Comments: Russians And Chinese Tell Condi "Forget It" On Iranian Sanctions

This is what happens when you treat the world with contempt.

A story out of DC is Rummy will probably soon be replaced. No new DOD Secty will be crazy enough to bomb Iraq.

Condoleezza (from the Italian "with sweetness") was a Chevron director from 91 till 2001, and had a Chevron tanker named after her. It was later renamed to prevent the public from finding out just how oily conflicted she was.

Guess the Chinese and Russians found "sweetness" quite bitter.

Steve, you favor Iran having nuclear weapons?

Posted by muckdog at March 30, 2006 10:58 PM

muckdog, The Iranians are 10 years away from being able to produce a weapon.

Which presidential candidate last election cycle thought nuclear proliferation was the most important thing facing america today...that would be Kerry.

birthday bb boy, you still up celebrating?

Rice needs to learn how to hand pick her audiences like Bush does. And stay on military bases most of the time.

Recall that in 2002/3, the Security Council refused to pass another resolution authorizing again the use of force against Iraq.

The US leaned on previous UNSC rulings and did what they wanted: invade, occupy and exploit.

No surprise the Russia and China are not willing to pass a resolution with sanctions in the UNSC on Iran: they want to deny Bush a crutch for yet another war.

Bush will claim UN backing regardless of what the UNSC does. Bush will use the air force and navy to do some more shock and awe on Iran, and forget that Iran can do some of their own S&A in Iraq (with the US Army and Marines very likely paying the price), the Straits of Hormuz, and the Persian Gulf. Iraq has lots of missiles that are modern and effective against naval ships and petroleum tankers.

Bush won't be able to tolerate not having actions to take against Iran, since his whole self-image would be destroyed after the recent escalation of rhetoric he and his people have conducted.

War in late summer against Iran. Count on it.

"Rice needs to learn how to hand pick her audiences like Bush does. And stay on military bases most of the time."

Jim, that may not be a good idea, since the Army just banned use of privately bought body armour.

Can you believe that Judith? I'll be writing my merc. brother in law and find out what he uses.

Steve, you favor Iran having nuclear weapons?

That reading comprehension of yours is seriously slipping. Perhaps it's time you considered a remedial course.

muckdog must be off his meds.

Steve, you favor Iran having nuclear weapons?

This is not the point of the post and you know it. Quit trying to reframe the argument.

Boring. now that most of the trolls have left, due to your constant bitchin' there is nothing left but your tired old drum beat, that echos off of the walls of your insane asylum.

I lurk from time to time, but I find such little intelligent discourse, and wonder why. Then I just move off to a liberal site that has some people that have more than hate as their movitivation for living.

Posted by carpediem at March 31, 2006 07:01 AM

Steve,

I'm wondering. Do you take the threads from posts of say, six months ago, copy them and then just paste them on these new threads?

Cuz' all I ever see is the same tired cacophony of mind numb liberals whinning about their miserable lives. Hate, Hate, Hate. Bush is Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. America is Wrong, Wrong, Wrong.
Kerry is great, great, great.
Edwards will win in 2008, 2008, 2008.

Wake up guys, smell the coffee. You are proof that the dead can actually walk.

Posted by Carpediem at March 31, 2006 07:05 AM

crappy you still are the same tired, boring dumbass time after time...get lost bedwetter.....

Posted by headxray at March 31, 2006 07:22 AM

Carpe, You are bitching about bitching? HAHAHAHAAHA!

Posted by goose1 at March 31, 2006 07:27 AM

Obviously Carpe is afflicted by the Republicon inability to self-analyize.

He does seem to have a rather serious case.

Best to keep ones distance.

Posted by snark at March 31, 2006 07:30 AM

analyze...

...Self-analyze.

:)

Posted by snark at March 31, 2006 07:32 AM

Crape, WE'RE not bored, and it's OUR lives that are miserable, so why don't you take your happily ignorant ass off to your new lib'rul sites, which I'm sure highly value your sparking, original insights into BushAmerica.

That's called a win-win situation.

Posted by euzoius at March 31, 2006 07:37 AM

Rather than remind the wrong-winger wregulars of their personal foibles, think of what this action of Russia and China means: the US can no longer bully the UN into doing its bidding! Even 'Bulldog' Bolton doesn't frighten the world anymore! Tony Blair was just in Australia telling the Parliament there that 'being America's friend is becoming very difficult.' It is only a matter of time before the United States rates the kind of disrespect once afford to countries like Albania. The nations of the world are preparing to protect themselves when - not if, when - our economy collapses. When it does, we will know who our friends used to be - everyone we ever had.

Posted by pessimist at March 31, 2006 07:42 AM

Totally frivolous comment (I admit I haven't read the post yet)

That must be the side of Condi's face that isn't constantly lying ("I didn't realize there was such a side", you say). I think that because that photo didn't make me want to hurllllll. I hate her lyingass almost as much as (if not more so actually since I expect more from a woman, call me sexist) than George, Cheney, Rummy, Wolfy...

