All the "journalists" who run and produce those shows should be ashamed.
The fact that they aren't says volumes about their ethics, ideals, and professionalism.
Posted by Zappatero at April 4, 2006 04:42 PMOnce again you're actually missing the point. This just shows how responsible and balanced these programs are. Since the programs themselves are already slanted to the liberal side, having these conservative guests merely evens out that built-in bias providing a fair and balanced view to Main Street Americans. Sheesh, isn't that obvious?!?
And yes, that was completely dripping with sarcasm. Posted by Dale at April 4, 2006 04:55 PMEh, that was a left-leaning audience. Sounds like McCain handled it well.
McCain 2008! Viva McCain!
Posted by muckdog at April 4, 2006 04:55 PMmucky: Wrong church AND wrong pew. Try again, a little lower. Ahhhhh, that's it! (;>
Posted by Donald Cormac at April 4, 2006 05:15 PMI'm not putting on my tinfoil hat, but isn't it interesting that the percentage of all three networks are the same or nearly the same? What a coincidence.
Posted by Judith at April 4, 2006 05:30 PMmucky, sometimes I wonder if you haven't turned into a parody of yourself.
Posted by iamcoyote at April 4, 2006 05:31 PMBy-the-way all you Bush apologists, you know what you can do with these percentages don't you.
Posted by Judith at April 4, 2006 05:32 PMtwo brief points that i offer respectfully......i checked the web page of your source (media matters) and they seem to have a slant of their own on this issue......so it seems possible to me that they are a less than objective font of illumination in this instance.and secondly i think that your use of the nazi and hitler comparisons demeans belittles and diminishes any kernels of truth which might be present in the point you are trying to convey thanks. jjj
Posted by jsquaredone at April 4, 2006 06:05 PMYou get what you watch. Stop watching. It's corporate TV. Why torture yourselves?
Posted by Rhonda at April 4, 2006 06:40 PMA comparison of the Bush Neocons to the Nazi party is entirely appropriate. One glaring difference is that Hitler began with a desperate population struggling to survive their broken economy. He succeeded in raising his people up before destroying them and their country in his murderous war of world domination.
In the case of Bush, the war of domination comes first. It, in conjuncion with unprecedented tax cuts are designed to bring us that desperate economy. Well here it is. Nine trillion dollars in debt.
Have they killed millions of innocent people at this time? No. Not yet. They're only up to a couple of hundred thousand at the moment. They are the same racists and homophobes, tortures and murderes. They are fascists.
Iraq is to France as Iran is to England. We have become invaders and war criminals under a banner of false Chrianity.
Martial law will be the signal of our final destruction.
What party does this sound like?
"The national government will maintain and defend the foiundations on which the power of our nation rests. It will offer strong protection to Christianity as the very basis of our collective morality. Today Christians stand at the head of our country. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit. We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theatre, and in the press--in short, we want to burn out the poison of immorality which has entered into our whole life and culture as a resuld of LIBERAL excess during the past years."
Adolph Hitler
Since there is no OT today and since this thread is really about "what you will not see on the nightly network news" I thought that I might offer you some tidbits.
Feingold not afraid to tell the truth and stand up for the rights of all people. To hell with those who claimed that Censure was a "political stunt." If so, this statement was apolitical.
Gotta love them fiscal conservatives.
I guess our tax dollars must be appropriated to pay for MORE no bid contracts - In Iraq. Our infrastructure no good (remember the UPS guy?) and we cannot pay for healthcare for the ever-important, always supported troops - but blackwater guys...where's me checkbook?
Posted by Anjha at April 4, 2006 08:32 PMoops, them guards are here. Sorry. I got distracted by the part about them being felons and stuff. (I think it is too late for me to continue reading, I better sign off for the night.) I feel so much better that they are guarding our bases at home.
Country is going to hell in a handbasket; I am not enjoying the ride.
Posted by Anjha at April 4, 2006 08:43 PMSo like last night, I posted this awesome blog on the Kos and gave em 12 bucks, but they booted me. Alls I ever did was beat the crap out of bible thumpin hippies.
Posted by PlainCity at April 4, 2006 08:58 PMDid Media Matters count the Odious Joes as Democrats? Are Democrat-bashing "journalists" such as Maureen Dowd and Joe Klein included as Democrats/Progressives?
And it's far more than just the political affiliations of the guests. The on-air people are center, center-right and far-right, and all of them are creatures of the Beltway.
Posted by James E. Powell at April 4, 2006 09:55 PMYou know Steve it doesn't matter anymore....we know big business (the media)like the present administration because you don't have to wear a mask when you steal...it is the norm....but finally the average moron in this country has had a whiff of the fumes and we don't have long before we can pull the lever to the escape hatch and flush this garbage down the drain!!!
Posted by Goyo at April 4, 2006 09:58 PMSteve, don't be so obtuse. The skew in the numbers is obviously a function of the Republicans' control of the reins of government. People want to know what they're saying because it's likely that it will have some effect, whereas nobody gives a damn what the Democrats are saying because there's no variation or consequence in their whine. Sorry, but that's the truth.
Oh, and you invoked Godwin's Law. Repeatedly.
Posted by Toby Petzold at April 4, 2006 10:00 PMI know the truth hurts Toby, and I will anxiously await a similar condemnation from you the next time a winger tags a Democrat with a comparison to the Nazis. But I won't be holding my breath.
Posted by Steve Soto at April 4, 2006 10:12 PMHere's what I'm wondering: did these same talk shows skew to the left during the Clinton years? Is this a reflection of the politics of the current Administration?
Posted by colorado at April 5, 2006 05:16 AMGoodwin's law was indended to apply to only his website. It means nothing in the larger blogesphere.
Posted by herbal tee at April 5, 2006 08:26 AMYour stats look like shriveled blue balls.
