Is Bushes declassification process classified?

Posted by goose1 at April 7, 2006 08:40 AM

I wasn't aware that falling wages were good economic news. That's news to me.

These jobs numbers really don't mean shit anymore, since most of the jobs are shit jobs.

Fucking economists...everything they report has to be taken with a block of salt.

True, I've noticed a few new Subway store fronts recently. Bitchin' wages with those great jobs. Sandwich manufacturing, you know.

Posted by ann at April 7, 2006 08:47 AM

yeah, goose1 it is called (in conspiratorial whisper) double-secret declassification.

Posted by j swift at April 7, 2006 08:55 AM

That wages are falling IS good economic news for Americans - you know, the HAVE$ and the HAVEMORE$, George's constituency. The rest of us are only here to service their every want and desire!

It is a shame that most of America is too dense to realize this even now. I fully expect that the nuances of the revelation that George is ear-deep in the Plame investigation will not register with those whose intellectual stimulation comes from American Idol. Besides, they will be too tired from working all day at Subway to care that their country is no longer theirs.

The insanity continues to grow!
bu$h says he will prosecute or hold accountable reporters and newspapers who leak classified information yet this doofus is the idiot who authorizes it to be leaked himself?
My head hurts from banging it against the wall!
And 35% of the people still believe in him?

So this is the job market we can expect from muck.
Work at Best Buy or Darden Restaurants group.

With all due respect, Steve... the President does have authority to declassify information. Always has and likely always will.

It was Bush who declassified the NIE documents 7 months prior to Libby educating the media on the same docus.

Libby saying he had it cleared by the President and Vice President is not a conspiracy or a rollover... it's legal justification and the one of the numerous reasons that Fitzgerald has not charged Libby with any leaking of classified information.

It's like someone who took a two hour lunch at work... coworkers complain, and the employee states that she got it cleared with her supervisor and manager. Who continues to question her and decides that the supervisor and manager are now in some sort of grand conspiracy? Crazies... that's who.

Posted by CH Truth at April 7, 2006 09:36 AM

CH Truth, Then why doesn't the dolt just come out with the fucking truth and tells us he did it? No one can question him, right?
Why make this into a grand spectacle, from the office of the pRe$idency, in front of the whole world?
What an embarrassment!

Spoken like a true rationalizing apologist traitor.

Nice job, Cunt Hates Truth. You're fucking crazy for comparing the leaking of top-secret information to smear a political opponent (who, as it turns out, had the truth on his side) to some midlevel corporate misunderstanding.

Man, you are one blind, stupid motherfucker. Not to worry, though...you'll be receiving the traitors' fate with the rest of them.

bbtb, that's been my question, too. if this all legal and on the up and up, why the subterfuge? why incur the cost of a trial? why let Scooter get indicted?

Because none of it is legal. Alberto The Twink is trying to make shit up as he goes, but it ain't sticking.

Imagine, if you will, had Clinton pulled this shit. You think suckdog and Crotch Ham Truth would be here rationalizing treason?

Nah, I think not.

Posted by God Of War at April 7, 2006 09:58 AM

even if the declassification process consists of the president saying "I declassify thee", once grand poobah does the mason's handshake or whatever, then the doc is unclassified, yes?

except it wasn't. the document remained classified until a later date. bush didn't declassify it, he just leaked it.

Posted by benjoya at April 7, 2006 09:59 AM

Truth, THE NIE was declassified 10 days AFTER Libby talked to Miller. Nice try though.

"The Post also notes this morning that the Administration has now admitted they may very well be wiretapping purely domestic calls by Americans inside the country without a court order, which is in violation of federal law."

Of course, the ones who should really fear this are the Bush Bots. Their loyalty will be monitored closely, and the potential to spy will help keep them in line.

Or they will be Trotskied.

CH,

Let's untie your Jujitsu logic and ask a simple question. If it was all well and good for Bush to declassify the NIE and "educating" the media as to Plame's identity then answer two questions:

1. Why did the CIA refer the matter to the justice department?

2. What purpose did revealing Plame's name (who was tracking shipments of nuclear material to Iran) serve?

And, as it has already been mentioned. If what they were doing is all legal and justified, why in the hell deny it, go through multiple parties, attribute the leak to a "former hill staffer," etc.