Posted by Sharon at March 31, 2006 07:48 AM

"The world is made for people who aren't blessed with self awareness"

I think this is why the trolls are always so blissful.

Posted by ann at March 31, 2006 07:49 AM

Ohhhh, crappy day. Falloo fallay!

Would a passable definition of irony include a Reich wing nut who derides others for maintaining a drum beat of constant repetition of politically partisan talking points?

Could it be when a Repugnicant complains about people showing something other than undying fealty for Putsch, while still bashing Clinton five years after he left office?

Or is it just pretty much whenever these Cheneying sons of bastiches open their vacuous pie holes?

By the way: welcome to your world for the forseeable future, Repugnicants. The vast majority of humanity has seen through your vile kimchee, and wouldn't trust you to help them across the street. Sorry about your luck...

Posted by (: Tom :) at March 31, 2006 07:59 AM

All right, point taken, ignore the trolls, etc., etc.

Bushco is following the exact same "strategy" with Iran that it took with Saddam's Iraq---funding opposition expat organizations; "entire world is against 'em" rhetoric; Mullahs and Iranian president are "madmen"; daily hyping of nuclear "programs" and non-existent WMD; tales of "terrorism support" without admission that Al Qaida (our actual enemy) and the Mullahs hate one another and are commited ideological opponents; heart-rending cries that Iranians yearning to "breath free" are under intolerable political oppression; and UN diplomacy that will be futile and ultimately fruitless for a million and one reasons.

Nero Jr and his crackerjack neocon team really has no ability to learn from their past successes, so this re-tread campaign against Iran is no surprise. The question this time around is what is the rest of the world going to do about our bellicose militarism and aggression?

Posted by euzoius at March 31, 2006 08:12 AM

Hey carpe, care to share a link for the liberal site with intelligent discourse? Just sent it to muckdog -at- gmail. Thanks in advance.

Posted by muckdog at March 31, 2006 08:15 AM

I view this development with fright, not joy.

Some people within this administration, particularly those close to Cheney like Bolton, would like nothing better than an excuse to walk away from the U.N.

Sad to say, but Condi's diplomatic failure is our failure, too. Traditional methods of state to state relations in disagreed upon matters -- which is to say war and nothing but war -- could easily follow.

Condi can't push through language with teeth, or get China and Russia to even consider tougher actions while Iran is pulling crap like this? (MIRVs?!? Christ, if that doesn't give everyone the willies, I don't know what will.) Then, look for the neo-cons to come back strong. You might even see Israel just lash out without waiting for the UN, or France. Heck, France of all places said they reserve the right to use nukes pre-emptively in certain circumstances, in a comment Chirac made clearly meant for Iran. If the UNSC fails to deal with Iran in a way pleasing to the west and the U.S., then bad things could follow.

Posted by Brian Bell at March 31, 2006 08:18 AM

Sorry Muck, but if you feel there is no intelligent discourse around here, be gone.

Posted by Steve Soto at March 31, 2006 08:25 AM

Bush cast his lot on this issue when he blew off the NPT in favor of securing unilateral American economic interest by embracing India's flauting of the NPT. Now China wants to sell nuclear reactors to Pakistan, the Iranians are testing ballistic missiles and there are reports that Saudi Arabia is pursuing nukes in conjunction with Pakistan. And where are we with North Korea?

Bushco. has no credibility on non-proliferation.

Posted by snark at March 31, 2006 08:36 AM

Trolls idea of intelligent discourse is if you disagree with them you are not intelligent.

Posted by goose1 at March 31, 2006 08:42 AM

Idiots or not, they still managed to get a hell of a lot of people to respond to their bullshit, huh?

Still wondering why they keep coming back?

Heh.

Posted by iamcoyote at March 31, 2006 08:51 AM

Did Rice really think that China would go along with sanctions after signing an oil deal with Iran late last year?

Posted by Daryl at March 31, 2006 08:59 AM

China is proof that the American Era is running out of gas. But then, what can one expect of a 1945 engine of empire? America isn't making parts for that antique anymore, and the service manuals are considered 'quaint' by the staff mechanics. But then, they would be hard pressed to repair it anyway - their tools are stuck up their dorsal ports and they can't eat enough Ex-Lax to extract them without exposing their cranial cavities to the vaguaries of the environment!

Posted by pessimist at March 31, 2006 09:39 AM

God damn-it! Now we not only have to invade China and Russia to bring democracy to our little slant-eyed and pasty white brothers, we've got to do England too! The only thing good about this is my Military-Industrial stocks are going to go sky high!

Now, if I can only get the CIA to provide a Blair-Osama connection so I can find the WMDs stored on the Thames! G.W. Busch
