Comments: GOP Ready To Filibuster Against Guest Worker Program

I thought they (GOP) would never use the filibuster, they always want an up and down vote. HAHAHAHAH

I'm Catholic.

Any Catholic who votes for today's GOP is a Christ-loathing blasphemer.

And the Pope, that fucking derelict of a Pope, had best get off his War On Fags, War On Condoms, War on Women, War on Stem Cells and War on Reason and get his ass around to the War on Poverty and War on Hate, lest he be in for the worst fucking surprise of his life (afterlife, actually) at St. Peter's gates. Cuz let me tell ya, Popey...I've read the New Testament several times, and I don't recall Jesus ever ONCE slamming the gays or broaching the topic of reproduction...but he sure was hellbent on doing good for the least amongst us. Yeah, he hammered (that's for you, Tommy, you christ-killing fuck) that "whatsoever you do for these least amongst you, that you do unto me" theme just about every chance he got.

Sad, is it not, that a rogue like me knows Christ better than the Pope and his robe-draped minions?

Sad indeed.

The Catholic pulpits told people NOT to vote for Kerry, a Catholic, helping to elect the most inept president in history.

Meanwhile they shuffle around and protect pediphiles, paying off victims with millions of dollars donated by the hardworking "faithful". Who in their right mind would continue to contribute to this outfit, until they shake out their Tom Delays and Cunninghams?

filibusters, crooked dealings, Constitution beating, spying, going to war without cause......all of these GOP actions are the result of one thing - they rule Congress and the Supreme Court. There is only one way out, and that is to vote them out. They know that, and have developed a complex set-up to control elections. We'll have to have a huge majority to get them out.....they know what will happen if they lose the House, or Senate. Running the cheap punk DeLay out is a great first step, but only that, a step.

Good thing Bush didn't nominate Gonzales to the bench! That would've really messed with the GOP's "principles."

Don't forget, the reason so many Mexicans have come to the U.S. scince 1994 is because NAFTA is weakening labor standards in its member countries.
True reform of NAFTA cannot take place as long as corporate criminals are running the beltway, but if Bush wants a real debate on thisa issue, let's give him one!

Maybe they can concentrate on the illegals in the prison system first. Deport them to their countries of origin. Start immediate savings for the taxpayer.

Wouldn't the prison system be complicit to illegals by providing them with food, water and shelter? Then these red state fools could bring a lawsuit against their own state for harboring fugitives.

This issue, I call it illegal hiring cause that is what it is, could have been dealt with years ago, Bush could've done somthing 5 years and 5 million people ago, but he's a coward as is the Congress. There are legitimate economic, labor and political issues and they need to be thought fully addressed and not swept under the rug with platitudes( Americans won't do that job or we are a nation of immigrants etc). Now we are in a bad place because we are outsourcing jobs, in debt to China and need to keep jobs here, and we need workers but not so bad as to depress wages 5 years in a row. No need to deport 11 million but I sure would love to see some businessmen going to jail. where I live a local business hired in India, put the guys on the plane and then handed them a labor contract to sign when they could not refuse and get off the plane. they were brought here and locked into dormitories and paid less than minimum wage. sick stuff.

What do I propose to do with the 11-12 million who are here now? I'd propse a third option which is attrition through strict enforcement (severe fines and jail time) against employers who hire illegals. Without jobs, many illegals will have no choice other than to leave the way they arrived. You don’t have to regularize them (i.e., increase the supply of low-income labor), nor do you have to round them up.