If they thought what they were doing was legal and on the up and up, then all they had to do is say look here, we think Wilson is lying and this is why. Oh and btw his Wife, who is working on Iran nuclear issues is a NOC.

Or how about the simple explanation: They knew that Wilson was essentially exposing their bullshit. They knew what they were doing was wrong (at the very least ethically), done for pure political purposes so as to not to undermine their lies for going into Iraq.

1. Why did the CIA refer the matter to the justice department?

2. What purpose did revealing Plame's name (who was tracking shipments of nuclear material to Iran) serve?

1) Because they are cry babies...
2) None... and they never revealed her name, just who she was married to. It was a non-issue

Now let me ask a couple of questions:

1) Since Libby has admitted to giving information to the press, why hasn't Fitzgerald indicted him for it? (answer... because it wasn't illegal)

2) Why isn't the Fitzgerald investigation going after the President for authorizing the release of classified information. (answer... because the president authorizing the release of classified information is what is considered 'declassification')

3) Why did the CIA allow Wilson to go running around the world telling his story if they were actually concerned about the Identity of his wife? (answer - Her status at the CIA was not classified and not all that well hidden)

What you have folks, is the CIA crying wolf and an investigator who has investigated for well over a year and found absolutely no underlying crimes of any nature. Those are the facts.

Imagine, if you will, had Clinton pulled this shit.

Just to refresh your memory... Bill Clinton admitted to perjury and obstruction of justice in the process of a federal investigation. His punishment was impeachment and he lost his license to practice law.

btw... the Kenneth Starr investigation (which the left still will call a witch hunt) led to over 30 felony convictions and numerous conspiracy and misdemeaner convictions. Fitzgerald will be lucky to land any convictions.

This is telling (along with lots of other quotes by GWB and the admin):

"I want to know the truth. … I have no idea whether we’ll find out who the leaker is, partially because, in all due respect to your profession, you do a very good job of protecting the leakers.”
--Bush, lying his ass off, October 7, 2003

According to Scottie, now, on April 7, 2006 what these guys did was not leaking. But for a very long time, these same guys are calling it leaking. In their own minds and by their own words, what transpired was LEAKING. But now that the world knows who the LEAKER is, its not leaking.

1) Since Libby has admitted to giving information to the press, why hasn't Fitzgerald indicted him for it? (answer... because it wasn't illegal)

Because it was a lie before it became the truth. So condoning it after the fact makes it OK.
They told so many lies Fitz has them on perjury charges!

Truth, the CIA, Fitz and Judge Patel all said she was a NOC. Nice try.

CH, thanks for your insights and history. I think most people would agree that Wilson is a poser and his kook wife is an airhead, especially after looking at the Vanity Fair spread. They both like that party life; they just love to feel important, at any cost. I suspect that their unconscious idols are John and Jackie Kennedy. Crap, they are Godless trash….What else did you expect me to say?

Many past commentators noted that the entire Libby situation was orchestrated by the party elites. It must be some control technique on the girlie State Department. The Bolshevik Pentagon is well under their control, as the CIA. The Company was used to spread fear among the perfumed asses in the State Department. These effete punks began to quit shortly after the Wilson caper, if you recall, all taking it personally, just as bedwetters all do. Anyhow, I do believe that Fitzgerald is solid, but he has nothing and has hinted to the WH that he is about to close the case. This is why Inquisition Sanchez still rides straight.

I suspect that the Abramoff foolishness and that little dude with the Target receipts are further party designs; but is there a connection at an upper level of abstraction, concerning unfolding politics, to produce some form of media, or public, of political distraction, and for what purpose. CH, do you see any possible party/corporate control toggling connections in all of the above internal capers? Also, is this immigration timing hinged upon the above. One thing for sure, these guys don’t care about polls of airheads. If so, then I suspect that they are just cooking and preparing something to blame on…say…Iran and Syria. I suspect that they have some psych nerd studies that predict human behavior/attitude is most predictable for a 180 when a powerful intervening variable is introduced. Of course, I am speculating, so don’t take anything I say seriously.

I'll have no trouble, however, distinguishing you from the non-traitors when the time comes.
