Comments: Lindsey Graham: Ignorant Fascist

off topic, but Is anyone listening to Randi Rhodes on AirAmerica? She is kick'in Ass on the NSA spying pgm and the hearings today! This show is worth taping.

Posted this on OT immedaitely following the hearings; I'll post it here now. (I feel it must be repeated.)

Good Morning All. I do not have Spring fever - I have Impeachment fever.

The Censure hearing this morning was less than impressive. Most Judiciary Members did not even bother to show up!

The hearing in its entirety will be re-shown on CSPAN this evening at 8:50 ET.

That brings me to my call on you all. Please contact the following Senate Judiciary Members and bitch them out for not even attending the hearing.

Kennedy 202-224-4543 (staffer says, "Kennedy not in town." WTF?!?!? Get your ass in town and do the Nation's business.)

Biden 202-224-5042 (staffer says "He should have been there, not sure why he was not." Huh?!?! Me neither; let's call him on it.)

Feinstein 202-224-3841 (line still busy)

Schumer 202-224-6542 (line still busy)

Durbin 202-224-2152 (staffer says "I don't know his schedule, he is very busy." Uh, I am very busy too - busy attempting to preserve our Republic.)

The toll free switchboard number is 1-888-355-3588. Perhaps you can call your own Senators and ask them to sign on. I did; for the second time.

One can also thank Feingold, Leahy and Cole for being there and asking tough questions (Cole disappeared and did not question?)

Repukes in attendance: Specter, Hatch & Graham

No one seems to recognize the gravity of this.

OK, I am back on the phone now.

Thanks all.

OK , so not so off topic, I was more psyched to post than to read, so I wrote my comment first!

this Censure hearing is absolutely rich. Here we have a bunch of GOPers reading the riot act to GOPer John Dean for his role in the GOP Nixon White House and it's crimes. While Graham and that bunch of jokers are calling Dean a "felon", maybe they'd like to trot old Dick Cheney and Donny Rumsfeld out to scream at them for their role in the Nixon Admin. Crooked Republicans, investigating a crooked Republican president (BushII) calling other crooked Republicans felons. I really, really hate to do this, but - It takes one to know one, fellas!

Posted by T2 at March 31, 2006 02:19 PM

T2:

Or perhaps if they are so against listening to anything an alleged felon is telling them, then why do they allow John Poindexter and Elliot Abrams to operate inside the Bush Administration?

I'm a constituent (cough). Just FYI, but I've written him several times. The last time, after which I gave up, included "Living Under Fascism" by Davidson Loehr.

Perhaps you meant knowing and willing fascist?

Steve, WHY did you ever have any respect for Graham in the first place? Senator Box Turtle isn't much better either. How do these asshats ever rise so high in any field, let alone as public servants? Oh wait, I know.

Randi Rhodes is still on Air America? Air America is still on the air?

It used to be that I would occasionally pass within 20 feet of one of Air America's broadcast towers. The signal was weak, but I could pick up the station. What a pathetic group of broadcasters.

By the way, how are Air America's ratings?

Posted by Bagley at March 31, 2006 05:56 PM

Steve,
One thing you should know is that Graham graduated from Univ. of SC law school, known at the time as one of the worst law schools in the US.

Bagley, well I guess you must have been one of those people that said Air America would last only six months, LOL!! Rush Limbaugh is the one that has been hemoraghing listeners. After all, who wants to get distorted news from a drug addict LOL!

"...I guess you must have been one of those people that said Air America would last only six months..."

Air America is economically unviable. They have been on life support since they started. I believe that they are no longer in the New York market. I know they lost providence, RI, and Philadelphi, PA.

"Rush Limbaugh is the one that has been hemoraghing listeners."

Source please.

Posted by Bagley at March 31, 2006 06:36 PM

Hmm, ratings seem to be awfully damned good.

It's so difficult to find information on the net.

Air America just had their second anniversary, I believe.

But about Lindsey Graham, am I understanding him correctly that the new argument is that Bush believed he had the authority to order unwarranted wiretaps, and therefore can't be censured because he didn't knowingly ignore the laws? Since when is ignorance of the law an excuse for breaking it? An average citizen could never use that excuse.

I'm even more shocked, because a letter I got from Obama today said somewhat the same thing:

I agree with Senator Feingold that the Administration's attitude toward congressional oversight and the FISA law has been cavalier and arrogant. We are a nation of laws, and those laws should be applied to all of us, from humblest citizen to the president of the United States. No president should be allowed to knowingly and willing flout our laws, and I believe the President exceeded his authority with his domestic wiretapping program. The justifications offered that the president possesses inherent presidential authority under Article II, or was granted that authority in the 2001 Authorization to Use Military Force -- seem to contradict prior precedent and our constitutional design.

But my and Senator Feingold's view is not unanimous. Some constitutional scholars and lower court opinions support the president's argument that he has inherent authority to go outside the bounds of the law in monitoring the activities of suspected terrorists. The question is whether the president understood the law and knowingly flaunted it, or whether he and his aides, in good faith, interpreted their authority more broadly than I and others believe the law allows. Ultimately, this debate must be resolved by the courts.

Anjha,

Your source for the "success" of Air America is the Air America website: your joking, right?

But shall we take a look at the numbers. Air America "..successfully increased its P12+AQH Sum-Fall by 23 percent (27,800 to 34,300)." Very impressive!

Do you know what this means?

It means that in a market of almost 8 million people (residents and commuters) Air America was able to increase the "...average number of persons listening to a particular station for at least five minutes during a 15-minute period" by 6500 people. (http://www.arbitron.com/radio_stations/home.htm).

Quite impressive!

"Air America just had their second anniversary, I believe."

Second anniversary?

Ann, they have been failing for more years than that.

Posted by Bagley at March 31, 2006 07:18 PM

"They have been failing for more years than that." thanks for vetting that for us you supply side carpet kneeler. In case you hadnt noticed, your ship has a thousand leaks and has started its slow descent; your only hope is to don drag with the rest of the "Virtue of Selfishness" crowd and get ready to hit the life boats. Putz.

Can you possibly be more dis-joined in your response. If this is the best that you can do, may I suggest medication?

Posted by Bagley at March 31, 2006 07:51 PM

"Dis-joined" is that a word? If it isnt, thats not the best way to articulate a "joined" thought. But then, illiteracy has always been one of your sides best hopes. Obviously.

"Can you possibly be more dis-joined in your response."

No, but your disjointed thought processes are well known around TLC.

Where is the outrage that only 2 democrats showed up for the censure hearing???

"Where is the outrage that only 2 democrats showed up for the censure hearing???"

Pmcgillian, pretty amazing isn't it. TWO! Yet, they will want my vote come November. Feingold has truly been out on a limb alone.

Bagley, use someone else's bandwidth. If you aren't going to stick to the topic in the thread, then be gone. (IP banned)

Posted by Steve Soto at April 1, 2006 11:07 AM

Hello Steve,

IP refresh! You might want to try banning the posting name or email address.

Besides, if it was not for me you folks would not have anything but a circle jerk of incestuous flagelation.

Posted by Bagley at April 1, 2006 06:24 PM

"If it was not for me.." If I had to guess, my bet would be that youre a classic, corporate kiss-up-kick-down type addicted to being verbally (and intellectually)humiliated - and coming here is cheaper for you.
