the fact that our president is surrounding himself with delusions; the possible repercussions are dangerous, particularly since decisions otherwise are left to Cheney and Rumsfeld, two people whose power in the present circumstances only Bush can bring to heel by firing Rumsfeld and either forcing Cheney to resign or drastically cutting back his staff and power.

When the kids get back and are challenged by their wounds, physically and emotionally, when they realize the war was a sham, when they realize how much the administration financially abandons them, that's when they turn against the war mongers.

Saddam Had WMD: The Missing Dots

For in the 12 hours of tapes revealed so far is documentation that Saddam had active WMD programs and conspired to deceive weapons inspectors, hiding them and then spiriting them out of the country with Russian help.

In short, they are a damning indictment of the "Bush lied" crowd and a total justification for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

On another of the tapes, one of Saddam's top aides asks rhetorically, "Where was the nuclear material transported to?" Answering his own question, he then says, "A number of them were transported out of Iraq."

From what we know so far, the postwar intelligence in this material may prove the prewar intelligence to be on the money.

Saddam had WMD. Now we know.

Exactly. You hit on a crucial point (although I doubt you realized what you were actually saying).

The voters of 50 years ago depended on the newspapers and the big 3 networks for their information. Today there are so many alternate sources for news that the voters can educate themselves outside the liberal spin zone. To say that the voters of 50 years ago were better informed is just stupid (of course from your point of view they probably were because the media had a monopoly on news information).

You just can't deal with the fact that voters can personalize their own news gathering and make their own decisions (i.e. they can think for themselves).

Your little diatribe is interesting in that it proves what the left really thinks of "middle america" and decent, hard working Christians (who by the way make the country work, not people like you). Keep it up. You are in the minority and will remain there for a long time.

There is a huge difference. These are not the same as the rockets, tank shells, and 20 mm. A-10 shells that were also used in 1991. Perhaps I have to make myself clearer. Saddam Had WMD: The Missing Dots
Tuesday March 14, 7:00 pm ET
Ibd

Stephen Hayes of The Weekly Standard has revealed that President Bush has ordered the release for public analysis of more than 3,000 hours of audiotapes of Saddam Hussein chairing his Revolutionary Command Council and 48,000 boxes of records documenting his military activities.

Is the Weekly Low Standard connected to the Neocons? With all their credibility we must listen to what they report!

In one 1992 tape, Saddam discusses the diversion of electric power from a massive plant in Basra for a uranium-enrichment process like one the U.S. used to create the first atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. In another tape, a top Iraqi scientist explains to Saddam how uranium is being enriched through the advanced process of plasma separation.

When did Bush invade Iraq? Was it 1993?

This works with the people scout described above. Please don't keep bring this bullshit here. Please don't waste our time with these lies and deception. The Downing Street Memo told how Bush, Cheney and others used the office of special plans to create the WMD deception.

The three major networks had some of the best newspeople this Country has ever seen, or will ever see again. People were informed, not feed the latest gossip about Britney Speers. News was news, not entertainment, and yes, I think people were more interested in the news than they are now. If it isn't about gossip, or the latest fashions, or who is screwing who, then we're not interested. The dumbing down of Americans has been totally sucessful. Look at the major networks daily schedule. That tells you all you need to know.

By-the-way, the anti-War protests have fallen short. However, whether or not people finally get mad enough to protest does not negate the effectiveness of protesting. How sad that we have become so complacent and disinterested in our political health. That is part of the disinterest in our Democracy that we are talking about here, and is the reason that we are not better educated today. We can't get out of our lounger and sit the can of beer down long enough to care.

Also, the attention span of many Americans today is nill.

Ga6, you can believe the moon is made of green cheese. I won't stop ya.

Saddam had WMDs. The pre-war intelligence was correct. Read the link again.

I know some lefty blogs are trying to rationalize it away. Especially that Errorposte fella here. He seems to devote his life to the spin cycle.

Anyways, makes Hillary look good for 2008. Maybe Bill told her, eh? "Uh, ignore the left loonies, honey. That's good intel. Bush is right on this."

LOL.

Reinstate the draft and suffer 1000 a month dead, and see how big the demonstrations will be.

Fools have short memories.

LOL Muck,
If Sadaam had WMD's then where are they? LOL, do you really believe he hid them? Well, then that makes Jr. look even stupider. He was outwitted once again, this time by Sadaam.

This has been debunked a number of times.

Keep following those Elmer Fudd twins.

Yep, you got the Goebels disease. If you repeat a lie enough times you think people will finally believe it.

Why do you enjoy having our country be a laughing stock?
